Cave city in the Caucasus. The largest caves in the Caucasus

The end of last year was marked by another high-profile megalithic story on the territory of Russia - this time the small Kabardino-Balkarian village of Zayukovo turned out to be in the spotlight. Just a little-known mountain village in the blink of an eye turned out to be the concentration of world sacred knowledge, here they found the Universal Center for Opening Chakras, a solar observatory and almost got to the Grail. What was the reason for the pilgrimage here of TV channels, local historians and researchers of mysteries?

Nowadays, large geographical discoveries there is no longer any need to wait on land, the last bastions of the "white spots" successfully defend only caves, waiting for their Columbuses and Amundsens, but already in special speleological equipment. Rumors about the discovery of some mysterious cave in the North Caucasus began to appear on the World Wide Web from September to October 2011. At first, it was extremely difficult to understand the layering of truth and washed out, especially since journalists, as if brutalized from "sensational hunger," began to produce television programs and publications of the appropriate kind with unprecedented zeal. We all remember the recent story with the "Ukrainian pyramids", which turned out to be an overweight duck, so we can immediately believe that at the foot of Elbrus they allegedly found a "huge artificial cave, the entrance to which the Nazi expedition was looking for, but did not find, "at first it was hard. But when the journalists who gave out a hodgepodge of unverified and frankly fictitious details nevertheless calmed down, the bottom line was the facts for the explanation of which the specialists of Kosmopoisk had to take up.

Expedition "Kosmopoisk", dedicated to checking the legends about " underground cities"was held in this area from June 4 to mid-July 2011, then individual members of the association visited the cave discovery area in August. During this time, a set of works was carried out, including the removal of rubble, penetration and mapping of the underground complex. When the next "discoverers" "They were just writing the script for the future program, in which they were going to appropriate the authorship of the discovery, meetings were already held in Cosmopoisk to discuss the results of summer expeditions in the North Caucasus.

In fact, the drifting adit was discovered after a long and systematic monitoring of the area by Artur Zhemukhov, a local resident who appears in the media as both a climber and a speleologist. The information about the cave was popularized by historians and local historians spouses Maria and Viktor Kotlyarov. The discovered entrance to a unique structure is a vertical adit, 40 by 90 cm in size. The mine itself consists of several "bends" with transitions from one part to another. It resembles an outlet or a chimney of some technological cavity hidden in the ground and belonging to unknown giants. If it turns out that a person is involved in the creation of the found system of underground communications, then this will turn out to be the largest prehistoric structure in modern Russia.

Among the searchers descending to the bottom of the cave were speleologists Igor Kommel and Pavel Sof'in, according to which, as well as with the involvement of other sources (Kotlyarov's schemes, for example), the first plans for the cave were drawn up. The unknown hollowness in the rock continued to amaze experienced climbers and speleologists - they had never seen anything like it in the vast expanses of the USSR. A winding and narrow hole through which a person could hardly squeeze through turned out to be just a "bottleneck" and passed into a huge room, which was given the unofficial name "flask" by the members of "Cosmopoisk". The explored dimensions of the cave from the upper part to the lower platform are about 100 m. The size of the "flask" in some sources is called equal to 36 m. Accurate measurements have not yet been made.

Despite the "wow-effect" from the initial look at the general structure of the man-made hole, it is still too early to draw final conclusions about its man-made nature. To date, there are both arguments in favor of the fact that the walls were processed, and heavy stone blocks(like those of which the Egyptian pyramids are composed), and arguments that we have before us just a bizarre game of nature.

Vera Davidenko, head of the site of the Kabardino-Balkar Geological Exploration Expedition, claims that "the tuff of the Zayukovsky site is an accumulation of volcano ejection products - ash, lava fragments, volcanic glass and, to a small extent, rock fragments that make up the walls of the crater. The material of the ejection during accumulation was hot and therefore, during solidification, separate cracks formed, that is, the entire tuff massif turned out to be, as it were, broken into blocks. Therefore, the depression found in the area of the village of Zayukovo is one of such cracks of gravitational separation, which is characterized by even contact surfaces. " Davidenko is echoed by Albert Emkuzhev, head of the subsoil use department for Kabardino-Balkaria, although he notes that ancient people could also use the natural cavity.

