What to do on Sentosa. Sentosa Island - the center of entertainment in Singapore

Sentosa Island is a wonderful tropical island located 500 meters south of Singapore. It is visited annually by about five million tourists and this is no accident. After all, here are only the most best beaches, parks, attractions - this is a kind of Asian mini-Disneyland for adults and children.

A bit of the history of Sentosa Island.

The modern name Sentosa, which he received in 1972, means “peace of calm” in Malay, although the island can hardly be called calm. Vibrant yet flourishing night life, - all this makes the island popular and attractive for many tourists.

Once upon a time, the island had a completely different reputation and name. It was called "land after death" or in the original Pulau Belakang Mati. There are several versions of why this happened. According to one of them, pirates buried their numerous victims on this island, according to another, in the 19th century a huge number of people died on it due to an epidemic. In any of these cases, the island was still associated with the afterlife. The next stage in the life of the island turned out to be the most ordinary, it was a simple fishing village.

However, a little later, thanks to their own, the British transferred it to the system of fortifications, which later played a huge role in World War II. And only many years later, in 1972, the island turned into a resort. And today, Sentosa is a favorite place for many residents of megacities and tourists for an unforgettable vacation.

How to get to the island?

2. The second way is to get on the monorail. The fare is three Singapore dollars, taking into account the entrance to the island. Opening hours from 7 am to midnight. To do this, you need to go to the pier of the Sentosa Express monorail near HarbourFront and board it. After three stops, you will reach your destination.

3. The third way and, perhaps, the most expensive Cable car. Despite this, it is one of the favorite ways for tourists, even a little outlandish, however high price more than compensated beautiful view from the window. To enjoy the beautiful view of Sentosa from above, you can simply take the cable car at Mount Faber or HarbourFront Center every day from 8.45 to 22.00. The prices for the road are as follows: in both directions for an adult you will have to pay 26 Singapore dollars, and for a child 15. In the same direction for an adult - 25 dollars, and for a child 14. The price includes entrance to the island.

4. With a car. Not the most convenient way, since for each person in the car you will have to pay a fee of 10 dollars at the entrance to the island. Also, the authorities of Sentosa charge a fee for the entry of vehicles. You can leave the car only in specially equipped parking lots on the island.

5. By bus. In order to try out the bus option, you first need to get to the HarbourFront station. The starting point of the bus to Sentosa is the HarbourFront Centre.

famous landmarks

Everything on the island is done to surprise and please tourists. In a word, this is a real tourist paradise where you can find absolutely everything and even more. Let's look at the places that you just need to visit.

The main tourist symbol of Singapore in the form of an eight-meter mythical figure. It is the head of a lion with a tail like a fish. In other words - . It is with him that the legend of the current name of the island is connected. No wonder Singapore in Sanskrit means "Lion City".

This is a kind of nursery with a wide variety of butterflies fluttering everywhere. They surprise with their size and unusual colors. They are happy to demonstrate their attractiveness to tourists and willingly sit on their hands. The collection of butterflies is more than 3000 species.

Sky tower Carlsberg (Sky Tower).

This is the highest observation platform Singapore, rising to 135 meters. It gives a panoramic view of the island. She has a rather original design in the form of a disk cabin, around the entire perimeter of which there are observation glazed windows. The cabin rises up the tower and rotates at the same time. The capacity is 72 people.

Fort Siloso.

It is located in the western part of the island. It was built in 1880 to protect the western approach to Keppel Harbour. This is the only fort that has survived to this day, defending Singapore during the Second World War. On the this moment, in it you can see many preserved military exhibits. There are also bunkers, tunnels, firing points. You can read more about

Universal Studios Amusement Park

Sentosa is a "mini-Singapore" with a whole parade of entertainment. Everyone who visits this place will undoubtedly find his paradise for a wonderful holiday. On our website you can find

Sentosa: how to get there, prices and hotels on the entertainment island of Singapore

Singapore Disneyland is Sentosa Island in Indian Ocean. One of the largest and most famous amusement parks in Asia, which is located just half a kilometer from itself. Singaporeans have fun just like they live - with the latest science and technology.

