Airbus a330 200 seat arrangement. Airbus A330 Nordwind Airlines

The best space for accommodation on board is traditionally located in the business class. Only the first and last rows are considered uncomfortable here - in the immediate vicinity of them are the kitchen, toilets and "economy". From sleep and rest on the road will be distracted by smells, noise and constant movement.

The rest are laid out almost 180 ° and allow you to fly in a supine position. And the increased space for one person will make it possible to stretch your legs and at the same time not interfere with your neighbor.

But if there is no desire to overpay for comfort, you can try to take comfortable chairs in the EC. In the Aeroflot diagram above, these include 2 locations.

  1. The entire 11th row goes immediately behind the BC partition and therefore boasts increased legroom. The aisle between the seats here is also a little wider - there are only 7 seats in the line instead of 8. But for the sake of these advantages, you will have to put up with some disadvantages, such as equipped mounts for baby cradles. If you're not lucky, you'll fly next door to a restless baby. The multimedia system here is built into the armrests, it is less convenient to work with it, and large monitors hang in front of your eyes. In the sky, they do not turn off - it will be difficult for a person sensitive to light to sleep.
  2. 23 p. behind the partition of the second salon. There is a lot of space, but the problem with monitors remains. Plus, there are toilets right in front of you, people will constantly move past.

The rest are nothing remarkable. Only 22 and 33-36 rows should be avoided. Behind the first is a partition and emergency exits, you can’t recline the back. The latter are installed where the fuselage begins to narrow, and the already small legroom under the seat is occupied by boxes of equipment.

Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. You need to decide what you are ready to endure, and what it will be difficult to put up with on the road. ”

In order not to sit in a very limited space throughout the flight, you should take care of the choice in advance. Use these 6 tips - and a comfortable road awaits you not only in BC.

  1. If you can't find a board diagram, ask at the front desk for the best seating. Just be sure to specify what exactly you want - stretch your legs, be closer to the toilet or look out the window. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages, and you need to decide what you are ready to tolerate, and what will be difficult to put up with.
  2. Please register early or register online. If an airline lets passengers choose their own seat, the most comfortable ones will go first.
  3. Do you visit the toilet often? Refuse the position at the porthole. Watching what is happening overboard is fascinating, but in order to leave the familiar, you will have to disturb your neighbor every time. Sitting by the airplane window is beneficial when you plan to sleep most of the distance.
  4. Do you want to relax? Bypass 11, 23 p. and others close to the toilets and the galley. Light, noise and constant bustle await you here.
  5. If you are flying long distances, avoid rows in front of emergency exits, bulkheads and in the tail. Reclining the back fully will not work, there is a risk of earning pain in the neck and back.
  6. It makes sense for people with tall stature or problems with lower limbs to sit in lines C, D, G, H. There is a passage between the pairs. If the legs become numb, it will be possible to stretch briefly in the free space.

Airbus A330-200, although considered the shortest in the family, the flight as a whole promises a comfortable one. On regular flights, a person of average build will fit almost any seat, with the exception of completely uncomfortable, with a fixed back. The only time to worry is if you are heading to your destination on a single class charter. Nine seats in a row leave practically no chance for a comfortable road - you have to hurry to sit at the partitions or in the tail.

The Airbus A330-200 is capable of taking on board up to 380 passengers and transporting them over a distance of up to 14,390 km.

A shortened modification of the A330-200 was developed somewhat later than the model and became a worthy response to dominance. The fuselage length of the A330-200 is 4.8 meters shorter than the length of the A330-300. Accordingly, the maximum number of seats was reduced to 380. But at the same time, the flight range was increased by 2,600 km, due to the installation of an additional fuel tank. The A330-200 program officially started in November 1995, and the commercial operation of the liner began in April 1998.

In the process of creating the Airbus A330-200, all the achievements and new technologies of Airbus were applied. For example, part of the fuselage structure was made of composite materials, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the aircraft. The avionics and cockpit were unified with the series and: the cockpit was equipped with a Fly-by-Wire digital flight control system, joysticks (sidestick) instead of steering wheels, and LCD displays.

Airbus is currently offering a new modification of the A330neo airliner (New Engine Option) with more powerful and economical engines, as well as an improved wing design.

Nordwind - Airbus A330-200 cabin layout

The Airbus A330 is a family of medium and long haul passenger aircraft. It is wide-body, equipped with two engines. November 1, 1992 made its first flight.