Some circumstances also incline researchers to the megalithic nature of the North Caucasian formation. In many ways, the Cosmopoisk expedition was organized because of local legends passed from mouth to mouth by aksakals, who claimed that there were cities underground in this area, which means that the myths could be based on real events that took place in ancient times. Speleologists who descended into the cave were able to examine and photograph the joints between possible blocks with even corners. When the REN-TV correspondents, who filmed a film here in the fall, scraped off the “mortar” located at the junctions of the blocks and showed it to Alexander Pankratenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor at the Moscow State Mining University, after examining the samples, he confirmed that this was some kind of strengthening material. There is ideal ventilation inside the cave, there is practically no dampness, it began to form only after the depressurization of the hall. Victor Kotlyarov, the author of more than 50 history books on the history, ethnology and orography of the Caucasus, claims that he showed photographs of the mine to many geologists, including foreign ones, and most of them are inclined to the version of its artificial origin. "At the same time, everyone was united in one thing: they had never seen anything like it," the historian emphasizes.

There are plenty of various versions about the purpose of the mysterious passage: it is both a burial ground for dumping infected animals, and a bunker for storing food, the dwelling of the Aryans, a giant energy resonator, the remains of an ancient well or mine, one of the fortifications of the Red Army, prepared to repel the German offensive by the summer of 1942 years, "cache" for some reconnaissance and sabotage (guerrilla) groups, etc.

Vadim Chernobrov, Cosmopoisk coordinator, is inclined to the version that the cave is a representative of the largest megaliths ever created by Mankind. Alas, no organic remains that would allow us to determine the era in which the "underground city" was used for its intended purpose have not yet been found. Also, no traces of human presence inside the cave were found. The only indirect but not yet verified evidence of use this place as a cult or sacred sanctuary came after the expedition: local historians found nearby something like a necropolis and astronomical observatory. The data has already been actively picked up by the press, but still requires careful verification and archaeological reference to specific cultures.

Vadim Chernobrov, member of the expedition to the North Caucasus

Another important fact cannot be ignored: in the press and documentaries it is voiced almost as the only existing version that the German organization "Ahnenerbe" showed serious interest in this place, as evidenced by the swastikas carved on the approaches to the cave with dates. The correspondent of Ufolenta asked Vadim Chernobrov a question about the veracity of this statement and the “seven swastikas” knocked out nearby.

“The theme of the German heritage excites and stirs the minds of literally all local researchers and local historians, without exception. For them, the thought that Hitler considered the Caucasus to be the “center of Power” and “the center of control of the World” is not seditious. Not one of them believes that Hitler rushed to the Caucasus only because of the Caucasian oil or because of some other banal goal. Many are looking for traces of the presence of the Nazis here, trying to unravel their deep esoteric plans. Which of them and how right - we will not judge. Maybe there really is and "seven swastikas" (I have not seen), especially since there are more fantastic versions about the Germans' explorations in the Caucasus. In any case, I would not be in a hurry to mix the history of the Germans into the history of the ancient mine we are talking about. Firstly, the Nazis were clearly not there (there are no traces of the presence of any people, neither the Germans, nor anyone else in the mine), they could not build it (neither they then, nor we now have the necessary technologies for this), besides the Germans simply did not have time, in fact, only the autumn of 1942, after which the Red Army put an end to all their searches.

It is impossible to exclude the natural origin of the cave, "polished" by the ancient inhabitants of these places, for example, in the so-called "Sosruko cave" there is a natural extract, which was used by people of the Stone Age, kindling a fire inside. Only new research will provide answers to many questions. The main thing is that the expedition members do not fight among themselves, competing for the right to be the discoverers of new artifacts, quite likely hiding in the darkness of winding labyrinths.

The North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) was formed on January 19, 2010. It is located in the central and eastern part of the North Caucasus. The NCFD includes 5 republics (Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia-Alania, Chechnya) and Stavropol region. The center of the district is the city of Pyatigorsk.

The undoubted riches of the district are the mountains of the North Caucasus, the modern relief of which was formed in the Neogene. The relief of the North Caucasus is distinguished by a variety of forms, one of which is karst caves. Karst formations North Caucasus are composed mainly of dolomites, gypsum, limestone. Karst cavities are found on the territory of the Western, less often - the Central and Eastern Caucasus. The caves can be seen at altitudes from 800 to 3000 meters. The Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Adygea and Krasnodar region, where there are already caves equipped for visiting. There are also dungeons in the Chechen Republic and Dagestan. In a word, the North Caucasus is a paradise for speleologists. Speleotourism is especially developed in the areas of the Abishira-Akhuba ridge, the Jentu ridge, and the Dzhangur mountain. The most famous karst cavities include: Southern Elephant Cave, Pogrebok Cave, Maiskaya Cave, Galochya Cave, Gentu Cave, Cinderella Cave, Berloga Cave. "Southern Elephant" is one of the most significant caves of the Caucasus. According to the possibilities of its tourist use, it is not inferior to many famous caves in other regions of our country and beyond. Currently, this cave is protected by the state as a valuable natural monument.

