How to choose a car number on a train. Which places in the reserved seat are better to take

Traveling in a reserved seat train is one of the most common types of transportation among Russians. Note that the reserved seat train is a feature of Russian railways. And unlike the same compartments, reserved seats are good and not very good. Experienced travelers know a lot about reserved seat trains and choose seats based on personal experience. However, for those who don't know what are the best places in reserved seat car this article was written.

Plan of a reserved seat car - a diagram of seats in a reserved seat car

The best places according to this scheme are places 1, 2, 3, 4 (marked in light green). They are the best for the following reasons:

Seats 53 and 54 are almost always unavailable for sale - apparently, this is some kind of reserve. At least not them most often there is a warehouse of blankets. This means that those who travel in the first section do not have side neighbors - almost a coupe. In addition, the conductor's compartment is located very close, which not only speaks of convenience, but also that the nearby toilet will be clean or at least odorless. In addition, there is a hot water boiler nearby, which is especially useful when preparing tea and food, as there is less risk of spilling something. There is also a window next to the boiler where you can look and stretch your legs. In the end, you can leave the first section earlier and carry things closest. In general, places 1, 2, 3 and 4 are best places in a carriage. That is why they are quite often busy, because they are bought primarily by experienced travelers on second-class trains.

The second place is occupied by places: from 5 to 32 inclusive. These are all non-side seats, except for the first and last sections. These are just good seating areas. They are marked in yellow on the diagram.

The third place is shared by non-side toilet seats (33, 34, 35, 36) and non-toilet side seats (from 39 to 52 inclusive). It’s a matter of choice, because the “sidewalls” have their drawbacks, and the places in the last section have their own.

What's wrong with lateral places:

  • The place of sleep and the place of food are the same place, since the lower berth is transformed into a table. This is inconvenient, especially if strangers ride on the upper and lower shelves.
  • Passers-by constantly touch the “sides” of the passenger, which does not allow you to sleep comfortably. If there are children on the train, they also often touch, not allowing you to relax.
  • In the case of passengers not resting on the sides, the legs will necessarily be close to the face of the person who is located on the side, which may not allow you to fall asleep or just rest.
  • The limited length of the bed does not allow people with large growth to stretch out and sleep peacefully

Non-side toilet seats (33, 34, 35, 36) also have their drawbacks, which are primarily associated with the presence of a toilet:

  • the door to the toilet constantly opens - closes, this does not allow not only to relax, but often just fall asleep
  • the smell that comes from the toilet does not allow you to eat

Which option is worse is everyone's personal choice.

Definitely the worst option is the side seats near the toilet (seats 37 and 38). They combine the disadvantages of both "sides" and places near the toilet. These places are bought last.

Separately, it is worth talking about the upper and lower places. There is no unequivocal opinion here. Let's list the pros and cons of the top and bottom places.

  • The high places allow you to relax and sleep without being distracted by neighbors' lunch breaks. Those who ride in the lower seats must give way to those who want to eat from the upper shelves.
  • Under the lower seats, you can store luggage without fear for its safety. Not everyone can reach the third shelf, and heavy things are really hard to put there. However, it happens that the things of both passengers are placed in the lower shelf.
  • It is safer for children to sleep in the lower places, as they will not fall from there. On the upper places in the cars there are special fences that prevent falling.
  • Climbing to the top shelf can be quite difficult, especially for older people and women. But children prefer to sleep on top.

Most of all, the top places are preferred by men who want to sleep or just relax, since it is not difficult for men to climb onto the top shelf, and the neighbors do not bother when they want to eat.

Of course, any journey always begins with the road. Unfortunately, we cannot choose neighbors, but it is quite possible to choose a place. In this article, we will show you how to choose comfortable place on the train.

Choosing a seat in the car

When choosing a seat on the train, pay attention to the following recommendations:

