Thassos island beach reviews

Thassos(Thasos) is located east of Halkidiki.
You can diversify your vacation on the beaches or by going to the island of Thassos for a couple of days to broaden your horizons.

How to get to Thassos

If you rented a car in Greece (), then drive from Thessaloniki (or any other city in Halkidiki) to the east, to the city Keramoti(Keramoti).
Ferry: from the city of Keramoti there is a ferry to the island of Thassos (Keramoti - Thasos).
But I want to note that this is not the only city in continental Greece from where the ferry goes to Thassos - there is also a ferry terminal in the city Kavala(ferry KavalaSkala Prinou).

But from Keramoti to Thassos, ferries run every hour, and from Kavala only 2 times a day.
Therefore, the choice is obvious - Keramoti.
A ticket costs 3.50 euros per passenger, and 25 euros per car.
Since the ferries go one after another, the loading queue is very dynamic, so let your passenger run to buy tickets while you are standing in the loading queue, indicating the make and model of your car.
The ticket price depends on the size of the car.

Travel time to Thassos is 45 minutes.
All the while, people amuse themselves by feeding the seagulls corn sticks (the buffet on the ferry does good business with sticks).
Seagulls in gratitude aimingly shit on the heads of passengers on the ferry.

Marble beach in Thassos

Immediately after the exit from the ferry, we turned left (the main route around the island is a ring road) and drove along the sea to Marble beach(Marble Beach).
His merit:
- a country road paved with marble gravel (dust from under the wheels is also marble)
- marble pebbles the size of sugared peanuts on the beach
– a very strong contrast of the beach with sea water – you need to take pictures with filters
- as usual in Greece - the cleanest sea
- darkness of people on the beach (it was necessary for us to come to Thassos for the weekend, when the Greeks from the continent go to rest)

The entry into the sea is immediately deep.
Pea-sized white marble pebbles are cool. I've only seen this on .
The color of the water is deep turquoise and, as it is already clear by default, the water is crystal clear.
After the deserted beaches of Sithonia, we had some shock on Thassos, but I can admit that we are quite “snickering” and visiting tourists in many places.
Therefore, divide my grumbling by 3, or even by 10.

There are marble developments on the island of Thassos: high quality marble is mined or mined.
It is in this very place that the beaches of Marble Beach are located.
There are two of them:
first Marble Beach— free (put a towel and swim).
You can park your car in a free parking lot 50 meters from the beach closer to the forest (the number of places is limited, but for some reason there is always one).

The second Marble Beach - Marble Beach - is more of a beach club:
– marble columns at the entrance (rich)
– tents and beds with white mattresses for a company or family
- lounge music
- booze bar
- you have to pay money for being in this place (I don’t know how much) and you can enjoy the sea

If you pass a paid beach, then there is a place where you can park your car and look around.
Here is just a working quarry where marble is mined.
This can be seen from the heaps of marble sand and the iron structure resembling a crane.

Videos of these places

If you continue along the road along the sea (a dirt road with cobblestones), you can look into a small bay where vacationers are brought on the Eros steamer (these are cruises here).
They take people from the north of the island and take them all day long through all the picturesque bays: if you don’t want to, by car.
And what is convenient: you have a drink on board, and then with a run into the sea, it will cool down ...
The beach in this place is sandy and shallow, but the range of colors of the surrounding space is very pleasant.
People bathe from anchored yachts and mothers with children from the shore.

Golden beach in Thassos

After that, the road passes through the pass and leaves to the beach. golden beach(settlement Chrisi Ammoudia- these are hotels and packages, Skala Potamias- this is the private sector, probably like in Anapa's brochures).
This beach sucks and reminded me of Pattaya in the 90s (yellow sand, a lot of people, a few kilometers long beach).

Having spat on further exploration of the island, we went to a villa booked in advance, which turned out to be a townhouse.
It has been noticed that on the island all cottage buildings that are divided between several residents and townhouses in the form of blocks (downstairs bedroom, upstairs bedroom, living room in the middle, outdoor terrace with a grill and garden furniture with a view of the neighboring one exactly the same) are called villas .
Hello Gelendzhik-Crimea (I'm sorry, but I think that such housing in the named health resorts of Russia will be called a palace)!

After settling in and meeting the hosts, who for some reason are terrified of me and do not want to take money and look at my ID (I confess that I answered their letters quite sharply demanding to pay a 20% deposit, demanding an invoice with details and a decoding of all tax final the amount by inserting booking.com into a copy + your details and position), we went to look for a boat.

In general, everything would be fine if the Bulgarians and Serbs, like the Russians, wondered:
“Should we go to Greece?”…..
And they would have stayed to rest at home - in Bulgaria and Serbia, since it’s already just tired of the fact that 92% of the numbered Ford in Sithonia is occupied ...
Yes, holidays in Europe have begun - August.
