The courts play a special role in the mechanism of state power, only the judiciary is called upon to administer justice. This is the guarantee of the independence of the judiciary, the rights and freedoms of man and citizen and statehood in general.
Until 1950, the Petrodvorets District Court of St. Petersburg was called the People's Court of the 2nd section of the Krasnoselsky District, which was formed on the basis of the Order of the Office of the Ministry of Justice under the Leningrad City Executive Committee dated April 20, 1946. In 1950, on the basis of the Order of the Department of the Ministry of Justice for the city of Leningrad, the site was transferred to the Petrodvortsovy district and became known as the People's Court of the 2nd section of the Petrodvortsovy district of the city of Leningrad, chaired by a veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, an order bearer of two Orders of Glory Arkov Alexander Grigoryevich.
On October 27, 1960, the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR adopted the Law "On the Judiciary of the RSFSR", according to which district people's courts, including the People's Court of the 2nd section of the Petrodvorets district of the city of Leningrad, were transformed into district people's courts. In 1991, in connection with the renaming of the city of Leningrad into the city of St. Petersburg, the Petrodvortsovy District People's Court became known as the Petrodvortsovy District Court of St. Petersburg.
It should be noted that in Soviet society the court was considered only as a body designed to protect socialist society, the state and citizens from illegal actions, while the responsibility of the state to its citizens was not given due importance.
On December 12, 1993, the Constitution of the Russian Federation was adopted by popular vote, which established, among other things, new principles for the administration of justice in the country. On April 17, 2008, the grand opening of the new building of the Petrodvorets District Court of St. Petersburg took place on Avrova Street, which was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation V.M.