V this moment 1,398 units produced. The aircraft is equipped with engines manufactured by Rolls Royce (Britain), General Electric (USA) or Pratt & Whitney (USA). At the moment, the latest and technically improved model of the A330-300X aircraft is being produced (the flight range and the number of passengers have been increased).

Airbus began developing the project in 1972 to compete with Boeing. It was originally planned to produce the 200 and 300 series with four turbofan engines, but this idea was subsequently abandoned in favor of two. Aircraft production began in June 1987. The body of the Airbus A300 was taken as a basis, it was lengthened and connected to the converted cabin of the A320 aircraft, which at that time was the latest in the production line.

Sometimes, for short, the aircraft is simply referred to as the Airbus 332.

Airbus A330 modifications

  • A330-100. Earliest trial model. Designed to replace the A300 and A310 models. Planned as a competitor to the Boeing 767-300ER and 767-400ER. But due to the low number of orders, the model was considered unsuccessful.
  • A330-200. The aircraft model has 253 passenger seats and in the version with three classes. A test flight took place in August 1997. This aircraft model was able to adequately compete with the Boeing 767. Most major airlines world prefer this modification.
  • A330neo. Neo stands for New Engine Option. This is a new technology developed by the Airbus consortium for the greatest savings. For this, the latest engines were developed and put into operation.
  • A330-800neo. The modification was created to replace the Airbus A330 200. Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines will be installed. It is also planned to expand the cabin by 8 passenger seats and install branded wingtips as on the new A350. The flight range will be 13,900 kilometers with the number of passengers 257 - 406, depending on the modification of the cabin. The start of use is planned for 2018.
  • A330-900neo. This modification was created to replace the A330-300. The changes will affect the interior, it is 10 more spacious seats, will receive winglets on the wings and updated engines from the Rolls-Royce - Trent 7000, this will reduce fuel consumption by 15%. The total capacity will be 287-440 passenger seats with a flight range of 12,100 km.

Airbus a330 200 scheme

At the beginning of the cabin there is a business class, in which there are 24 passenger seats. Chairs for him designed by Weber Aircraft. The chairs are comfortable and comfortable, quite spacious.

Aircraft A 330 200, interior layout

Economy class with 255 seats is located behind the business class partition. The seats are arranged in a 2-4-2 layout, which is convenient for passengers sitting near the windows and in the central aisle, since you only have to disturb one seatmate in order to get out. This scheme was first proposed by Airbus and is now used by all aircraft manufacturers of this class. The seats were designed by Zodiac Seats France. The seats are upholstered in blue fabric and have a multimedia system for in-flight entertainment. Almost every airline has an A 330 200, a plane whose layout is typical, so it's hard to make a mistake in choosing a seat.

Plane Airbus 330 200 North wind: the best seats.

The location of seats on the Airbus a330 200 is standard for this type aircraft, but there may be some changes depending on the airline and destination.

Aircraft A 330 200 of Nord Wind Airlines, photo and seating layout

  • Business class is located in rows one through six and these seats are the most comfortable. At the beginning of the cabin there is a kitchen, and the 5th row is located in front of the toilet, this can be uncomfortable for passengers. After the sixth row, a partition is installed, behind which the economy immediately begins and mounts for baby strollers are installed, so it can be noisy there. This must be taken into account when choosing a seat in business class.
  • Rows 11 to 24. Economy class starts here, the entertainment system is located in the armrests of the seats, which is inconvenient. The seats are spacious and fold out a bit.
  • Row 23. The most uncomfortable places. They are located next to the toilets, queues often accumulate. Unpleasant odors are possible, which causes discomfort to passengers.
  • Row 24. Seats numbered C, A, K, N. The disadvantages are the proximity of the toilets - and these are guaranteed queues, smells and sounds, which is annoying in flight. Plus these places - a large number of free space, so you can not disturb the neighbors to go out

Seats G, F, E and D have built-in pushchair mounts, as children are not always calm during the flight, this can be a disadvantage. Plus, there are large screens in front of these chairs, which display information about the flight. The screens work throughout the flight, which interferes with a comfortable sleep.

These places are better to choose for a short flight, since there is less chance of encountering disadvantages.