Already the road here is a real attraction, and entertainment on this island is for every taste and age. So, for example, do you know how to properly feed huge stingrays? Or have you ever seen a 3D cartoon show created using laser projection in the sky? Or maybe you like rides and would like to visit Universal Studios? Well, you are unlikely to see performances of pink dolphins anywhere, because they are only here, on Sentosa Island.

There are so many entertainments on Sentosa that you can easily spend a whole week here, especially if you are 9-10 years old, then you generally want to stay here. This is paradise! Some do just that, booking a hotel not in Singapore itself, but here, on the island, they live and have fun until they have enough strength.

But for me today, this option is a controversial decision. A few years ago, when I was going to Singapore for the first time, I intended to do just that, to settle on Sentosa Island. After all, this the only place in Singapore where there is an acceptable beach. It seemed to me then that the whole of Asia is necessarily a beach holiday. But that trip fell through, and when I visited Singapore, I realized that it was good that I did not live on Sentosa.

After all, the beach there is very conditional (from my point of view). Here, of course, there is sand, and the sea, and palm trees, but compared to the cleanest Thai beaches on the islands, the beaches here are like in an industrial area. At least, what I saw here did not inspire me in any way.
So, in my opinion, neither Singapore itself, nor Sentosa for beach holiday not suitable. It is best to go to the islands located near Singapore, for example, Bintan. Others coming islands To Singapore these are Sibu, Tinggi and the biggest Tioman.

But fortunately, beaches are not the only possible entertainment on Sentosa Island. Because Sentosa Island is one hell of a lot of fun.

How to get to Sentosa

For starters, you need to take the northeast metro line (North East Line) get to the station Harbor Front. Next, you will need to go up to the third floor of the shopping center VivoCity.

And then you have several options (be sure to check the information on the official site at the time of the trip) I found a lot of outdated or incorrect information on the Russian-language Internet.

The cheapest way to get to Sentosa

The cheapest way to get to Sentosa is by walking along the Sentosa Boardwalk. This is a pedestrian road connecting Sentosa and Singapore. It is located parallel to the road bridge to this island.

The upper level with a conveyor belt, like in airports, delivers people directly to the main entrance, the lower level is for those who are willing and able to walk

Road hours: 24/7. Moving sidewalks are open from 7 am to 12 noon, every day. Ticket offices: from 9.00 to 18.00, every day.

Price: 1 Singapore dollar (even on foot

The easiest and fastest way to get to Sentosa

Since they still don’t let you go to Sentosa for free, you should think a little and get there by monorail

The road to Sentosa opens at 7 am.

Ticket price: 4 Singapore dollars (the entrance ticket to the territory of the island is already included).

The most romantic and most expensive way to get to Sentosa

One of the most expensive ways to get to Sentosa is by cable car or funicular. This is the way I chose. When else will you visit Singapore? Well, it's practically an attraction.

Opening hours of the Sentosa funicular: from 8.45 to 22.00.

Ticket price: Ticket for an adult tourist - 13 Singapore dollars, round trip with an entrance ticket to the territory - 29 dollars.

I chose the latter method, decided to boo, so to speak. And I liked it!

I had never ridden a funicular before. And here was the opportunity to experience this pleasure.

To get to the cable car cabins, you need to go through shopping center VivoCity along the long corridor following the signs:

Buy a ticket at the box office and take the elevator to the 15th floor

There we ended up in a rather gloomy zone, similar to a depot in the subway or a factory floor, where a queue of several people waited for their booth

Well let's go...

In general, I do not regret at all that we used the most expensive option for self-delivery to Sentosa Island. The way back was even steeper, because the lights of Singapore were on, and we flew over a giant ocean liner standing here in the bay. Unforgettable feelings and views!

How to get around Sentosa

It seemed to me that Sentosa Island could be walked around, but nothing like that. No legs are enough for this, because. the island is quite large.
For tourists on Sentosa ply free buses that stop near attractions. You can get on and off these buses whenever you want.
The main thing is to figure it out and get on the right bus, because there are three routes at once and another tram to the beach. Because even here small island You have to be careful not to go the other way. It is clear that you can return, but everyone loses time on this, and in a time-limited journey, this is always very disappointing.