  1. It is not recommended to choose 9 compartments (near the toilet), as well as 1 compartment, near the conductor and the second toilet. Almost always, tickets for these seats are sold with great difficulty, since they are considered not convenient. “And what seats are recommended to buy?” - you ask. So, more comfortable places are the bottom places. The bottom shelves are always odd numbered. Such shelves will be much more convenient and safer than the upper shelves.
  2. If you choose a seat in a compartment car, we do not recommend buying seats in the third and sixth compartments. The fact is that such compartments are equipped emergency exits and windows cannot be opened. It is unlikely that you will be comfortable in a compartment with closed windows, especially when it comes to a trip in the summer. Please note that, just like in compartment cars, the seats that are near the toilet are not comfortable. Of course, the trip will be comfortable if you buy a ticket to the lower shelf or to the shelf in the compartment car. Also good option there will be side seats. However, side seats are often bought when there are no tickets for the lower shelves.
  3. The last upper shelf in a reserved seat car has significant differences from other upper shelves in that it has a partition. If you are tall, then you will be very uncomfortable on such a shelf. Also, such a place does not have a step with which you can climb onto the shelf. Seats 1, 2, 35 and 36 are slightly shorter than the others, which is unlikely to appeal to tall people. The most common dimensions of the lower shelf in the car are 177 cm, and the upper one is 167 cm. Width is 60 cm.
  4. Many people ask the question: "How to buy a place near the outlet?". However, it is unlikely to work. In a compartment, they are located between the 3rd and 4th compartments, as well as between the 7th and 8th.
  5. In the reserved seat, sockets can be found near seats 5,7,8,9,29,30,31,32,41,42,59,60, as well as in the very tail of the car near the toilet. However, we do not recommend buying places at the very tail of the car, because in addition to the toilet there is also a garbage bag. However, get ready for the fact that in your place everyone will rush and constantly ask to charge the phone.

As you can see, it will be very easy to find a good seat in the car. Follow the above recommendations, and your train trip will be as comfortable as possible.

Having bought a train ticket, it is always interesting - what place did you get?

Shelves upper and lower, side and not side ... Preferences are different for everyone, in general, you can select places in the reserved seat better and worse.

There are only 54 seats in the reserved seat car. Unpaired numbers are the lower shelves. Paired - upper. Seats 1-36 are regular. 37-54 - side.

On non-lateral places, as for me, it is more pleasant to ride than on the sides. No one walks back and forth next to you. However, if you go far, then I still prefer a side seat - you can sit at a table, looking out the window or reading a book, or you can fold the table and lie down for a nap. What can not be said about the upper sidewall - it is perhaps the most uncomfortable. People of high stature will have a bad time on the sidewall - the “height” of the shelf is about 1.80 m.

The good thing about the top seats is that no one bothers you - no one is running up and down, sitting on your shelf, etc. etc. You can hide in a corner and sleep until you stop. Personally, I prefer this option. However, the top shelf is definitely not suitable for the elderly. It is also inconvenient if you want not to lie down, but to sit - then you will have to "strain" the neighbors from below.

The lower seats are convenient because you don't need to climb up, there is a table, and the entire "trunk" under the shelf is at your disposal. (Of course, you can put your bags there even if you have a top seat, but I don’t think a fellow traveler will like it if you wake him up to pick up your luggage.) On the bottom shelf, you will get bored with neighbors climbing from above, and possibly perched on a drink seagull on your shelf.

I would classify places near the toilet as "bad" places (seats 33-38). Place 36 has an additional wall (so that the legs do not interfere with opening the door :)). There can be unpleasant smells from behind the door, as well as passengers walking back and forth and slamming the door (which is often the most annoying thing).

I think places 01-04 and 53-54 are not very good. There are also passengers going back and forth, constant conversations from the conductor's compartment and the possible snoring of the door (mostly only in winter) are heard. Place 53 is sometimes service.

In the third and sixth compartments (seats 9-12, 21-24) there are emergency exit windows and hammers to break them. Rarely, but it can also be a plus.

Based on all this, I think what is best is the seats in the middle of the car. And side or not, upper or lower - already depends on the preferences and conditions of the trip of each. Also, as practice shows, the comfort of the trip is quite dependent on fellow travelers - the trip itself uncomfortable place may turn out to be much more pleasant than good location but with annoying neighbors.

Every journey starts on the road. And if fellow travelers (unfortunately) are not chosen, then choosing a comfortable place is quite realistic. Children and people who rarely travel, due to "novelty", may not care at all whether to ride in a reserved seat or a compartment, on the lower side or on the upper one by the toilet. For example, I'd rather postpone the trip than go on the top shelf, especially in the reserved seat. Together with uticket.ua, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the nuances, thanks to which you can grab a better place for yourself.

  • "Bad" places are considered 9 compartments (close to the toilet), as well as 1 compartment, next to the conductor and the second toilet. That is places 1-4 and 33-36. Such places are usually redeemed last.
  • Also considered more comfortable lower shelves, they are numbered oddly. Top shelves are even numbered.
  • It is also worth paying attention to compartments No. 3 and 6, in such compartments windows don't open. They are considered equipped with emergency exits.
  • The standard length of the lower shelf in a compartment car is 184 cm, and the upper one is 183 cm. Width is 60 cm.

