Journey into the world of abandoned estates. Romance of the abandoned estates of the Leningrad region Tour of the abandoned estates

In the city of Biysk, located in the Altai Territory, which is undoubtedly closer to the Chinese Mongolian and Kazakh borders than to the capital, a building Passage of the merchant of the first guild Mikhail Klevtsov is the real power of history, for it symbolizes the conquest of outlying Russian lands by merchants. The building was built in 1890 near the local bazaar and became the first shopping mall cities. It was executed in the "eclectic" style characteristic of that time, which mixed the pleasures of all eras, European and Russian architectural motifs, ostentatious pomp and boasting. Passage Klevtsov became a meeting place for local dandies who ordered Chinese silks here to sew dresses in Parisian fashion. But the gallery could not withstand the onslaught of revolutionary sentiments and went bankrupt, caught up in a whirlwind of reforms. Until the Second World War, the Altai University and the workshop of a famous sculptor were sheltered here, then the municipal library and the training academy for young collective farmers. They say that Mr. Klevtsov continued to hide his gold in the cellars, which certainly attracted the attention of the Siberian Chekists in the dark thirties. The merchant was arrested, traces of him were lost in history. From 1941 to 2005 Passage Klevtsov served as a military hospital. Today, although the building retains its brilliance, it is gradually and inexorably destroyed, since its administrative affiliation cannot be divided between the Ministry of Defense and the city authorities.

The building of the old Tver railway station

In Tver or Soviet Kalinin, 163 km northwest of Moscow, on the way to St. Petersburg, you can find the building of an old railway station which is a grandiose and tragic spectacle. Built in 1938 at the confluence of the Volga with its tributary Tvertets, the building in the Stalinist neo-imperial style, with a total capacity of 550 passengers, served the entire Soviet period of history and continued to function until the early 2000s. Since then majestic building, which has a certain harmony, strict and impressive at the same time, began to rapidly collapse like a decrepit, absurd throne. The well-known gallery owner Marat Gelman, who did a lot for the cultural revival of Perm, stressed back in 2011 that it was necessary to think about the new purpose of this magnificent building on the water and its restructuring under Cultural Center as its roof is already in need of a complete restoration. But so far nothing has been done railroad station dies, losing the irresistible charm of post-colonial cities, under the supervision of the last and only guards - stray dogs. Maybe the building is just paying for what was built on the site of the destroyed monastery? Even photographs from the Soviet years neatly hide the nearby church, the only remnant of an old religious architectural complex.

Old Tver Station is located at: Moscow region, Tver, nab. Afanasia Nikitina, 3.

Half-timbered house or house of Osip Girshfeld

The center of the city of Samara, the southern Russian fortress on the Volga, hides a house unique in terms of Russian architecture, which tells the story of a very remarkable character. The German Jew Osip Hirschfeld is from small town Rovno arrives in Samara after completing his studies in Kazan. A very young lawyer is hired by a small firm, where he begins to work even with thieves, believing that every person has the right to protection. He finds himself in an environment of revolutionary-minded youth, who begins to visit his apartment too often. Therefore, he decides to leave this society and tightly engage in a career that is developing very well. In the house that he bought in 1903 on Frunze Street (old Saratovskaya Street), he more and more often misses his homeland and even brings German servants with whom he behaves on an equal footing. He gets into the club of local German colonists and helps his compatriots a lot with money. For this, as a sign of gratitude, the German community is building a new half-timbered wing in the courtyard of his house, quite special, with a small tower and a bay window. This peculiar architectural UFO, from which some museum would inevitably have been created long ago in Europe, is being destroyed more and more every year, and lovers of unusual tourism remain its only connoisseurs.

Elsa's cottage

In the city of Pyatigorsk, which is located on the edge of the Caucasus, the so-called " Elsa's cottage"continues to intrigue with its story - fascinating and deadly. The popular confectioner Arshak Gukasov, having arrived from Baku, found success, luck and love in this resort town- Elizaveta Vlasyevna, daughter of a wealthy German merchant. In 1905, the couple built a luxurious mansion with 62 rooms, outwardly similar to medieval castle, which became a popular boarding house called " Elsa's cottage". The Gukasovs furnished the boarding house according to the latest fashion, but their love was powerless in the face of the problem of infertility. After the divorce, Elsa was left alone and tried to forget herself in work and social entertainment. They say that then a beautiful woman began to communicate with dark forces in order to get good luck in business. Rumors are also full of stories about her death: either it was suicide, or the Bolsheviks burned and walled her up in her own boarding house, because she did not want to give up her treasures. There are different versions of the legend, but they agree on one thing, Elsa never found peace, she still wanders outside the walls of her castle, terrorizing men and inspiring women. " Elsa's cottage» today belongs to a certain businessman who wants to restore it, but does not do this, despite the recognition of the building as an object of architectural heritage of regional significance. The castle is already half in ruins and today continues to attract lovers of ghost stories, poets and adherents of satanic rituals.