What you need to know about Sentosa

Singapore is generally famous for its strict rules on public behavior and various restrictive regulations. There are so many things that cannot be done and so many restrictions that this has long been the subject of various jokes.

But the rules here are no joke. There is security at the entrance to the island, no less serious than at the airport, so keep this in mind. Naturally, you will not be allowed here with weapons, explosives, piercing and cutting, screwdrivers (you never know what you will start to unscrew there), balloons(!!!) and even simply - you will not be allowed to bring your food and water to the island. So keep in mind that you won’t be able to save money by taking water or a can of stew from home, you will have to buy food and water on the island.

Where to buy and how much tickets for Sentosa rides cost:

Tickets are sold both at the box office at the entrance and directly at the box office next to the rides. It is most advantageous to buy them in sets of various combinations for one, two or three days, in order to immediately be able to get on several attractions, so you can save a lot.

It is more convenient to do this in advance on the park website, so as not to stand in line. Moreover, there are options for special offers available only on the site.

Opening hours of Sentosa Park (Sentosa)

The island itself works around the clock (after all, people live there in hotels), but all the attractions are closed and events are curtailed after dark. As far as I know, the latest show ends at 21.00

And some, like shows with dolphins, are even held at certain hours, so when planning your visit to Sentosa, be sure to take this into account. Univeral Studios opens at 10 am, which is the same time most Sentosa Amusement Park rides open.

How much time do you need on Sentosa

In order to properly get around everything here and have fun with all kinds of entertainment, even a week may not be enough. You definitely need two or three days, but I had a little less than a whole day left, so I had to choose. I think hard about which attractions I should visit first. In a good way, I would like to spend a couple of days here. If I was 10 years old, I would take my parents here every weekend 8)

Things to do in Sentosa

As many as two oceanariums, 4d cinemas, gardens and a mini zoo with peacocks walking free, the Historical Wax Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Butterfly and Insect Park, Cinemamania virtual reality cinema and a laser show, there is an opportunity to indulge in spa treatments , dine in restaurants with different cuisines, or sunbathe on local beaches. The highest observation tower in the country, Sky Tower, was also built on Sentosa.

As I said, I had less than a whole day, so I had to choose.

I decided to leave the Universal Studios park for another visit here, because. In general, I don’t really like this kind of rides, for some reason, from the age of 12, I consider myself too mature for all these amusement parks and Disneylands.

What I would definitely like is the Oceanarium and the Laser show Songs of the sea (at that time it was), in fact, these were the two main points that I wanted to get to, first of all, the rest was indicated in my program as optional, if I can. I managed to watch the show with pink dolphins and ride the Luge. All this, plus a foot massage with garra rufa fish, was included in the package ticket.
I only regret that before my trip here I didn’t figure out that there are two oceanariums on Sentosa, and therefore I looked at only one of them, the old one - Underwater World. Now I will go to see the S.E.A. Aquarium, which is much larger and more modern than most aquariums on our planet.

Sentosa Island Map - All Attractions and Attractions

If you are guided by the map I attached, then in half a day I managed to get around, go around only the right side of Sentosa (where the red dots are).

Well, in the next part of my story about Sentosa (in a few days), I will show my detailed photo report from those entertainment events on Sentosa Island, which I managed to visit. Subscribe to my blog updates so you don't miss out 8)

We continue to talk about our trip to Singapore. Of course, it's very cool, but people often go to Singapore to see Sentosa Island.

Sentosa itself (in the lane "island of tranquility") is a relatively small island adjacent to Singapore, which has a huge number of different parks, beaches and attractions. In fact, Sentosa is an island of entertainment in Singapore. To carefully study it in one day, try to come here as early as possible and stock up on a decent amount. Although a lot of emotions can be obtained with a small budget.

How to get to Sentosa Island from Singapore

There are several ways to get to Sentosa Island from Singapore. The fact is that there is no direct metro to the island. Therefore, before you get to the island itself, first of all you need to get to the Harbor Front metro station. The best way to do this is, of course, on the metro itself. On foot from the city it makes sense to go here only if you are staying nearby.