  • 33-35 rows. This is where the reduction in legroom begins as the body of the aircraft itself narrows. Rows 35 and 36 in the central aisle have only 3 seats, which is convenient - less need to disturb the neighbors. And row 37 consists of only 3 seats. The seats are comfortable and comfortable, the backs fold out, and there is plenty of legroom. The disadvantage is the proximity to the toilets.

For all rows and seats in the cabin, the following points exist:

  • For viewing landscapes or taking beautiful pictures, it is better to choose places near the windows, but you must take into account the weather and flight time, since this cannot be called a plus at night. You can also choose a seat by the window for those who are going to sleep the whole flight. It must be borne in mind that in these places it will be necessary to constantly disturb the neighbors in order to get out.
  • Aisle seats are good for easy access, there is no need to disturb the neighbors, but can be disturbed by neighbors who need to get up, as well as flight attendants delivering food.
  • The most inconvenient seats are in the middle, since the entire flight will have to be surrounded by neighbors, which causes discomfort.

The Airbus a330 200, whose cabin layout is usually standard, is a very common aircraft among air carriers. It is recommended to clarify the layout of the airline's cabin on the official website, which will allow you not to make a mistake in choosing a seat.

The Airbus A330-200 is the "smallest" aircraft of the A330 family. This liner has several configurations, let's look at some of them. The Airbus A330-200 with a two-class cabin can accommodate up to 300 passengers, and a three-class configuration (first class / economy class / business class) is designed for 253 seats.

Let's get acquainted with the scheme of the airliner Airbus A330-200 of the Aeroflot company. We suggest you figure out which places are good and which are not. (Image taken from Aeroflot official website)

Let's take a closer look at the liner scheme.

Seats in 1 - 6 rows. Business class seats. The aircraft of this model has very comfortable seats that recline 180 degrees. But, despite this, there are still some remarks to the places of this class.

1 - 4 row. There may be inconvenience due to the proximity of the kitchen.

5 row. There is a restroom in front of the seats in this row, which makes these places uncomfortable for someone.

6 row. Discomfort on the seats in this row may occur due to the close placement of the economy class and the mounts for the cradles, which are located on the 11th row. Therefore, most often these seats are chosen by passengers with babies, which can bring additional inconvenience during the flight.

11 - 24 rows. Standard economy class seats. But, since there is a partition in front of these chairs and monitors are placed in the armrests, they lose in comfort. In addition, due to the built-in large monitors that work even during night flights, some people in these seats will not be able to sleep.

23 row. Standard reclining economy seats. Only the close proximity to the restrooms makes them not very convenient. Constant "queues", the movement of passengers and a possible unpleasant smell will cause discomfort and inconvenience.

Seats in the 24th row (A, C, H, K). The undoubted advantage of these seats can be attributed to the proximity emergency exit, which provides extra bed for legs, you can get up from them without disturbing the neighbors, just like they do you. The disadvantages include the close location of the bathrooms, which entails a number of inconveniences: constant movement of passengers, toilet doors that constantly open and close, unpleasant sounds and smells. All this can interfere with your smooth flight.

Besides, in 24th row (D, E, F and G) in front of the chairs there are attachments for cradles. Most likely, the seats next to you will be occupied by passengers with children, who are usually restless during the flight.

Also be aware of the large monitors placed in front of these seats, which are not turned off during the entire flight and can create additional discomfort.

Seats 33 to 35 row and seats C. When buying tickets, consider the narrowing of the fuselage, which starts from the 33rd row. Although the curvature is almost imperceptible, it still causes some inconvenience. In addition, some aircraft configurations include huge metal boxes with the necessary equipment, which are located under the front seats, which greatly reduces the available space.

Seats in row 34 (D and G) differ from other places of this class in that the chairs are slightly “pushed out” into the aisle. It happens that these places are touched by flight attendants with carts with drinks and food.

Locations in 35 row (D, F and G)- standard seats of this class, but on some liners, the distance between the 34th and 35th rows is less than the standard.

36-37 row. These places are also ordinary places of this class, only the extreme places of these rows can be compared with seats in the 23rd row - close proximity to the restrooms, opening / closing doors and extraneous odors. Therefore, these places are not the best choice for the passenger.

In conclusion, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with a short list of recommendations for choosing the best seats on the Airbus A330-200 Aeroflot aircraft.