Sea Sivuchya Rock, which is located on the southern tip of Sakhalin Island, has always been known dangerous place for sailors. Manor of the architect Khrenov

Around station Lykoshino, which is not far from the city of Valdai, Tver Region, is located abandoned manor. She appeared in this quiet corner on the shore forest lake around the middle of the 19th century, commissioned by the St. Petersburg architect A.S. Khrenov, who wanted to retire among the forests in order to draw inspiration from nature. It is considered that farmstead Conclusion was built according to the architect's own design. The project was very extravagant for the countryside, as it looked like a medieval European castle. In addition, the structure was asymmetrical and built from a wide variety of materials: brick was combined with stone, wood and metal. The estate gradually grew with new buildings, but Khrenov's house remained the most unusual building. Its owner, Alexander Sergeevich, having played enough with a new toy, packed his bags and moved to China permanently. V the estate of the Conclusion a pioneer camp arrived, and bright representatives of that era immediately appeared in the park - concrete boys and girls in ties. After the pioneer camp, there was a tuberculosis sanatorium here, after which to this day lovers of terrible stories talk about a certain evil old man who died within the walls of the sanatorium and still wanders around the rooms.

Khrapovitsky's estate

In the village of Muromtsevo, which is just a few kilometers from the city of Sudogda, Vladimir Region, on 40 hectares of land there is a luxurious with a huge castle in the middle. This estate complex can be safely called an example of Russian pride, because it was built solely in order to win a frivolous bet between the nobles. According to legend, the colonel argued with a certain French baron that he could build a castle in Russia that would not be inferior in grandeur to the French. The Frenchman mockingly replied that if such a castle was built in Russia, he himself would come to see it. Returning home, the colonel immediately hired one of the best architects of that time - PS Boitsov. The estate, built in the style of a medieval German castle with a hint of a French chateau, was an architectural anomaly in the Russian landscape. And as far as is known, the Frenchman fulfilled his part of the bet - he really came to visit. Unfortunately, after the revolution, Khrapovitsky was forced to flee his luxurious creation and is said to have died in poverty. His exquisite estate was originally a school, during the Great Patriotic War it became a hospital, but, in the end, was abandoned. And only in the last few years it began to gradually restore.

Reviews of tourists

We recently took a tour of the abandoned estates. And I can say that we definitely did not regret it! We would never have seen it ourselves and would not have known what beauties there are or were very close to home. We are like modern people so often we strive to other countries and other continents, but how often we do not know and do not appreciate our history, our native places. We are very grateful to George for our enlightenment. I really liked that he not only completed the program, but also went beyond its boundaries, showed and talked about the sights that were along the way and not so much. It can be seen that Georgy is rooting for the disappearing heroes of his excursion, doing his job with all his heart. I really hope that there will be as many such informal excursions as possible over time, which will allow us and our children to get to know our wonderful city much deeper and it will also not be boring)

We went on this tour, relying on the description and reviews, we really counted on an amusing trip, but, as they say, apparently not fate. At our request, the tour was reduced to visiting two sites. 4 hours tour of 20 minutes to the object and three hours and twenty minutes on the road. George, it is clear that a knowledgeable and interested person cannot talk and drive in parallel, several times we almost got into an accident. Therefore, in the course of the movement, we did not ask him anything. Absolutely short description in place. My foreign guests they called it the worst time in St. Petersburg, and so I wanted to show them something unusual. The idea is interesting, but the organization is “in Russian”. If you hire a driver so that you can talk along the way, and a more comfortable car, the impressions will probably be more positive.

Super tour from start to finish. The places were wonderful, and were brought to life by Georgi, who was very prepared, and knew detail upon detail. He also speaks English, which was a bonus we hadn't expected.

Wonderful tour from start to finish. The places that Georgy took us to just came to life. George told a lot interesting facts, accompanied the story with unique old photographs, answered any questions. At the same time, he spoke English, which was a bonus that we did not expect. Many thanks!

I was really looking forward to this excursion! Six months before the trip, I already knew that we would definitely visit it! We were alone with my husband. We spent 8 hours very comfortably. legends, conjectures. imperceptible and unobtrusive, we had personal time for contemplation and photography. A wonderful tour, I advise everyone!