Sentosa Island on the map of Singapore:

So, you are at the Harbor Front metro station. There is a huge shopping center here, as well as ticket offices for selling tickets for attractions (you can also buy them on the spot). Nearby, on the racks, they took a map of Sentosa Island. We wandered around a little more and took a few photos, scouting the territory:

From here, you can immediately continue your route to Sentosa Island, either spend your precious time hiking around the mall, or looking for the most suitable dish for you in a local and quite good food court. Personally, we are not shopaholics, but the “eating” procedure took us a lot of time, because. have not yet had time to learn how to understand local and national dishes. Probably, only half an hour they walked and stared at who was doing what, where there was more excitement. Barely choosing each of their dishes, managed to eat:

For reference, on average, each dish costs from 5-10 sing.$ (≈150-300 rubles). Our dinner for two cost 14 sing.$ (≈420 rubles). In principle, usually local dishes are accompanied by "bonuses", such as broth, for example, i.e. You can easily fill up with just one serving. After spending a lot of time on food, we suddenly remembered why we came here 🙂 .

Now you need to get to the Sentosa Island itself. There are four options here:

On foot (Sentosa Boardwalk) - the journey takes less than a kilometer along a specially equipped bridge, where travelators operate in many sections, which help to overcome the distance much faster and easier. On weekdays, the passage here will cost 1 sing.$ (≈30 rubles). And on weekends it's free! They work around the clock.

Sentosa Express (Sentosa Express) – monorail Railway. It has 4 stops: Sentosa station - Waterfront station - Imbiah station - Beach station. The fare is 4 sing.$ (≈120 rubles). Opening hours: from 7.00 to 24.00, every 5-8 minutes.

Cable car with cabinsSingapore cable car) - This is the option that they originally wanted to use. There are 3 pick-up and drop-off points in the funicular route circuit. The starting point is on Mount Faber near the World Trade Center in Singapore, the intermediate one is not far from the Harbor Front metro station (Harbor Front Tower Two), the final one is in the center of Sentosa Island. The strangest thing is that regardless of whether you use this path in both directions, or one way, or use only part of the path, everyone will have to pay the same. Spending time looking for a landing spot on cable car, as a result, we abandoned this option, because they were counting on a completely different amount, because from the reports of fellow bloggers less than a year ago, the price tag was much easier. This pattern of globally raising prices for popular tourist attractions in a short period of time affected us not only in Singapore, but also in Thailand, Malaysia, incl. and in Borneo.

By car You can get to Sentosa via a bridge, and there is a fee to enter the island.

How to get around Sentosa Island

There are many ways to get around Sentosa Island, some of which are quite unusual.

Although Singapore is an expensive state, but at the same time on Sentosa, the island of entertainment, free transportation is arranged for public buses, which have three main routes with a traffic interval of 10 to 30 minutes from 7-9 am to 10.30 pm.

Sentosa Express (Sentosa Express) - all the same monorail railway, which I wrote about in the previous paragraph.

On foot- given the availability of free buses, it seemed to me that walking around Sentosa Island was a very difficult task. But in vain! Winding circles on the bus, we spent a lot of time and deprived ourselves of a walk through the most visited places of the entertainment island.

beach tram (Sentosa beach Tram) - runs along the beaches of Sentosa: Tanjong beach club, Palawan Beach and Siloso. Travel is free.

skyline Luge Sentosa unusual way to get around central part Sentosa Islands and coastline. A cable car takes you up the mountain, and you drive off in mini-cars along special paths. This is not only an opportunity to quickly and effortlessly climb the mountain (or go down), but also a very exciting attraction. Paid.

Hotels on Sentosa Island

Singapore is not a cheap country. Especially for those who are used to living or relaxing in neighboring countries South-East Asia. Singapore hotel prices leave much to be desired, not to mention Sentosa Island hotels. However, every traveler has their own budget. And why not arrange a holiday for yourself and at least for a day settle in luxury hotel entertainment islands in Singapore.