  • Before booking, pay attention to the layout of the aircraft you intend to fly. To do this, you can use the official website of the airline;

  • If you have any questions or doubts related to the choice of a seat, seek advice from an airline representative;

  • Try not to get seats in the rows in front of which there is a partition or seats in which the backs of the seats do not recline;

  • Don't forget the tips and tricks listed above;
  • When choosing a place, pay attention to the location of bathrooms, technical rooms and kitchens. Places in the tail of the cabin are purchased only if there are no other options.
Are you here:

From the first to the sixth row in the plane are located business class seats .

If we analyze these series, we can distinguish the following advantages:

  • These are very comfortable chairs that recline almost to a horizontal position.
  • There is a lot of space for the legs, the rows are not very close to each other and even tall man With long legs can comfortably sit on these rows.

But not all places are equally convenient. There are some negative points in some rows:

  • The first row is located as close as possible to the kitchen, toilet and wardrobe, this can cause not always pleasant smells and some anxiety if passengers walk
  • The last sixth row is close to the economy class and for this reason noise from the economy class cabin flies here.

Standard Economy Class Seats

From the eleventh to the twenty-ninth row there are standard economy class seats. If you are flying with a small child, you must book seats that are suitable for attaching children's carriages. Such devices are in the eleventh and twenty-ninth rows.

The eleventh row begins Economy class, is its first row. For this reason, there are a number of advantages when buying tickets in this row:

  • you are deprived of the neighborhood in front, and no one will recline the chair without taking into account your interests;
  • enough space to stretch your legs;
  • there will be a minimum of movement around you.

Do not buy seats in the fifteenth row, if during the flight you prefer to contemplate the sky, there are no windows here.

The remaining places up to the twenty-ninth row are completely identical and do not have any pronounced pluses or minuses. As for the twenty-ninth row, there are different opinions regarding the flight in the seats of this row.

The advantages of landing in this row are the following points:

  • wide space in front, which allows you not to sit with bent legs, but to sit comfortably;
  • you can leave your place or return to it without disturbing your neighbors, the passage is so wide here.

The disadvantages of sitting here on long flights include the following points:

  • large information boards that are lit day and night can interfere with rest or tire your eyes;
  • nearby toilets will not allow you to take a nap from the endless walking of passengers and slamming doors;
  • unpleasant odors become flight companions.

Given that the flight lasts several hours, this is a very unpleasant moment that poisons the journey.

The most uncomfortable places to fly on an Airbus A330-300

The most uncomfortable places can be called places with such features:

  • fixed seats that cannot be reclined;
  • places in front of the walls, since in this case there is not enough space for a comfortable position of the legs;
  • places near the toilet.

In the Airbus A330-300 aircraft, the most uncomfortable places you can name the chairs in the twenty-seventh, twenty-eighth, forty-fourth and forty-fifth rows. Some of the seats are installed permanently and it is impossible to change the position of the seat, some seats are located close to the toilets.

It is undesirable to book such places if you want to fly in comfort and in a relaxed atmosphere.

Features of the location of the seats

We talked about the comfort of each row, discussed the positive and negative sides. Now consider the arrangement in a row. The location may be:

  • near the porthole;
  • near the aisle;
  • near the emergency exit;
  • in the middle of the row.

Everyone prefers this or that arrangement of a chair. If you prefer to watch the clouds float by and do not have the habit of changing your position often, choose a seat near the window. If you often go to the toilet or are shy by nature and it is difficult for you to disturb your neighbor, sit near the aisle and you can move around without disturbing anyone. Seats near the emergency passage are preferred for large and tall passengers who find it very uncomfortable to sit in regular seats.

Choosing a place is a very important step, as the mood, well-being and the trip itself depend on it. Do not be lazy to book a place in advance, if possible. Choose a location based on these tips and personal preferences.

Happy and easy flights!

The best and worst places

The cabin of the Airbus 330-300 can have one economy class. At the same time, he can take on board 440 people. With a two-class cabin, the number of passengers is 335 people. The cabin, which has three classes, is designed for 295 passengers.

Passengers during the flight can take advantage of various little things that provide comfort. The salon has Internet access. You can watch TV programs (monitors are in the backs of the seats). Ventilation and lighting in the cabin meet the highest requirements.

The traditional configuration is the salon, divided into two parts. At the same time, greater comfort is provided in the nose, standard conditions are provided behind it, up to the wall at the tail section.

