Musical fountain. Dubai - “Amazing performance! Why is the fountain "dancing"? What tunes are playing? Working hours

The Singing Fountain in Dubai is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful things created human hands. 25 colored spotlights and 6600 simple light sources give the fountain a mysterious and magical image. They actually enliven the jets, beating from the surface of the water to a height of one hundred and fifty meters.

Every day, at a certain time, the fountain dances and sings for everyone. It surprises with graceful movements of water and powerful shots of jets high into the air. The artificial lake that houses the Dubai Fountain has total area in 12 hectares.

The fountain itself stretched next to the Burj Khalifa skyscraper for 275 meters. At night, when spotlights and lamps illuminate the fountain, it looks even more beautiful and mysterious. The fountain is visible from anywhere in the lake and nearby buildings.

The Dubai Fountains are the pride of the city and one of the largest fountains in the world. They are located next to the Burj Khalifa.

The technological characteristics of this creation are amazing. The jets of the fountain, illuminated by 50 spotlights and 6,000 light sources, can reach 150 meters in height, which is approximately equivalent to the height of a 50-story building. At the same time, he is able to lift 83,000 liters of water into the air.

Watching how the jets of the fountain move to the music, you will never see other colors in the backlight than white. The architects deliberately excluded colors to allow viewers to enjoy the amazing play of water. You can do this from 18:00, but it is better to come later, as it is still very light at this time.

Dubai is a real champion in terms of projects, in relation to which one can say without exaggeration “the best”. Here is the highest building in the world, the largest gold market, the largest aquarium and much more, which has no equal on the planet. Among these architectural masterpieces, a special place is occupied by a unique musical fountain near the Burj Khalifa skyscraper (Khalifa Tower) - Dubai Fountain, which is often called the eighth wonder of the world.

Singing fountains Dubai Fountain is a real work of architectural and engineering art, amazing in scale and interesting solutions. This is one of the most popular attractions in Dubai, attracting thousands of tourists every year.

This grandiose building is a huge, but not very deep pool - Burj Khalifa Lake. A lot of pipes are installed at its bottom, from which jets of water of different power are hit according to a pre-programmed algorithm, as well as spotlights that provide incredible beauty backlight. The height and direction of the jets are constantly changing, and the most intricate patterns and outlines are created.

All this splendor happens to beautiful music, and lights turn on in the evening, thanks to which a spectacle of indescribable beauty appears before an enthusiastic audience. The show, lasting about five minutes, is repeated every half hour. Many tourists who have visited Dubai say that they got the most unforgettable impression from the singing fountains.

The design of this unique structure was entrusted to the world-famous American company WET Design, which by that time already had experience in implementing such works in its homeland (the Bellagio singing fountain in Las Vegas). The developer was the Arab development company Emaar. The budget for this project of the century was 218 million US dollars, including the cost of building a pool, fountain, filtration system and water regulation. Construction began in mid-2008.

Unlike its counterpart in Las Vegas, Dubai Fountain is not only taller (it is the highest in the world: the height of the jets reaches almost 150 meters), but also larger (its pool is 275 meters long). The fountains are illuminated by 6,600 light indicators and fifty different spotlights.

In the announced nationwide competition for best name The winner was a group of 15 contestants who proposed the name Dubai Fountain. The prize amounted to more than 27 thousand US dollars.

In May 2009, the grand opening ceremony of the fountain took place, harmoniously merging with another grandiose attraction of the ultra-modern metropolis - Dubai Mall.

Features of the Dubai Fountain

Of course, there are other cities in the world where there are similar structures that embodied the idea of combining water, music and bright colors. Singing fountains stand out among their counterparts not only for their grandiose scale, but also for their diverse musical and dance repertoire, which includes dozens of musical compositions, including

  • anthem UAE,
  • song dedicated to the prime minister
  • Vice President Sheikh Mohammed
  • classical works,
  • the most popular Arabic
  • foreign hits in dozens of languages of the world,
  • as well as soundtracks to famous films.

Turns on every 30 minutes new program, which differs from the previous one not only in musical accompaniment, but also in the play of water and light. The working group that creates this enchanting fountain show is constantly updating the repertoire and developing new productions.

