Metro, MCC and commuter trains will carry residents of the capital until 02:00, and trolleybuses, buses and trams - until 03:00.
The mode of operation of public transport will change on Christmas Eve (from 6 to 7 January). Metro, Moscow Central Circle (MCC) and suburban electric trains will operate until 02:00. Buses, trolleybuses and trams on 165 routes will run until 03:00. In addition, passengers will be able to use 13 regular night routes.
“Of course, the Christmas service in large metropolitan churches can go on almost all night. However, the majority of citizens and tourists do not usually stand for a full festive service, so city transport runs until two or three in the morning. This is quite enough to have time to get home. Let me remind you that security has been strengthened during the holidays, I ask Muscovites and guests of Moscow to treat these forced measures with understanding,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
New Year, as well as related holidays, residents and guests of the capital Russian Federation usually celebrated in a big way. Most Muscovites adjust their schedule so that the whole family can get together on December 31, and also from January 6 to 7, on Christmas Eve. Citizens move en masse throughout the capital using public transport.
To optimize the passenger transportation system, certain adjustments were made to the operation of the metro and the MCC. The transport provided for the movement of passengers will operate after 12 midnight from 6 to 7 January.
How will the metro and MCC work on Christmas Eve?
New Year's Eve suburban trains carried out their activities until 2 am, and the metro worked around the clock, providing the opportunity for convenient movement throughout Moscow. The MCC, as well as 59 routes designed for land transport, were able to transport people throughout New Year's Eve.
Christmas Eve is approaching, and in 2019, its leaders also made adjustments to the operating mode of the metro, allowing you to move freely throughout the capital. In the period from January 6 to 7, the metro will be able to carry passengers until 2 am, which will allow interested citizens to move freely throughout Moscow without experiencing certain inconveniences. The modified schedule is needed in order to provide the ability to travel to key temples and sites.
It is worth paying attention to the fact that in the schedule of the Moscow central ring also made adjustments to allow it to be used until 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
Operating hours of ground transport
Christmas is a rather serious holiday, especially revered by all Orthodox residents of Russia. With this in mind, authorized persons who are busy setting schedules for the operation of the ground public transport, prepared 163 routes. Thanks to their implementation, public transport will be able to transport citizens throughout Moscow until 3 am.
Some buses with less passenger traffic, which operate in the capital on 11 routes, will continue to operate according to the regular schedule set for non-holidays. Continuous and extended New Year's Eve
On the night of December 31, 2017 to January 1, 2018, the operating hours of ground public transport routes in the capital will change.
Compared to last year, when routes with extended hours ran all night, they have now been divided into two groups. More numerous were routes that will operate only the first half of the night.
Opening hours will be extended until 1:30 a.m. bus routes №№ 11 and 15 in Zelenograd.
Until 3:30 am will work:

Five nights in a row, starting from the night of December 29 to 30 and ending on the night of January 2 to 3, night bus routes change:

It is not known what prevented (similar to the temporary merging of clippings of "trunk" routes) from directing the route No. H1 bypassing blocked areas, for example, along Garden Ring, leaving an inseparable connection between Leningradsky and Leninsky prospects.
- No. m5- from the side of Nagorny Boulevard it is shortened to Balchug Street instead of the Lubyanka metro station;
- № 38 - from the side of the Rizhsky railway station, it is shortened to the Trubnaya metro station instead of the Kitai-Gorod metro station;
- № 158 - from the side of the 3rd Paveletsky passage, it is shortened to Balchug street instead of the Lubyanka metro station.
Note that the route № 158 works for the first time on New Year's Eve. Flights of the route were scheduled last year № 632 , and before that they extended the mode of operation of the route № 13 - all of them serve the area of Paveletsky passages. But instead of bypassing the blocked section of Varvarka Street along B. Ustyinsky Bridge and Solyanka Street, the transport workers chose a simple shortening of the route to an unpopular stop.
Last year, traffic in the city center was blocked for festivities only from 19-20 pm on December 31 until the morning of January 1, so the changes in the routes of the "Magistrali" were much more short-lived.
On the "trees" - by bus
From December 22, 2017 to January 14, 2018, a special bus route has been organized to deliver spectators to New Year's performances at the Luzhniki Stadium "L""Metro "Sportivnaya" - GGTsKZ "Russia" with an intermediate stop "Circus of the Zapashny Brothers".
The route will operate during concert hours, providing delivery of the audience "there" and "back" at short intervals "according to filling":
- December 22 and January 12 - from 17:00 to 22:00;
- 23, 24, 29, 30 December, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 13 January - from 9:00 to 22:00;
- 25, 26, 27, 28 December - from 13:00 to 22:00;
- December 31 and January 14 - from 9:00 to 18:00;
- January 1 - from 10:00 to 22:00.
Unlike the last few years, the route route has been changed. Boarding at the Sportivnaya metro station is carried out at the northern lobby on 10th Anniversary of October Street, since the southern one is closed for repairs until May 2018. Buses from the metro go along 10th Anniversary of October Street, Luzhnetsky Proyezd and Luzhniki Street, back - along Luzhniki Street , Novoluzhnetsky passage, side passage of Komsomolsky avenue, st. There are no stops traditional for past seasons for boarding and disembarking at the Central Overpass from the side of the Luzhniki Stadium this year. Therefore, this year the route has become useless for passengers arriving in Luzhniki through the MCC station of the same name: the path from it to the bus stop near the metro is comparable to the distance to the performance venues.
In addition, from January 1, the procedure for entering buses will be changed - boarding will become possible at all doors, and the turnstiles will be turned off. Considering that some of them will work all New Year's Eve, the question remains, at what hour will boarding buses begin according to the new rules.