Seats with an increased level of comfort are located in the first six rows. The seats here have adjustments to provide comfort to passengers of various sizes. If the flight takes a long time, then the chair easily turns into a bed. Its backrest can recline 180 degrees.

Salon Airbus A330-300

However, there are seats in business class that are less comfortable. This is noted in the first, fifth and sixth rows. The reason is this. The first row is located in close proximity to the kitchen and toilet. Passengers and flight attendants often pass here. The fifth and sixth rows are somewhat noisy, as the economy class is nearby. However, such an inconvenience can be considered far-fetched.

Economy class is represented by a significant number of seats that do not stand out either for the better or for the worse. But there are chairs in which there is more comfort, and there are those where they are less.

For passengers with small children, seats in rows 11 and 29 are best suited. There are places for wheelchairs. You can install a cradle. If the passenger went on the road with a teenage child, the 15th row is the least suitable for him. There are no portholes here. And for a teenager, this is a very serious minus.

In economy class, row 11 is the first. It has about the same pros and cons as the 29th row, from which the rows begin in the second compartment of this class. The convenience in these rows is that there is enough room in front to place your legs. In addition, since there are no seats in front, no one will recline their back and cause inconvenience.

On the wall in front of the chairs are large monitors. They broadcast up-to-date information about the flight. However, constantly running monitors can get in the way. After all, sometimes you just don’t want to watch what is there and how, but there is a desire to sleep.

The downside here is that passengers with small children usually fly here, who simply cannot stay in cradles all the time. Their cry disturbs many. Another minus is not rising armrests. The reason is that tables are built into them. The disadvantage is also close proximity to the toilet. In addition to the noise, queues of passengers in the aisle also interfere.

They do not differ in the comfort of the chair in the 41st, 42nd, 43rd rows. Here begins the narrowing of the cabin. Paired side chairs are set at some angle. In the middle of the 41st row, four chairs protrude slightly into the aisle. Passengers and flight attendants passing here sometimes interfere with those sitting. As for the 42nd row, there are only three seats in its middle part.

The category characterized by the lack of comfort includes the rows: 27th, 28th, 44th, 45th. They are the last in the economy class compartments. There are toilets nearby. At the same time, the 45th row is located near both the toilet and the kitchen.

Those sitting here are constantly distracted by passengers standing in lines for the toilets. Somewhat disturbing smells. Yes, and stewardesses appear here more often than in other places.

But that's not all. There are walls behind the backs of the chairs. For this reason, the backs do not recline. In addition, boxes are installed under the seats in front, which do not allow you to stretch your legs.

Specifications Airbus A330-300

A replacement for its Airbus A330 parent, the A330-300 received some fuselage stretching, which ended up being 63.7 meters. The wingspan of this aircraft is 60.3 meters. The Airbus A330-300 can carry up to 440 passengers (if there are only one class of seats in the cabin) for a distance of up to 10,000 kilometers. In addition, the liner has a capacious cargo compartment, which makes it possible to use it as an aircraft carrying cargo. The cruising speed of the Airbus A330-300 is 880 km/h.

The Airbus A330-300 looks more profitable compared to its competitors, liners and 787s, at least in terms of demand. Sales of the Airbus model are at a higher level - about a hundred A330-300s are ordered annually by airlines around the world.

Fuselage end

Starting from the thirty-third row, the fuselage of the aircraft narrows, which may cause you slight inconvenience. The layout of the A330-200 "tells" us that the seats D and G of the thirty-fourth row are slightly extended into the aisle, so food carts will sometimes touch them. The extreme seats in the thirty-sixth and thirty-seventh rows have the same problems as with the twenty-third row (related to the toilet).

We hope that our advice will help you to study the Airbus A330-200 aircraft and its layout. Aeroflot cabin, to choose the most best places in him. We do not advise you to take seats closer to the tail of the aircraft, toilets, kitchen or other areas with limited access.

Advantages and disadvantages

At seats A, C, H and K in the twenty-fourth row there are both advantages and disadvantages. Of the pluses, it is worth noting that emergency hatches were located next to them, as well as plenty of legroom. The downsides are the very close distance from the toilets. Because of this, you can expect a large number of people to pass by, as well as hear the sound of a door constantly closing or a toilet barrel descending. Do not forget about the unpleasant smell emanating from there.