First of all, you need to pay attention to those caves, the visit of which is possible not on your own or with some kind of guide from among the locals, but as part of organized excursions. There are a lot of such caves in the Caucasus, and one of them is the Azish cave, which is located near the city of Maikop. It is located in a forest area and was opened in 1911, but was opened to the general public in 1987. The total length of the cave is 640 meters, but only 220 meters are equipped for excursions. This cave is a multi-tiered volumetric galleries and incredibly beautiful halls. The entrance to the cave is a vertical well, which was formed as a result of a collapse. The depth of the cave goes up to 37 meters. The area provided for excursions is completely safe, comfortable and well lit. Everywhere there are footpaths, fences, stairs.

All halls impress with their pristine beauty, which was created exclusively by nature, without human intervention. Each room has its own name. The Bogatyr Hall got its name because it has a height equal to three human heights. The hall called the altar actually resembles an altar, which causes amazement among tourists. Stalactites and wall streaks formed bizarre shapes, thanks to which some halls received the corresponding names: the hall “Buddha Statue”, “Apostles”, “Baba Yaga”.

The cave has a special microclimate, thanks to which the growth of various formations has not stopped for many centuries (scientists believe that this process has been going on for two million years). If you decide to visit this cave in the warm season, then be sure to take warm clothes with you, as the year-round temperature inside the cave is kept at 4-7 degrees. You can take warm clothes on the spot, but for an additional fee.

Some tourists get to this cave on their own, by car, and some simply buy an excursion in one of the Maykop tour agencies. If you go by car, then you need to follow through Khadzhokh, and near Dakhovskaya turn to the Lago-Naki plateau and drive up the serpentine. There are signs along the way so don't get lost.

As I said, you can get into the cave only with a guided tour, you first need to buy a ticket. It is best to come on weekdays, because on holidays and weekends there are long queues in which you can spend several hours and all the pleasure of visiting the cave will be blurred. Tours run every 30 minutes. Touching stalactites and other formations is strictly prohibited. The average duration of the tour is 25 minutes, but it is possible to stay longer. Tours run from 9 am to 6 pm.

The pricing policy is such that an adult ticket costs 400 rubles, and for children from 7 to 14 years old - half as much. Individual excursions They will cost a little more, but it makes no sense to buy them.

This area may interest you not only in the Azish cave, but also in the nearby rope park, cafes, and the opportunity to purchase various souvenirs. If you walk a little up the path, you can go to a chic observation deck from where you can enjoy incredible views of the surrounding mountains.

An ancient structure comparable in scale to the pyramids of Giza has been discovered in the North Caucasus.

We used to think that the main megaliths of the planet are concentrated in Egypt, South America, China. Our dolmens, which are conditionally classified as megalithic structures, against the background of the pyramids and the "great walls" look like dwarfs. But quite recently, a system of mysterious underground structures was discovered in the North Caucasus. So, in Kabardino-Balkaria, near the village of Zayukovo, mysterious multi-kilometer tunnels were discovered. Researchers suggest that they connected the ancient settlements that existed on our planet thousands of years ago. It is curious that all the tunnels are concentrated around a huge underground structure in the form of an inverted pyramid ...

Miracle city.

“For many years we have been searching, going to the places of alleged dungeons, listening to the old-timers,” says Vadim Chernobrov, head of the All-Russian public research association Kosmopoisk. “And last fall, we moved to the place where, according to the stories of the aksakals, there is Old city. This is not an allegory, but a literal translation from the local dialect. Old-timers say that it was built by people who lived here before them. Who lived here, what kind of people, no one knows for sure.

The object is located at an altitude of about a kilometer above sea level. locals showed the researchers one small hole in the mountain. The entrance is very narrow - about 30 centimeters in diameter. The guide told that the local population has a legend: if you climb there, you will find yourself in a huge city where there are squares, streets and houses, but there are no people. Indeed, the search engines got into a vast dungeon, which, gradually expanding, stretches deep into tens, and possibly hundreds of meters.