We recently took a tour of the abandoned estates. And I can say that we definitely did not regret it! Hello! Can I write a response to Artem to this review?
Dear Artem! I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the tour. However, a few points need to be canceled: you did not warn me that you only have 4 hours for the tour instead of the planned 8. You asked me to pick you up from the hotel on Nevsky and I went to meet you, which increased the road to leave the city for an hour. This tour always ends at the Moskovskaya metro station. However, your friends needed much further and we spent another hour in traffic jams just to take them from Moskovskaya to the right address. Thus, 2 hours and even more of the 4 that you yourself took from the very beginning on the tour went to transport your guests and it was not at all my fault.
I don’t know what you mean by an accident, but we didn’t get into one and in 10 years of driving I still, thank God, had no accidents. Finally, you paid me significantly less than the amount indicated for the excursion, and, as you put it, I agreed with this purely in Russian, although the time of the excursion was reduced through no fault of mine, but in the end I spent no less than usual. I also do not agree that I did not talk much about the objects, I talked all the time, just your guests and you went to different sides and did not listen to me at the same time.
I think that when traveling out of town you need to plan your time better. I wish you pleasant impressions and travels!

Super tour from start to finish. The places were wonderful, and were brought to life by Georgi, who was very prepared, and knew detail upon detail. He also speaks English, which was a bonus we hadn't expected.

Wonderful tour from start to finish. The places that Georgy took us to just came to life. George told a lot of interesting facts, accompanied the story with unique old photographs, and answered any questions. At the same time, he spoke English, which was a bonus that we did not expect. Many thanks!

I liked the tour very much. The travel plan is well drawn up, the historical material is excellently presented, this is the story about the estates and their inhabitants, and additional photographs, and an excellent reserve for the future. I would like to visit these places more than once, for example, in the summer, take a walk in the parks, feel the grandeur of the former pearls of architecture, feel the spirit of the era. Of course, when you see state of the art buildings seizes the soul with quiet sadness. It is a pity to say that when something really worthwhile and beautiful is destroyed. Thank you very much to George, both for organizing, and for presenting history, and in general for opening such a direction.

We highly recommend this excursion! Many thanks to the tour guide George for interesting stories, attentive attitude to everyone. The day just flew by))) it’s a pity that no one is restoring the estates, that they are really abandoned and in a few years they will not be at all (((I would also like to note and say thank you for dinner in Kirche with Father Pavel, everything was very Be sure to visit this excursion, you will not regret it.

Thanks a lot for the tour! Ordered as a gift for a lover of abandoned places. The gift was a success, the lover is delighted! :) Atmospheric places that you want to return to. Interesting program. Now we are waiting for "Journey to the world of abandoned estates-2"! :)

No toilet stops. What you're warning doesn't matter when "you want to go to the bathroom". There is very little description of organizational moments. The guide knows the history well enough. But when you are swiped on the tablet with a finger with unremoved stitches, pants are hanging on the guide, and he looks like he drank until the morning, this slightly erases the overall impression of the tour. A lot of smacking, almost at the end of every sentence.
In general: the impressions from the objects of visit are good, it is a pity that everything is destroyed so quickly, and no one is engaged in restoration. Save the route. The guide can be changed. Thank you.

Dear Anastasia, thank you for the four stars! I will definitely take into account your criticism and will focus on visiting the restroom before leaving. Our itinerary is built in such a way that in the middle of the journey the whole group has lunch and visits the restroom in Kirche. There are two restrooms "M" and "F". If additional requests come in, I usually stop at a gas station. I will, as I said, emphasize this moment on the bus so that everyone knows that we have a toilet!)

As for the rest, I will give an example. Unfortunately, I do not remember you personally, but I remember that during last excursion one girl was very unhappy with the fact that she paid 200 rubles for a three-course dinner, but she did not like pasta in the Navy and she wanted another dish. There was no dining room in Kirche and there were no other dishes. But especially for her, the priest's wife cooked buckwheat porridge with meat and the whole group waited for the client to finish eating.

I gave this example just to let you know that we really try to make sure you enjoy everything. I personally developed this, without exaggeration, unique route, collected information about collapsing buildings and will try to make the tour the best I can, taking into account your criticism.

Excellent excursion! Time flew by unnoticed. Thanks George!

Thank you so much for the tour "Abandoned Manor". I liked everything very much: excellent organization, a comfortable bus, an interesting and erudite guide, majestic estates, gorgeous nature, weather and a delicious lunch in the Church of St. John the Baptist .... All this gave me a good mood, a wonderful day off and nice pictures. I recommend to everyone!

I visited the fascinating excursion "Abandoned Estates" and was not only satisfied, but greatly impressed! Wonderful guide George, great organization, amazing event and even the weather, I was pleasantly surprised! Travel time flew by unnoticed, we still remember my little adventure)) Free time for photography, also turned out to be a very good bonus, the photos from the tour turned out to be very picturesque.