So, having studied the hotels of Sentosa Island in Singapore, here are my conclusions:

  • There are more than a dozen hotels on Sentosa Island.
  • There are several hotels for golf lovers.
  • Almost all Sentosa hotels are five-star.

At the time of this writing, the price level for a double room starts from 7,000 rubles per night. There are hotels with room rates of 25 thousand and villas in the price category of 30 thousand per day. You can see the current prices for hotels yourself by clicking on the "search" button and then select the required area of Singapore on the map (in our case, Sentosa Island):

Of course, the prices are outrageous. But sometimes you can make a small gift to your loved one 🙂 . Our travel style today is somewhat different, so we skip these popular hotels.

What to see and do in Sentosa Island Singapore

Sentosa Island has a lot to offer. My opinion is that before visiting it is necessary to make a plan, at least an approximate one. If you are here for the first time and are trying to be in time everywhere on your own, then you will definitely need preliminary preparation. For example, we traveled from the hostel to Sentosa Island for several hours, because. before that, they solved a bunch of other problems. After leaving our hmm ... "hotel", we were looking for another hostel for a long time in the hope of leaving our backpacks for storage for a day, because. v next night a budget overnight stay outside the hotels was planned. After going around a dozen hostels in our area that did not agree to store our modest luggage even for a moderate fee, we returned to our previous place of spending the night, agreeing that we would stay again at their place the next night. Under these conditions, we left our backpacks right in the corridor (where we picked them up a day later in the same position), and went to conquer Singapore 🙂. This is all to ensure that you try to put aside other business and plans on the day of visiting Sentosa in order to have time to fully imbue this island.

First of all, take a map of Sentosa Island (free map), which is freely distributed everywhere:

The Sentosa Attractions Map will not only help you navigate the area, it will also give you an idea of the prices for attractions and entertainment, plus information about transport.

So, what to see on Sentosa Island:

  • , which I have already described in detail in a previous article.
  • Merlion Plaza.
  • Siloso Fort is a World War II museum.
  • The park underwater world Underwater World Singapore is the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia, including a lagoon with dolphins.
  • Amusement park Universal Studios (you buy an entrance ticket and ride wherever you want).
  • Adventure Cove Waterpark.
  • Several viewing platforms: Merlion (head and mouth), Imbiah Lookaut, Tiger Sky Tower (formerly Carlsberg Sky Tower).
  • On Sentosa Island, you can see various theme parks, both paid and free: butterfly and insect park, bird park, orchid park and many others.
  • iFly free fall simulator.
  • 4D cinema.
  • Singapore History Museum (Faces of Singapore).
  • Golf courses.

And finally, some photos from our walk around Sentosa Island in Singapore:

I’m talking about Sentosa Island in Singapore: how to get to Sentosa, how to get around the island, what entertainments and attractions are on Sentosa and their prices, what to see, what to know, about beaches and hotels, our review and recommendations.

Sentosa - island of entertainment in Singapore

Sentosa Island is a small tropical island in the Indian Ocean, owned by Singapore. Not so long ago, the island was covered with tropical forests and monkeys and exotic birds roamed freely here 🙂 In fact, even now you can meet wild monkeys here (we didn’t see it), but we met peacocks freely walking along the beach 🙂

Peacocks roam freely around the island

The tourist infrastructure on the island began to develop rapidly in the 70s of the last century, when the Singapore government decided to make the island a popular tourist resort for local residents and tourists. By the way, the island received its current name "Sentosa", which means "Peace and Tranquility", only in 1972.

Various attractions and entertainments began to open on the island, and in order to get to Sentosa, a cable car, a monorail were built, and in 1992 the island was connected by a dam bridge to the mainland.

In 2006, Resorts World bought part of the island, and in 2007, large-scale construction of the Resorts World Sentosa complex began on Sentosa. This resort complex includes the Universal Studio amusement park, water park, the world's largest oceanarium, luxury five-star hotels, casinos, restaurants.

Pointers on the island

The construction lasted three years, and already in 2010, a huge amusement park Universal Studios Singapore, several hotels, casinos and new shows opened on Sentosa. More tourists visit Sentosa!