When the researchers began to examine the area around the manhole, they discovered a wide crevice. Maybe this is the main entrance to the dungeon, because if we assume the very fact of the existence of an underground settlement, it is unlikely that its inhabitants made their way through a narrow gap. Perhaps, going down the manhole, it will be possible to get to " main street". Last year, due to the weather, this was not possible, the researchers postponed the descent to the coming summer. However, there was a second discovery - not far from the Old City, another manhole was found. Local historians Maria and Viktor Kotlyarov were brought here by climber and speleologist Artur Zhemukhov, who trained in the mountains and drew attention to a strange depression. Stones are piled on top, bushes grow, and in appearance it is an ordinary hole, which is apparently invisible in the ground. But Arthur noticed that there was a lot of seepage from the hole. This means that there is a large cavity in the ground. He began to expand the hole and got into a huge shaft, which led somewhere into the darkness. One did not dare to climb there, he called a detachment of speleologists. They descended into the mine and realized that there was no end in sight to the dungeon. “The first thing that caught their eye was the main walls in the mine, obviously of artificial origin,” says Vadim Chernobrov. “They are made of even stone blocks of about the same size as in Egyptian pyramids, and stacked using similar technologies - one on top of the other. Each weighing 50-100 tons, well processed, although over time chips and cracks appeared.

What is this mysterious masonry? There are no traces of concrete or other mortar, as in the Egyptian pyramids. It is not clear how the ancient builders fastened the blocks together, but it is clear that they have been standing for more than one thousand years and even a needle cannot penetrate into the seam.

When the speleologists went deeper into the cave, they found a strange column. It seems to be hanging in the air, but at the same time it is tightly attached to the wall. Apparently, the dungeon has a colossal size, and people managed to explore only a small part of it. Deep they moved 100 meters. And ran into narrow passages.

Miracle machine.

The fact that the dungeon is not intended for human habitation became obvious to the search engines when they explored the entire accessible part of the cave. It turned out that it is crammed with narrow passages where even a child cannot squeeze through, and tiny holes where it is difficult to crawl through. human hand. Each such mini-cavity goes far inland: the light from the flashlights does not reach the bottom. What is this building? The researchers got the impression that the underground pyramid has a technological, and not a sacred purpose. It looks like some kind of machine, an engineering structure of unknown purpose. “It looks like some kind of resonator, a device for seismological research, exploration, mining, or an energy generator,” says Chernobrov. “It’s impossible to say for sure yet – no analogues have been found in the world.” Many people think of the analogy with the mysterious cavities inside the Egyptian pyramids, also not intended for the movement of people. In principle, a person cannot get there, but the ancient builders made them to last. These narrow manholes also lead tens of meters deep, but for what and where is a big question. Sometimes they end in rows of doors with handles, behind which are rooms of unknown purpose. Versions about purpose underground passages enough: a "refrigerator" for storing food, the dwelling of the ancient Aryans, a giant air conditioner, an air duct. Or, for example, a giant power generator... There is evidence that during the Second World War, researchers from the SS organization "Ahnenerbe" were seen in these places, which, as you know, was looking for an entrance to Shambhala. It is said that Hitler considered the Caucasus, along with Tibet, "the place of concentration of Power" and "the center of control of the World." And allegedly rushed to the Caucasus just for this reason.

Researchers, of course, pay attention to the fact that the same Old City is located next to the pyramid. And they assume that these two objects are somehow connected. After all, for example, in Turkey, near the village of Derinkuyu, an 8-story city was found underground, designed for permanent and comfortable living of 40-50 thousand people. There are houses, outbuildings, bazaars, shops, water sources, wells and ventilation hatches. In a word, a miracle of engineering technology, which is at least 4 thousand years old. Now about a dozen underground cities have been excavated in the world, three of them have become tourist sites. At the same time, it is known that some cities have underground communication with each other. These are huge distances - hundreds of kilometers. According to some scientists, the strange hum that scientists have recorded in different parts of the planet is nothing more than air draft in a system of man-made underground utilities located in the depths of the earth.
If this summer it turns out that there really was an underground city under the village of Zayukovo, then the pyramid can be considered a kind of technical installation that ensures its vital activity. And then the "Zayukovsky miracle" will be the largest man-made prehistoric structure on the territory of modern Russia.

