Sanya China. Is it worth going to Hainan?

Sightseeing map of Sanya China

I am not a beach lover. It's really not mine. Lying on the beach, water-skiing or spending time in bars all night long ... maybe it's interesting for a day or two, then I don't know what to do with myself. But this is about me.

Attractions Sanya

If you are a beach lover, then the resort town of Sanya in China is far from the worst choice. The resort area in Sanya is not large, transport is thought out conveniently and you can get to most popular places by bus or taxi. Transport, by the way, is inexpensive.

There are several beaches. Moreover, the beaches are located both directly within the city of Sanya and on the nearby islands. In addition to beaches, there are a dozen amusement parks and amusement parks. I have already described in detail the most popular places in the city of Sanya in a separate guide to Hainan Island. Section with beaches, but you can read about other attractions of Sanya.

In my opinion, the obvious disadvantage of all the sights of Sanya without exception is the high entrance fees. Often you pay 100-200 yuan to enter a place that is not worth that kind of money. And there are many such places. This is typical for all of China, not only for Sanya. In China, you pay for absolutely everything, even for what in most countries is considered free to visit. You just need to get used to it and learn how to separate really interesting places from dummies, so as not to drain the budget into a pipe.

Some call Sanya the second Sochi and they are not far from the truth. There are a lot of inscriptions in Russian in the city and don't be surprised if some Chinese starts talking to you in broken Russian.

Regarding the prices for Sanya, everything is very individual here and it is impossible to say how much money you need to take with you. Everyone has their own needs and desires, but if you compare the island of Hainan and the town of Sanya with similar places in Southeast Asia, then the prices are higher here. Higher simply because China is an order of magnitude more expensive than Thailand, the Philippines or Indonesia. A mug of beer in a bar will cost from 40 yuan, seafood about 100 yuan in the coastal zone, and a bite of rice with chicken and vegetables in places where locals eat will cost 15 yuan. A taxi, depending on the destination, will cost 30-40 yuan per car. These are approximate prices, it all depends on your ability to find inexpensive or expensive places.

Visa on arrival in Sanya

I hope it helped to form a general picture of the city of Sanya in your mind. Let's talk about more material things that are necessary when planning a trip. Let's start with the visa.

Arriving on Hainan Island (in Sanya or Haikou), Russians have the right to obtain a visa upon arrival for 14 days. At the airport, you will need a passport, a photograph, 65 US dollars and a standard application form filled out on the spot. The process of obtaining a visa takes very little time, after which you can safely go to the hotel. You can read more about the visa on arrival to Hainan Island and about obtaining a visa to mainland China in the types of visas to China.

Weather in Sanya

Already wrote about the weather in Sanya. There, in detail, for each month, we examined the weather on the island of Hainan. In short, the optimal time to fly to Sanya is from the second half of September to the beginning of May. In the winter months, it can even be cool at night, the temperature drops to +12 +14. Although such coolness is relative, right? If for the Chinese it is cold, then for the Russians it is very comfortable.