I must say that with the opening of new attractions and entertainment, old attractions began to close. For example, as it turned out, since the summer of 2016, the Underwater World aquarium, which was located in the western part of the island, has not been operating (and it is still marked on Google maps and, to be honest, I didn’t know that it was already closed!), but instead tourists visit the sea aquarium SEA Aquarium. An artificial volcano was also demolished, musical fountain, a statue of a dragon spewing a stream of water and dismantled the monorail around the island.

Crane Dance Show

The show "Dance of the Cranes" or as it is more commonly called the Show of Crane is a light and musical laser show that takes place every evening on the embankment next to the exit from the footbridge. This is a romantic dance - a story about the love of two cranes.

To be honest, I thought that the crane show was some kind of show with construction cranes, which are very numerous in the port near Sentosa Island 🙂 In fact, “Crane” is translated from English not only as “crane”, but also as “crane” 🙂 Watch the video and see for yourself:

Where to buy tickets

Now I’ll tell you where to buy tickets for all of the above entertainment 🙂

  • At any ticket office in the park
  • In advance on the official website, while buying online price may be lower
  • On various seating sites, I know that many tourists buy on Asiatravel, but I bought all tickets in Singapore, including the amusement park on Sentosa, on the Klook website, it turned out very good savings🙂 Above in the article, I gave links to tickets with discounts
  • You can buy a complex Fun Pass ticket, which allows you to visit several attractions at once. For example, choose any three from the list for 48 SGD or any 5 for 65 SGD, etc. See the photo below for options. Or buy online at the link.

The beaches of Sentosa

Sentosa is not just an island, but a tropical island, and even in the ocean, so many people think that Sentosa is a kind of beach paradise. In fact, this is not entirely true, or rather not at all 🙂

Yes, on south coast Sentosa has beaches and even as many as three, which stretch for 2 km:

  • Palawan Beach
  • Siloso Beach
  • Tanjong Beach

These beaches are artificially built, the sand for them was brought from the islands of Malaysia and Indonesia. Sentosa beaches are well equipped with lifeguards, awnings, very clean free toilets and showers, luggage storage, cafes and beach clubs.

BUT: you need to understand that Singapore is a port city and the sea next to it is not very clean, there are huge ships nearby in the roadstead. To be honest, I would not swim in the sea in Singapore, especially after the paradise beaches somewhere on 🙂 Although people swim ...

In my opinion, the sea in Singapore can be compared with the sea in a kind of sea and there are beaches, but it doesn’t feel like swimming. Therefore, to say that the beaches of Sentosa are perfect place for a beach holiday I can't.

In front of Palawan beach in the center coastline Sentosa Island is a small island, on it is the most south point mainland Asia 🙂 A funny swinging bridge leads to the island, an observation tower has been built on the shore, which you can climb.

Restaurants, cafes, food courts

Where to eat on Sentosa?

If you are not limited in funds, then where to have lunch or dinner on Sentosa you will find no problems, there are restaurants both on the coast, and at hotels, and in the center of the island near Universal Park.

I didn’t see food courts, at least large ones, on Sentosa. The nearest large and inexpensive food court on the mainland is in the VivoCity shopping center (by the way, I advise you to visit, there are so many delicious things there!).

The island has Starbucks, KFC, McDonald’s, the famous Hard Rock cafe, a Chinese dim sum restaurant Din Tai Fung, where we had dinner. By the way, food prices in Sentosa are slightly higher than in the center of Singapore.

And we're having dinner at my favorite Chinese restaurant.

Hotels on Sentosa are mostly five-star, their prices, like other hotels in Singapore, are high.

Sentosa Island is truly a real amusement park, where everyone will find something to do and what to see. If you flew to Singapore for 3-4 days (as we did to invest in conditions), then I advise you to take the time and visit Sentosa Island.

How long does it take to get to Sentosa? It’s hard to say, we were on the island all day and didn’t manage to do anything ... But I’ll say this, I don’t like to run headlong and stick my tongue out 🙂 just to see everything, I’d rather watch less, but at a calm pace.