Opinions

Vera Davidenko, head of the section of the Kabardino-Balkarian geological exploration expedition:

— That which underground caves are of man-made origin, a moot point. The tuff of the Zayukovsky area is an accumulation of volcanic ejection products - ash, lava fragments, volcanic glass, and, to a small extent, rock fragments that make up the walls of the crater. During accumulation, the ejecta material was hot, and therefore, during solidification, individual cracks formed, that is, the entire tuff massif turned out to be broken into blocks, as it were. Consequently, the depression found near the village of Zayukovo is one of such cracks of gravity separation, which is characterized by smooth contact surfaces. Another thing is that ancient people could also use the natural cavity.

Alexander Pankratenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of Moscow State Mining University:

- I examined a sample of "mortar" taken by speleologists from the stone blocks of the cave. It looks like some kind of reinforcing material. The composition is unknown to me, now nothing like this is used. The study of the sample also indicates that the inside of the cave is ideally ventilated, quite dry. Photographs of the cave also confirm the version of its artificial origin. Like it or not, future research should show.

Many inhabitants of the Caucasus still vividly preserved legends about cave life.
"A long time ago, the Solsa man lived. People then lived underground in large caves lined with stone. These caves in some places have survived to this day," says one of the old Ingush legends.

Underground cities in the Caucasus
Did an underground civilization live in the Caucasus?
In Russia found a structure comparable to famous pyramid Cheops.
Speleologist Arthur Zhemukhov from Kabardino-Balkaria has an unusual hobby: he searches for sacred places scattered over mountains and gorges, using his own method, which takes into account the location of stars in constellations and contains mathematical calculations. That is how Arthur discovered a mysterious manhole littered with stones in the Baksan Gorge. And under it - an amazing cave, which, perhaps, is part of an underground city. In September, the expedition of the public research association "Kosmopoisk" visited it for the third time.
It is almost impossible to enter the cave without climbing skills. First you need to squeeze into a hole measuring 40 by 120 cm, then descend on a rope along a narrow vertical shaft. It is formed by two parallel stone slabs. After 9 meters - the first "knee": the hole goes to the side and immediately breaks down again. Already here you will be covered by absolute silence - not a sound penetrates from outside. Another 23 meters deep - and a new "knee". To reach the bottom of the cave, you need to overcome more than 80 meters, and it will take an hour. But, having passed the "bottleneck", you will find yourself in a huge room, which the researchers called the "flask".
“The first thing that catches your eye is that the walls in the mine are obviously of artificial origin,” says Vadim Chernobrov, coordinator of the Kosmopoisk association. - They are made of smooth stone blocks, carefully polished. In the Egyptian pyramids, the blocks are about the same size. It is easy to calculate that each "pebble" weighs about 200 tons. And how to turn them around in order to neatly fold such a structure is completely incomprehensible. And that it is man-made, I have little doubt.
Viktor Kotlyarov, a local historian and local historian, shares the same opinion: “When we showed photographs of this mine to geologists, including foreign ones, most of them tended to the version of its artificial origin. In any case, they were all unanimous in the fact that they had never seen anything like it anywhere else. There are no analogues in the world!”
In the dungeon, the researchers found a “floating” column: the megalith is attached to the wall with only one rib, which makes it seem to be hanging in the air. Unfortunately, no traces of human presence or organic remains were found in the cave. However, Vadim Chernobrov is not surprised. He is sure that this building was not conceived as a dwelling. He had other tasks.
From the moment the public learned about the mysterious mine in the Baksan Gorge, there was no shortage of versions about its purpose. It was assumed that this was a burial ground for dumping infected animals, a bunker for storing food, a dwelling of the Aryans, a fortification, a lair of a Bigfoot ... Some of the researchers descending into the mine heard howls, rustles and even whispers, which, if desired, can be mistaken for an unknown ancient language. But no traces and remains, we repeat, were not found. This refutes all of the above hypotheses. But a draft is blowing in the dungeon and it is crammed with narrow passages that have yet to be raked from the rubble. Local speleologists have already acquired electrical equipment to continue work next summer.
The stay of a person or other living beings in this structure was not initially envisaged, - Chernobrov shares his guesses. - You can draw such an analogy: we did not penetrate into a dwelling, but into some kind of factory.
For example, we climbed into a factory chimney, then went down into the combustion chamber and now we are trying to understand: where did the people sit here? And they didn't sit there at all! And they shouldn't have. According to our version, this cave is a technical structure. It served as a kind of resonator, a converter of waves and radiations of a nature unknown to us. Its age is about 5 thousand years. In terms of size and functionality, the cave of the Baksan Gorge is comparable to the Egyptian one. great pyramid, which many scientists also consider a wave transmitter or energy converter.