Where is the best place to watch the fountain?

You can watch the magnificent musical and dance performance of the fountain, comfortably seated in one of the many nearby cafes and restaurants. For example, an excellent view of the fountain opens from the terrace of the Hukama restaurant at the Address Hotel. You can also book a table at Madeleine Café & Boulangerie, a French café located in the Dubai Mall.

However, there are many other equally cozy and pleasant places where you can clearly see the fountain show. In the same DubaiMoll, almost every floor has balconies that offer a panorama of the majestic performance. But in general the rays of light illuminating the fountains are visible from a distance of almost 30 kilometers!

In the evening (and the show usually starts at 18.30), when all the lights go out on the embankment, a light fog slowly spreads over the surface of the water and the first chords of marvelous oriental music begin to sound. At the same moment, thousands of jets of water of various heights shoot up simultaneously from many fountains.

They either calm down, then again rush upward, firing powerful explosions, then they begin to gracefully move to the beat of the music and draw the most incredible figures and intricate patterns. All this action is so mesmerizing that it is impossible to look away.

Where is it located and how to get there?

You can get to this unique piece of engineering art by metro or taxi.

The Dubai Musical Fountain is a truly enchanting composition of light, sound and water. It is located in artificial lake with an area of 12 hectares, in the center of Dubai, next to the famous Burj Khalifa skyscraper.

The engineers, designers and architects of the Californian company WET worked on the creation of this fountain, who at one time created a luxurious musical fountain in front of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

The Dubai Fountain today is one of the largest in the world: 275 m long, and the height of the water jets reaches 150 m. Every second, the fountain raises more than 83,000 liters of water into the air. Inside the structure, special “water robots” are installed - shooters that push water up under pressure, and numerous spotlights and iridescent light create the effect of “water dance”.

The Emirate of Dubai can be classified as modern wonders Sveta. All of his construction projects are superior to world analogues in scale, grandiosity, external effects and cost. One of the wonders in Dubai is the fountain, as colossal, incredible, magnificent as everything else in this city. Rather, this is not one fountain, but a whole ensemble producing a musical and visual show, with a complex lighting system. This complex is called singing, dancing, choreographic fountains.

The fountain in Dubai works both during the day and in the evening. When, after sunset, the dance of water jets begins in the color illumination of the spotlights, the spectacle is striking in its beauty, scale and graceful coordination of performance.

History of creation

The customer of the project of this unique complex is Emaar Properties - a real estate development and management company United Arab Emirates. In Dubai, the fountains were designed by California-based engineering and design firm WET Design, which was the first to use high-pressure air to create choreographed water shows. At one time, she carried out the project of the famous Las Vegas fountains at the Bellagio casino of the Lake Hotel.

Construction cost AED 800 million (US$218 million). To choose the name of the fountain, Emaar Properties organized a competition, the result of which was announced at the end of October 2008. Since February 2009, testing of the fountain with the already approved name "Dubai" began, and on May 8, the ceremonial launch of the fountain and the simultaneous opening of the Dubai shopping center took place. In the opening speech, a spokesman for Emaar Properties noted that "The Dubai Fountain is an expression of the creative mind."

Description

The Dubai Fountain, the largest such complex in the world, is installed in the Dubai development center in front of the Dubai Mall in the shallow (1.5 m deep) artificial lake Burj Khalifa, 275 m long. The complex is formed by jet mechanisms located in two arcs and five rings of various sizes. The work of the fountains is accompanied by one of the many musical compositions (about 40 pieces) played through the speakers installed around the lake. The system creates many different patterns and combinations of movement of water jets in the air.

To the musical accompaniment, the water shoots up several levels of height, in different parts of the system, with different intervals and sequences, depending on which melody is being played. The unique dynamism of water is created by swivel nozzles, thanks to which moving jets hit the different direction, while repeatedly bending, twisting in arcs and spirals. The backlight complements this visual and sound composition, the view of the Dubai fountains (photo - in the article) is truly mesmerizing.

How it works?

