Overview of Da Nang city in Vietnam

A few years ago, one could say that Da Nang is a place where no Russian tourist has ever set foot. The third largest city in Vietnam has not been spoiled by the attention of either Russian or European tourists for a long time. Even travelers regarded Da Nang as a point from where it is convenient to get from the north of the country to the southern resorts. There are still no inscriptions and signs in Russian, and sometimes there is not even an English translation in the menu. The resort is popular with the Chinese and Vietnamese. But it is in Da Nang, according to Forbs, that one of the best beaches in the world is located - China Beach.

Da Nang is Central Vietnam, a city with ancient history, founded in the 2nd century by immigrants from Indonesia and later becoming part of one of the kingdoms of Champa. In the 18th century, European and Japanese maritime traders began to explore it, preferring it as a port city instead of Hoi An. And in the 19th century, the French settled in it, making it the center of the colonial administration and renaming it Turan. As in Saigon, the colonial period left behind a fairly well-developed city economy - Da Nang became an important transport hub, commercial and industrial center.

The war with America made Da Nang even more famous - the US naval base was located there. The city at that time was well invested, which gave an additional impetus to its development.

Today's Da Nang is a dynamically developing industrial city with huge tourism potential. Europeans and Australians have already chosen it, and a wave of Russian tourists is on the way. There is an international airport, the Russian Consulate General, a sea port, and a railway station. Da Nang is one of the first surf centers in Vietnam; during the rainy season, fans of this sport come here from all over the world.

For tourists, this is a real paradise. Luxurious hotels, the same beaches, amazing nature and historical monuments - there is everything for a varied and eventful holiday.

How to get there?

You can get to Da Nang by any means of transport - by plane, train, bus. It is more convenient to do this from Hanoi, since it is closer than Ho Chi Minh City. There are no direct flights from Russia here, but you can immediately buy an air ticket to Da Nang, and, having made a transfer in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, fly to your destination. It is best to take a taxi from the airport to the city center, it is inexpensive - 100,000 dong or about $ 5. On the counter and even cheaper. In no case should you agree to prices of 10 or even 15 dollars, this is a Vietnamese "scam".

Since Da Nang is a kind of road junction of the country, trains going in both directions will inevitably end up here. Traveling by rail is an opportunity to relax after a flight and admire the country along the way.

An intercity bus is faster than a train, but given the Vietnamese love for high-speed driving. This is a more extreme journey than a train ride.

Where to stay?

Da Nang offers tourists accommodation of various levels - from luxurious 5 * hotels to inexpensive guesthouses. Housing prices are low. If you plan to stay in an expensive hotel, and even more so in a beach hotel, you need to book rooms. If not, then 3 * hotels and even more so cheap accommodation are always at your service. Now the main spa hotels are being built on the Son Cha peninsula in the northern part of Da Nang. A resort area is gradually being formed there, which in the future, perhaps, will attract most of the Russian tourists from Nha Trang and Mui Ne.

Weather and seasons

Like the whole Central part of Vietnam, Da Nang is somewhat different in seasons. The dry season is from January to July, the wet season is from August to December. Here the temperatures are even more moderate than in Hoi An, because Da Nang is the northernmost point of the tropical climate zone. The average annual temperature is 26 C, in summer it rises to 30 C, the water warms up to 28 C. If you want to know when is the best time to relax, then see the article at the link.

October and November are the months when staying in Da Nang can be unsafe due to constant powerful typhoons. Winter time is not a swimming season, although the air temperature does not drop significantly. But the water is cold, not higher than 22 C. The best time to visit Da Nang is from May to August.

sights

There are almost none in the city itself. But walking around Da Nang will be a pleasure, the city is quite beautiful, modern and well-groomed. And one more circumstance will please tourists - these are city roads that are not loaded with transport and the absence of fuss.

Another interesting place that cannot be ignored is the Museum of Cham Sculpture, which contains the oldest and largest collection of statues of the Cham civilization in the world.

You definitely need to get to the Hai Van Pass in order to see the panorama of the city, beaches, the sea and the Truong Son Range from a height of 1500 meters. And also to stand on the border of two parts of the country - North and South - and at the junction of two climatic zones.

To ride the longest cable car in the world, you need to go to Mount Ba Na. There is a mountain resort of the same name. The cable car is listed in the Guinness Book of Records - its length is 5770 meters, and the elevation difference between the end points is 1369 meters.

An excursion to the Marble Mountains will not leave you indifferent. They rise above the plain and are completely composed of marble of different colors. On one of the mountains there is a Buddhist temple, and not far from them there is an artisan village where this noble stone is processed.