  • As well as in compartment cars, places close to the toilet are considered the least comfortable. These are places 1-4 and "sideways" 53-54 and 33-36 and 37-38.
  • Naturally, considered more comfortable lower shelves, and shelves in the "compartment". Less demanded side seats
  • Compartments No. 3 and 6 are also equipped with emergency exits, and the windows in their compartment do not open, as well as in compartment cars.
  • The last top seat in a reserved seat car (the next 37th is already a side seat) is 36. It differs from the rest of the top seats in that it is equipped with a partition. For tall passengers, this can be an inconvenience. Also, this place does not have a footrest that you can lean on to climb the shelf.
  • Seats 1, 2, 35 and 36 are somewhat shorter than the others, which should also be taken into account for people with growth above average. The standard length of the lower shelf in a reserved seat car is 177 cm, and the upper one is 167 cm. Width is 60 cm.

Most Beautiful places in Ukraine:

Modern transport systems provide many opportunities to quickly and comfortably overcome tens of kilometers of ground space. By plane, you can fly from one end of the country to the other in a matter of hours, or you can travel the same distance in a comfortable bus along convenient modern roads.

One of the most enjoyable ways to travel is by rail. Anyone who has ever visited a compartment car is familiar with the sound of wheels, tea in a glass with a glass holder and unhurried conversations with fellow travelers. However, few people are familiar with its history and some interesting features. Moreover, not everyone can even find their own seats in a compartment car without the help of a conductor.

well-known model

To all of us from childhood, the familiar all-metal compartment car began to be produced at the Ammendorf plant in the GDR specifically for the needs of the USSR. Its manufacture and supply began in the 60s and continued until the mid-80s. This production of wagons was the most massive in history. railway. In total, more than 30 thousand of them were produced.

V this moment this type vehicle is actively written off in all CIS countries. This is also the case for Russian Railways. The compartment car produced in Ammendorf, although familiar to our fellow citizens, does not meet modern requirements for the transportation of passengers.

Scheme of a compartment car

The ticket is in hand, but where to go with it - is it really a familiar situation? To avoid such questions, it is worth familiarizing yourself in detail with the layout of the compartment car.

Let's start by deciphering the concept of "coupe". It is a type of second class sleeping passenger car. In terms of convenience, it is much better than a reserved seat, but less comfortable than a suite or SV. Depending on the type, compartment cars are divided into 9 or 10 hotel compartments. Each of them is closed by a sliding door and is designed to accommodate four people. It has a folding table, hanger, luggage racks and drawers. There is a mirror on the door. The compartment car of the modern model is usually equipped with air conditioning.

All compartment cars are necessarily equipped with titanium for heating hot water, a compartment for the conductor's rest, a working area for the conductors, two bathrooms and vestibules.

In total, there are 36 or 40 seats in compartment cars. Moreover, they are numbered according to the following principle: all odd places are lower, and all even ones are upper. Seat numbering starts from the conductor's compartment.

Comfort compartment car

The price for carriages in SV and deluxe carriages is at least twice as high as the cost of an ordinary compartment carriage. Why such a difference?

The scheme of the increased comfort car is not much different from the second class we have already studied. But only one or two passengers are accommodated in the NE. All shelves in the car are lower. At the same time, the number of compartments remains the same, that is, there are at least half as many passengers, respectively, there is less noise, fuss and unforeseen situations caused by the human factor.

For the convenience of passengers, each compartment of the first-class carriage is additionally equipped with a wardrobe and a TV. Shelves are softer, always with backs for sitting.

Since there are no upper shelves in this type of carriage, additional luggage compartments are located in their place.

The interior of the car itself is also somewhat different from its second-class counterparts. It contains, albeit minor, but on the whole ennobling details of the minimalist design. And finishing materials are mostly of higher quality.

The best seat in the car

It seems that all the seats of the compartment car are the same. However, among them you can find the best and worst. For example, few people like place number 36, since this is the topmost shelf by the toilet. Its main drawback is the constant noise in the corridor, fuss behind the wall and an unpleasant smell.

Also, experienced travelers do not recommend purchasing seats in compartments closest to the conductor. Luggage compartments in them can be occupied by blankets, parcels with gear and other things. If you are not lucky and such a situation happens, it will be completely pointless to argue and swear - there is not enough space on the train, but all this stuff still needs to be stored somewhere.

According to the majority, the best seats in a compartment car are 9, 11, 13 and 15. Titanium, conductor, toilet and important for smokers) are nearby. And at the same time, they are far enough away not to smell from the toilet and smoke from cigarettes.

Safety or fresh air

Before you start choosing tickets, you need to know about another catch of sleeping passenger cars. In compartments 3 and 6, the windows do not open. And not only in the compartment car. In SV and reserved seat the situation is similar.

It is not possible to open the windows due to the special design of the frames, since it is through these compartments that passengers are supposed to be evacuated in the event of an accident. It is believed that a half-covered window can become a serious obstacle in the way.

So if you like fresh air, these places are not for you.