Opposite seats D, E, F, G there are mounts for baby cradles, so you should expect passengers with babies nearby. Given this, you should not expect a smooth flight if you take seats nearby. Among other things, there will be monitors in front of you that will not turn off at night, which can interfere with your restful sleep. Take these seats if you are not embarrassed by the cons and you really need legroom, which can be very important during long-haul flights.

On August 24, 2001, an Air Transat A330-200, due to a fuel leak, completed the longest glide of any jet aircraft. This emergency situation arose as a result of wear of one of the fuel lines, which led to a fuel leak, and incorrect actions of the crew during the flight. In addition, the specific system for determining fuel consumption on the A330 contributed to the emergence of a dangerous situation - fuel consumption was determined by oil consumption. The pilots mistook the leak report for a computer glitch, failed to properly assess the situation and began pumping fuel into the faulty fuel tank, resulting in a complete loss of fuel and shutdown of both engines. Ground services, to which the pilots turned for advice, also could not figure out the malfunction. The non-motorized flight lasted eighteen minutes, during which 120 km were covered, up to emergency landing at Lajes Air Base (Azores, Portugal). As a result of the incident, passengers and the liner were not injured.

The passenger compartment of the Airbus A-330

In the classic version of the liner, two salons are presented. The first six rows are reserved for business class. There are 6 seats in each row - two on the right, two in the middle and two on the left. The distances between the seats are large enough, which allows passengers not to interfere with each other. The seats here are very comfortable, they can be folded back 180 degrees, so you can get a good sleep during the flight.

This is especially important during night and / or long flights. However, it is important to keep in mind that rows 5 and 6 are noisy, as they are adjacent to the common area

The rest of the rows are reserved for economy class. It is divided into two compartments. In each row of the first compartment there are 8 chairs - two on the right, four in the middle and two on the left. Places in the middle are slightly shifted back. Toilets are located between the compartments. In the second compartment, the seats are also located, only the seats in the middle are shifted forward, and on the last rows in the middle there are three chairs.

The best seats are in the rows located immediately behind the business class and behind the emergency hatches. You can sit comfortably in the places on the right and left. There are no neighbors in front, so no one will lean back on you. The presence of space allows you to stretch your legs and get up without disturbing anyone. Moreover, not far from these rows there is a kitchen, and passengers occupying seats here receive food first.

When choosing places, consider the following important nuances:

For travelers with small children, it is better to choose the 11th and 24th rows, where there is a place for the child's belongings.

If you like to look out the porthole, then do not take a seat in those rows where windows are not provided. Refine this information

The last row is especially noisy, and the seats are tightly pressed against each other due to the narrowing of the fuselage.

News from the world of Airbus

In the summer of 2017, Airbus introduced an updated version of the airliner - the A380plus. It has an updated wing design and an optimized passenger compartment space to allow even more passenger seats to be added.

In the current 2017 year, the well-known aircraft manufacturer Airbus received an order for 430 aircraft from the new neo series. The amount of orders is about $ 49.5 billion. This order is considered the largest and most expensive in the history of the airline concern.

Airbus A330 is a multifunctional series of airliners that allows not only to carry passengers and cargo, but also to pursue military goals. Thanks to high operational Airbus performance A330 is successfully produced and used to this day.

Some features of the aircraft

The A330-300 was designed to replace the A300 with a more modern aircraft. The fuselage of the latter was taken as the basis of the new model. It was lengthened. This allowed to increase the number of passengers, which significantly affects the cost savings on flights.

The new aircraft was able to carry more cargo. Its luggage compartment is comparable to that of a Boeing 747.

The aircraft is equipped with two General Electric CF6-80E, Pratt & Whitney PW4000 or Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines. These power plants are reliable. In combination with a well-designed body and wings of the aircraft, if one engine fails, the A330-300 is able to continue flying for three hours on one.

The comfort provided to passengers and a long flight range allow this airliner to successfully compete with the Boeing 777-200.

The presence of modern equipment, good computer support greatly facilitate the work of the crew. That is why it consists of only two pilots.