Most likely, the researchers believe, this object was not underground before. It was located on the surface, being attached to the hillside. So it is possible to explain why one of the walls of the “flask” chamber is uneven, bumpy (this is a fragment of a natural rock), and the other is smooth, polished (it was erected by unknown builders). For several millennia, the giant structure was covered with earth, sand and rock fragments, trees grew from above. And the stone blocks, once located on the outside of the hill, turned out to be inside it. By the way, let's remember the same pyramid of Cheops. She, along with the sphinx lying next to her, was covered with sand until archaeologists dug it up and gave the "wonder of the world" a familiar look.
The Baksan mine-cave can also be dug up, although it is difficult to even imagine what kind of funds this will require. Researchers are inclined to the version that the structure unusual shape, preserved inside the rock, could be part of a more global structure - underground cave cities, legends about which in the North Caucasus are passed down from generation to generation. Near the manhole leading to a depth of 80 meters, two more entrances to the dungeon were found. Calculations show that if they continue, having dismantled the rubble, they will dock with each other and lead to the same mysterious cave, where you can hear a whisper, similar to an unknown ancient language.
Legends about big people are widespread in Kabardino-Balkaria. We were told that “incredibly large bones” were dug up not far from this hill during earthworks, however, none of the respondents knew where they are now, says Igor Kommel, a geologist. - The local population is afraid to touch the Grave of the Giant, and we were allowed to it only after we promised that we would not dig there. We just made a map and illuminated the hill with a geolocator - the device showed that there are obscure extraneous inclusions in the depths of the hill, but we have not been able to identify them yet.”
In the same area, among the forest thickets on the mountain, there are several structures that look like mushrooms. The inhabitants of the surrounding villages call them mushrooms: stone bases close in shape to a square are crowned with rounded “caps”, there are gaps between them. To the researchers, these monuments (whether natural or man-made?) reminded ... ventilation shafts, almost like those of the metropolitan metro. And this is no accident.
In the 19th century, underground cities were found in the Cappadocia Valley in what is now Turkey. The largest of them, Derinkuyu, was opened only half a century ago! It turns out that if you go down into a small hole in the middle of a mountain plain, you can find yourself in a huge dungeon that goes down eight floors - with tunnels and halls, streets and squares, wells and ventilation shafts. Now there are archaeological excavations, this curiosity is shown to tourists. It's amazing that cave cities Cappadocia has not been found before. On the other hand, this suggests that similar structures may exist elsewhere. Especially where there are legends about them, like in the North Caucasus.
We have heard myths about underground cities many times. Once, the elders admitted that there is a place in the Baksan Gorge, the name of which is translated from Kabardian as the Old City. It was allegedly built by the people who lived here before them, - continues V. Chernobrov. - Moreover, this city, according to them, was both aboveground and underground! We went to the hill indicated to us and in fact found the remains of walls and foundations on it. And in the mountain - a small hole, narrow, about a meter. The old-timer guide recalled that when he was little, his grandfather told him: as boys they climbed there and penetrated into a huge city, where there are squares, streets and premises, but there are no people. There is also an underground river, and if you walk along it, you can go to central square where a monument stands. Something like a sacred stone in the center of the settlement. In stock underground river I have no doubt: outside, along the bottom of the gorge, a river runs, which flows out just from this hill. However, it was not easy to climb through the "entrance" - after about 30-40 m, blockages began. In addition, the elders said that there was some other entrance that their grandfathers used. Later we found another crevice leading deep into the mountain. For two years, our expeditions cleared the rubble on the way to the dungeon. We advanced several tens of meters, made a preliminary map of passages and galleries. But in order to penetrate deeper and get to the “main street”, you still need to dig and dig.”
In the meantime, Kosmopoisk was exploring the Old City, local speleologist Artur Zhemukhov, while training in the mountains, drew attention to an inconspicuous depression littered with stones and overgrown with bushes. In appearance, a hole is like a hole. But there was a lot of seepage from the hole. Arthur dismantled the rubble and found a shaft under them, leaving vertically down into the darkness. And what struck him most of all: the rectangular walls of the manhole were even and smooth, as if polished. Zhemukhov immediately understood: "This is a sensation."