To supply multiple jets of this power, high-pressure air is used, supplied by several pumps and water systems. Changing the pressure gives you options for height, speed and sequence of water shots. Jets with complex movable mechanisms that make the jets dance are called "rowers" and are autonomous robots. "Rowers" act as leading instruments on which the entire choreographic composition and the smooth transition of jets in legato movements are based. Some "rowers" have jets that create circular and spiral flows. The movable mechanism of the other rowers creates the effect of a wrist with endless movement in a circle or side to side.

Water cannons of varying power with larger nozzles work under extremely high pressure. They are called "shooters", they throw water to a colossal height and are divided by power. "Super shooters" shoot water jets up to 73 m high into the air. The nozzles of "extreme shooters" create the strongest noise by pushing out water, and their jets reach a height of 152.4 m, which is equivalent to the height of a 50-story building. Since it takes a long time to re-push the water to a great height to build up enough pressure, these fountains are hardly ever used in daily shows.

control mechanism

The Dubai Fountain headquarters is located on the top level of the adjacent Dubai Mall. The choreography of each performance is first created by a unique computer simulation program called VirtualWET, which simulates in real time appearance jets, including effects produced by gravity and wind. Musical themes are randomly selected.

Backlight

An underwater lighting system at the base of the jets with 6,600 spotlights and 25 color projectors not only complements, but forms a special "choreographic" effect. This, combined with the ever-changing movement of the water, accurately expresses all the nuances of the musical composition: tempo, pitch, smooth legato transitions, short staccato pulses, enhanced drum intros.

A spokesman for WET, the creator of the Dubai-based singing fountains, said of the elaborate lighting action: “It combines the magic of water and the elements of nature to evoke generalized sensations of the movement of light and emotion, which should create a harmony of the outside world and our senses.”

Musical accompaniment

The compositions were selected by Emaar from the resources of classical and contemporary world music. The musical pieces are chosen taking into account the possibility of visually interpreting them with a fountain. At the same time, the rhythmic pattern, the variable power of sound delivery, and the expressiveness of the works were important. One of the selection criteria was that the songs should be familiar to the public and evoke positive emotions. Also important is the timelessness of works that are well received by people of different generations. The musical repertoire caters to the tastes of Dubai's cosmopolitan population of over 180 nationalities.

During the performance musical works 2 to 4.5 minutes long are played continuously. Day time fountains in Dubai: 13:00 - 13:30. Evening show: 18:00 - 23:00 with a 30-minute extension on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Sometimes during the day during testing, the complex works without music.

Fountain in numbers

A few facts about this grand structure:

  • 275 meters - this is the length of the fountain, twice the length of the football field;
  • 150 meters - the maximum height of the water column created by the most powerful water gun;
  • 83,000 liters - the volume of water that is thrown into the air every second by the fountain when operating at full capacity;
  • 25 color options and 6,600 WET Superlights are used in this complex;
  • 32 km is the maximum distance at which it is possible to see the beam of the fountain's searchlights.

And finally, I would like to add that over 47 million people have already visited this water choreographic ensemble since its launch.

They say that you can endlessly look at three things: how water flows, how fire burns, and how another person works. This expression later had a continuation in the form of a joke - it means that it is best in the world to watch a fire and extinguish it. I offer another version of the ideal object for observation - a musical fountain in Dubai video, in which there is a lot of water, a little fire and a lot of human work.

One of the most magnificent and amazing fountains in the world is located in a large artificial lake between the tall building in the world with the skyscraper Burj Khalifa and one of the largest shopping centers Dubai Mall. Noticed that Are the words "Dubai" and "most" almost synonymous? =0)

The complex fountain system was designed by WET, an American company that previously worked on a musical fountain in front of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. The length of the fountain is 275 meters, and the height of its jets exceeds 150 meters.. This splendor is illuminated by several dozens of colored spotlights and more than 6.5 thousand spotlights. The cost of the fountain, according to the developer company, was almost $ 220 million, and it took about a year to build it.

The grand opening of the fountain took place in May 2009 and for more than five years now this building has been pleasing the eyes of the residents of Dubai and hundreds of thousands of tourists who come to the most popular emirate of the UAE every month.

Talking about what this fountain can do is as stupid as describing a picture of a great artist. It needs to be seen, preferably live. But if this is not possible, then you can watch the video. The effect, of course, will be different, but still ...