Story

In 1972, the consortium began designing the A300 B9 wide-body aircraft, which is an extended version of the A300 B2 with 322 seats. In 1973, the situation on the world market revealed the need for a larger aircraft, and the consortium worked on the A300 B11 project with four turbofans. In 1980, the project received, respectively, the designations TA9 TA - twin aisle - "wide-body"). In September 1982, the consortium announced that the new aircraft would have a common airframe design. In January 1986, the TA9 project was given the designation A330. Although the aircraft program officially began in June 1987.
The A330/A340 long haul aircraft program was launched to push Boeing out of its dominant market position. passenger aircraft long range. Initially planned versions of the 200 and 300 were almost identical: both models had the same wings, fuselages, controls, and only the number of engines differentiated the models. This solution allowed, on the one hand, to reduce the cost of developing the aircraft, and on the other hand, it simplified and reduced the costs for airlines in the operation and maintenance of aircraft. The body of the Airbus A300 was taken as the basis for the development, which was made longer. The cockpit (cockpit) was made similar to that of the A320. Thus, the resulting aircraft was a mixture of the technical innovations of the Airbus A320 series with a fuselage from the A300/A310.

The first presentation of the aircraft took place on October 14, 1992. Less than a month later, on November 2, 1992, the A330 in the 300 variant took to the air for the first time. The third prototype was made already with interior trim and painted in the colors of the first customer - Air Inter - and was used as a model for passing flight tests. The tests took place in August 1993 under the direction of ETOPS, during which the A330 flew for 6 hours with one engine over the North Atlantic. Test flights were completed in December 1994 after the successful completion of all tests.

The construction of a shortened version of the 200 was accepted in November 1995. And on August 13, 1997, this version made its first flight. The aircraft was delivered on April 29, 1998 to the customer - ILFC and its leasing partner - Canada 3000.

After further criticism, especially by ILFC and Singapore Airlines, July 17, 2006 at the Farnborough exhibition, Airbus announced that the development of this aircraft was being discontinued and instead it was presented in principle new project under the name A350 XWB. This type of aircraft should be a completely new design with a large body diameter and will not be based on the A330. The abbreviation XWB stands for eXtra-Wide Body - ultra-wide fuselage.

In various parts Airbus aircraft A330 finds application so-called principle of interchangeability. This means that the systems of different types of aircraft are the same, thus saving money.

  • The A330 is a close relative of the Airbus A340. The bearing surfaces of the four-engine A340, which was developed for long-range and ultra-long flights, are not reinforced in the area of \u200b\u200boutboard motors. Other characteristics, with the exception of minor details, are identical for both models.
  • The control electronics of the A330 are the same as the A340 and A320.
  • The control cabin is the same for the A320 and A330. The control cabin of the A380 and A350 is based on the A330 series. Thanks to this, pilot training for these models takes place according to similar programs.

A330 modifications

  • Airbus A330-100 - the first modification of the aircraft. It was supposed to be a replacement for the Airbus A300 and A310, but due to a number of design errors, it was unsuccessful.
  • Airbus A330-200 - a modification created to replace the Airbus A300-600. It was also planned that the liner would be able to seriously compete with the Boeing-767. Commercial use began in 1998.
  • Airbus A330-200F - cargo modification of the Airbus A330-200. The creation of the A330-200F was caused by a decrease in demand for a similar modification of the Airbus A300 - the A300-600F model. Operation began in 2010.
  • Airbus A300-200HGW - Airbus modification with increased takeoff weight. The aircraft was developed in 2009. The main customer of the model is Korean Air.
  • Airbus A330-300 is a modification created as a replacement for the A300 aircraft. It is the most common airliner from the A330 family. It has a passenger capacity of 295 (with a three-class layout) and up to 440 people (with a single-class layout). The Airbus A330-300 has a large cargo hold, allowing it to carry additional cargo.
  • Airbus A330 P2F is a modification of the aircraft, which is the result of a kind of “conversion” of the aircraft from a passenger model to a cargo one. The P2F index means "passenger-to-freight" - "passenger to cargo". The conversion program started in 2016.

In addition to civilian modifications, the A330 family also has two military models:

  • Airbus A330-200 MRTT is a modification of the Airbus used for military purposes as a multi-role tanker transport aircraft (MRTT - Multi-Role Tanker Transporter). It is characterized by installed additional fuel tanks that can hold up to 111 tons of aviation kerosene.
  • Airbus A330-200 FSTA (Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft - strategic tanker aircraft of the future) is another military modification of the Airbus A330, which is currently under development.