Our day on Sentosa

That’s all I wanted to tell you about Sentosa Island in Singapore, I’ll immediately make a reservation that everything described above is just my opinion: I love various amusement parks, I try to visit them in all countries if possible, I haven’t been to such parks in America 🙂

Sentosa is an entertainment island near Singapore. On Sentosa there is a popular water park, a huge oceanarium and many other attractions and entertainment. There are beaches, shops, cafes and luxurious five-star hotels. In this article, I will tell you how to get to Sentosa in Singapore, and a detailed story and helpful information about Sentosa Island itself.

On the mainland next to the island is Harbor Front tube station. All routes to the island (except for cars 🙂) start from this metro station. Read about the subway in Singapore.

How to get to Sentosa

1. Cableway to Sentosa Mount Faber Line

The Mount Faber Line cable car goes in a circle from the metro station: Harbor Front - Mount Faber - Harbor Front - Sentosa - Harbor Front. At each station you can get off, walk and go further. You can also start your journey in the opposite direction, i.e. from Sentosa Island.

Cable car to Sentosa

The cost of the circular route on the Mount Faber Line: 33 SGD adult ticket and 22 SGD child ticket.

Opening hours of the cable car to Sentosa: 8:45 to 22:00 (last boarding at 21:30).

How to find: exit the Harbor Front metro station and follow the signs to the Cable Car station, go through the Harbor Front shopping center, a little down the street and get to the ticket office, buy a ticket, take the elevator to the 15th floor and take the cable car to Sentosa.

Important. In addition to the large cable car Mount Faber Line, there is a small cable car around Sentosa Island - Sentosa Line, which consists of three stations and connects the large cable car station to the Merlion and the beach.

Prices for the Sentosa Line cable car: 15 SGD adult ticket and 10 SGD child ticket.

The cost of a combined ticket for two cable cars Mount Faber Line and Sentosa Line: SGD 35 adult ticket and SGD 25 child ticket.

Map of Sentosa cable cars

Despite the fact that there are magnificent views from the cable car in Singapore, we decided to skip this attraction, we have already rode the cable car more than once in, and in, and on, and on 🙂 and I still hoped to have time in Singapore visit, the views from which are much cooler 🙂

2. Monorail Sentosa Express to Sentosa and around the island

Sentosa can be reached by monorail - Sentosa Express. The Sentosa Express monorail station on the mainland is located at VivoCity Mall, Lobby L, Level 3 (easy to find with signs).

There are 3 monorail stations on Sentosa Island:

  • Waterfront Station (if your goal is Universal Studios Singapore, get off here)
  • Imbiah Station (near the Merlion statue)
  • Beach Station (near the beach)

There used to be a monorail around the island, now it's gone.

Opening hours: from 7:00 to 10:00 on weekdays and until 24:00 from Friday to Sunday.

3. Walk to Sentosa

You can get to Sentosa on foot. But don't worry, it won't take long to walk 🙂 When I read that you can walk across the bridge to Sentosa, I imagined long-long bridge from the mainland to the island, and when I told Lesha that we would go to Sentosa on foot, he was horrified 🙂 In fact, the island is very close and it takes 10-15 minutes to walk!

You need to get to the Harbor Front MRT station, and then follow the signs for Sentosa Board Walk through the VivoCity shopping center.

There are moving escalators on the bridge so the whole journey is easy.

4. By car or taxi

You can get to Sentosa by car or taxi across the road bridge. To enter the island, you will have to pay from 2 SGD per car + pay for parking.

How to get to Sentosa is up to you. We decided to go to the island on foot (not because of saving money, it was just interesting to walk along the bridge and take pictures of the views), and when we returned in the evening we were already so tired that we decided to take the monorail. Although the night illumination of the city and the island from the bridge looks tempting 🙂

Morning leisurely walk across the bridge from the subway to Sentosa. Almost arrived 🙂

By the way, at seven o'clock in the evening there are huge queues for the cable car and monorail! We were in no hurry, watched the Crane Show at 20:00, then had a delicious dimsum dinner in a restaurant and left Sentosa without any crowds on the monorail at half past ten in the evening.
