Da Nang: tourist information, weather, seasons

Danang (Da Nang, Danang, formerly French Tourane (Tourane))- the third largest and most important city in Vietnam (after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi). It is located on the coast of central Vietnam (the coast of the South China Sea) approximately in the middle between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Danang on the interactive map of Vietnam). It is the administrative center of Quang Nam Da Nang Province. The city is one of the fastest growing and economically developing in Vietnam. The population is 887,069 (2009) and is projected to reach one million by 2014. The city has an international airport, a railway station, an intercity bus station and a seaport. Textile (cotton, silk), food industry, mechanical engineering. There is a Consulate General of Russia in Da Nang.

According to now recognized evidence, Danang was founded in the distant 192 in the kingdom of Champa. It is much older than even the current capital of the country. Unfortunately, today almost nothing from those ancient times has been preserved. Da Nang is today one of the most modern cities in Vietnam, and there are not even monuments of relatively recent history preserved here, with the exception of the war with the United States. In general, the history of Da Nang is quite closely connected with Europeans. So, the first Europeans (Portuguese) landed in Vietnam in 1535. In 1858 Da Nang became a French concession. During the Vietnam War, there was a large US military base near Da Nang.

Today's Da Nang is not yet too spoiled by the attention of European tourists, as it is a typical port industrial city without any special attractions and entertainment. To be honest, meeting a European tourist on Da Nang street is a rarity in general. However, Forbes magazine named Da Nang beaches as one of the most attractive in the world. The beaches of Da Nang are magnificent, deserted and annually attract a huge number of tourists, most of whom are residents of Vietnam and neighboring countries of Southeast Asia. In general, for the Vietnamese themselves, this is one of the most favorite vacation spots.

Although there are practically no attractions in Da Nang itself, with the exception of the Cham Sculpture Museum, a huge Buddha statue and magnificent modern bridges, there are Bana Mountain, Hai Van Pass, Maison Ruins, Batma National Park, Marble Mountains, as well as the more popular tourist cities of Hoi An near Da Nang and the ancient capital of Hue. From here you can also go to Laos. It is convenient to stop in Da Nang to visit all these places.

Evening Danang, the famous Czech bar

In general, during the day Da Nang is a rather boring city. But in the evening the city is transformed, all covered with colored lights; cafes and restaurants open in places where during the day they were not in sight; out of nowhere there are tourists (sometimes even Europeans). In the evening it becomes clearly more fun and you can even find nightclubs. But so far, the main visitors to such establishments are not European tourists.

The infrastructure of the city now offers everything that is necessary for a quality holiday, and at the same time everything is developing very dynamically. The city has some of the best and widest roads in the country, and there are almost no traffic jams. There are a huge number of hotels here, and new ones are constantly growing. Everything is changing before our eyes, and today's wastelands along the beach (so far there are still wastelands there) in a year already turn out to be built up with hotels or restaurants. The prospect of the city is also added by the fact that it is a major transport hub: there is only a recently renovated international airport, a railway station, a seaport, and a bus station.

If you decide to go to Da Nang, then the following information is presented in detail on our website:

Weather, tourist seasons

There is no reason not to go to Da Nang because of the weather at one time or another of the year: it is always warm and cozy here. But it is conventionally customary to distinguish two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season (wet season).

The hottest period in Da Nang is from August to September, when the average temperature is 33°C-34°C. The lowest average temperature from December to February is 18°C-19°C, but the daytime during this period is still hot and even more comfortable than other periods, and only at night the temperature drops.

dry season, which is also the high season for tourists, lasts from January to August. This time is considered ideal for visiting central Vietnam. The best time for a "bathing" holiday is the period from May to August, since at this time there are practically no waves on the sea. The lowest rainfall is from January to April.

Rain season lasts from September to December. This time is the low season for visiting tourists: it is hot at this time, there can be frequent, but short-term heavy rains (the most precipitation falls in October and November). Sometimes in September-October, typhoons, heavy rainstorms and floods can hit the coast, but more often it happens that the weather is excellent even in the off-season. It is in the low season that you can seriously save on a trip, as hotels sometimes drop prices by up to 50%.

Da Nang weather and forecast for the near future:

Travel agencies in Da Nang. Unfortunately, in Da Nang there is no single tourist area where you can find everything the tourist soul wants. Therefore, if you want to find a travel agency, you may have to decently climb around the city. As a last resort, you can buy or book tickets or excursions at any hotel.

Information in Russian. Immediately upon arrival at Da Nang Airport, at the baggage counters on the ground floor, you can find a lot of useful information in Russian. In addition to brochures, you can find maps of Da Nang, Hue, Hoi An, descriptions of tours and excursions. You will not find such information in Russian anywhere else, so do not forget to get it at the airport.

Motorcycle rental. Unfortunately, in Da Nang it is not so easy to rent a motorcycle for a few days to travel to another city, for example, to Hue. If you were denied this at a rental or a hotel, ask about it on the street from taxi drivers, in moto workshops, or just from passers-by. Everything will be arranged for you quickly.

From Hoi An to Da Nang, it turns out cheaper, oddly enough. In 2011, we drove to the airport for 200,000 dong. Moreover, when they were looking for a taxi (the day before the trip), I offered to pay in dollars, 15 dollars, which is even more, the taxi driver refused. Toli does not know how to count, or something else, in general, for 200,000, which was less than 10 dollars then, we arrived. Now the prices have risen a little, but I think within $ 15 you will meet. ...