Overview of the salon and the best places

The most common cabin layout for the A330 is 28 seats in business class and 268 seats in economy class. The business class is located in front of the passenger cabin of the liner and occupies rows 1 to 5 according to the diagram. The seats of this class are distinguished by their convenience and more space between the seats than in the economy class. An additional advantage of business class seats is that on new aircraft (for example, the Airbus A330-300 model) they can easily be laid out 180 degrees, thereby turning into comfortable beds and allowing you to fully relax during the flight. It should be noted that on early production aircraft, the seats, as a rule, are laid out only at a certain angle, but this does not greatly affect the overall comfort of the business class cabin. Passengers of this class are also offered a more varied menu (compared to the economy class), as well as various (including alcoholic) drinks. The multimedia entertainment system can brighten up the flight time well.

By themselves, business class seats are the best on the plane, however, there are certain comments for them. So, places in rows 1 and 5 (according to the scheme) are less successful than the rest. This is primarily due to the fact that here the chairs are located right next to the utility rooms, which means that there is always a fuss in the form of a stream of passengers and attendants. It is this factor that can negatively affect the quality of rest during the flight. Therefore, people who cannot stand the fuss and want to have a good rest during the flight are not recommended to book these places.

Behind the business class seats is the economy class cabin, which has two wide aisles and a 2-4-2 seating arrangement. His places are occupied by rows with numbers from 11 to 45 (according to the scheme). The economy class seats on the Airbus A330 are certainly not as soft as those in business class and do not fold out 180 degrees into beds, but they are nevertheless quite comfortable and spacious. Also, seats of this class are equipped with monitors built into the backs of the front seats or armrests, audio / video entertainment systems. The menu here is also delicious, although not as varied as in business class. The distance between the economy class seats meets international standards and is quite enough for legs.

The best seats in economy class are the seats marked with the letters A, C, H and K, located, according to the scheme of the passenger compartment, in the 29th row. Their advantage lies mainly in the fact that there are no chairs in front of them, which means that the legroom here is significantly greater than for other places. Particularly successful in this respect are the places at the windows (that is, A and K) - they will be away from the flow of passengers and attendants, which means that you can relax here better and to the fullest. The only negative of these seats is that the monitors here are built into the armrests of the chairs. However, these places are the best choice.

The least comfortable seats in the economy class of the Airbus A330 are in rows numbered 27, 28, 43, 44 and 45 (according to the diagram). Their inconvenience and less comfort are due to the proximity of the toilet and utility rooms.

About Airbus

Airbus, which manufactures aircraft for civil, cargo and military aviation, has been the main and perhaps the only competitor of the famous Boeing for almost half a century. Symbolizing the competition between Europe and America, the Old and New Worlds, Airbus and Boeing produce comfortable passenger liners of various classes - from huge cars like the A380 and B747 to medium-capacity and long-range aircraft like the A320 and B737.

Last but not least, fierce rivalry and the presence of a strong competitor force both of these companies to constantly improve and offer airlines more and more new developments - more comfortable, safer and more economical.

Brief historical background

The main shareholder of the European concern Airbus S.A.S is the European aerospace concern EADS, which, in turn, is owned by:

  • the French government - 22.43%;
  • French concern Lagardere - 15.1%;
  • German concern Daimler AG - 22.52%;
  • Spanish state company SEPI - 5.46%;
  • Russian "Vnesheconombank" - 5.02%.

Officially, this concern is registered in the Netherlands (Amsterdam), has headquarters in Paris and Munich. Representative offices of this corporation operate in the following countries:

  • France;
  • Germany;
  • Spain;
  • Great Britain.

Work on the creation of a European passenger airliner with a wide fuselage and two engines was started in 1987, and in 1992 the Airbus 330-300 first flew, was certified in Europe and in the USA in 1993, having received the appropriate certificates. In the same year, sales of the airliner started, and the French airline Air Inter began to operate regular flights on Airbus aircraft from 1994.

Conclusion

The A330-300 airliner with a maximum takeoff weight of 242 tons is capable of flying from London to Tokyo, from Frankfurt to Cape Town, from Beijing to Melbourne ... It has few competitors on such long-haul flights.

Will the development of this aircraft continue? Yes, the A330-300 will be the basis for the A330neo. This model will have new power plants. In addition, cabins are provided in the cabin for a number of passengers. The glider will also change. It is supposed to increase the wingspan. There will also be changes aimed at improving aerodynamics. This will reduce fuel consumption, which, if converted into costs per passenger, can provide savings of up to 14 percent.
