A321-200, due to the refinement of its predecessor, acquired a greater flight range and takeoff weight. The completion of the "hundredth" model was carried out over two years: from 1994 to 1996. This was necessary to compete with Boeing. Thanks to its characteristics and reliability, this aircraft still looks worthy even among younger analogues.

Despite a fairly long period of time since the start of production of the A321, this model is still being finalized and modernized, adjusting its characteristics to the modern requirements of the aircraft industry. IN this moment the company is actively working on the commissioning of advanced powertrains for the A321. The modernization course is carried out under the name New Engine Option, in the future the liners are planned to be supplied with CFM International LEAP-X and Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines. An additional 16% of fuel saved can be considered their feature, however, the actual data is usually slightly less than the declared ones, since these values are often somewhat lower when upgrading an existing model. The use of improved engines, according to preliminary calculations, should increase the maximum possible length of the flight by 950 km, and the maximum lifted weight - by 2 tons.
Interesting to know! To increase the flight range and reduce operating costs, special modifications for the wings - sharkle - are installed on the A320 model range as part of the NEO program. Their prototype, winglets, was first used exclusively on Boeing aircraft, starting with the 1985 model 747-400. We only note that the new endings improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the wing, reducing fuel consumption and increasing the flight range.
Since 2015, it is planned to introduce new engine versions for the A320 Family. The use of new engines together with wingtips will reduce fuel consumption by up to 15 percent and increase the flight range by an additional 900 km or payload by 2 tons.
In a two-class configuration, the A321 aircraft can accommodate 185, and in a single-class cabin, up to 220 passengers. With the new A321neo, Airbus plans to increase passenger capacity through optimized use of the aircraft cabin. New changes in the layout will increase the number of passenger seats to 240, while still maintaining comfortable seats with a width of 18 inches.
A321, like A320, has 4 doors (two on each side of the fuselage, in the nose and tail sections) and 4 emergency hatches (two on each side of the fuselage, in the middle part). But unlike the A320, the A321's escape hatches are not located side by side, but spaced a long distance away.

The last row of the business class also has its own characteristics. Firstly, it is close to the noisier economy class, and secondly, there is a partition directly behind the last row of business class, and your seat may not recline completely.
Economy class
As you can see in the diagram, in the Aeroflot A321 cabin, toilets are located in three places: in the bow for business class, in the middle of the cabin and in the tail for economy class.
8th row. This is the first row of the economy class. The seats in this row are called superior seats and are among the best on the Airbus A321. They are located right after the escape hatches, due to which there is quite a lot of legroom in front of the 8th row seats. You will not interfere with a neighbor (or he you) when you want to get up. A slight disadvantage of these chairs is that the armrests are fixed, as folding tables are mounted in them. This feature is also found in other seats, which are located at a distance from the front row.
However, there are restrictions - in this row it is usually forbidden to sit passengers with children or pets, as well as passengers with handicapped and older passengers. Also, you can't put hand luggage at his feet, so as not to block the path to the emergency exit.
The two extreme places of the 8th row (A and F in the diagram) are also distinguished by the fact that due to the proximity to the emergency exit, it can be a little cold there, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe legs. However, you can always ask the flight attendants for a blanket.
9 - 17 rows. Seats in these rows are common. There are no special features. It works here general rule– the closer to the nose of the aircraft, the earlier food and drinks are served and the richer the assortment will be. 18th row. Close proximity to the toilet naturally has its drawbacks - queues for the restroom, possible smells, door sounds and water drains. In addition, behind the 18th row there is a wall of the toilet, which does not allow you to recline the back of the seats.
19th row. This is the first row of the second compartment of the economy class. As can be seen on the layout of Aeroflot's A321 cabin, these seats are located near the second pair of emergency hatches. There are only 4 seats in this row, there are no extreme places so as not to interfere with evacuation in case of an emergency. Of course, the advantage of this row is that there is a lot of legroom in front of the seats, but this advantage is easily leveled by proximity to the toilets. The same restrictions apply to the 19th row as to the 8th.
20th row. Locations A and F are very good. There is a lot of free space in front of you, you can safely get up from your seat, stretch your legs. These places are also places of increased comfort. The 4 remaining places of the 20th row are regular places.
21 - 30 rows. These are regular seats, the same as the seats in rows 9-17. There are no special features. The 30th row is close to the toilet, and seats C and D, which are directly at the aisle, are also inconvenient because a queue to the toilet may form next to you.
31st row. This is the last row, it has serious flaws. Not only the proximity to the toilet can spoil your mood, but also the fact that the backs in this row do not recline at all, since there is a wall immediately behind them.

The business class in the A321 S7 aircraft has only 2 rows, that is, 8 seats. There is a wall in front of the first row, and the seats in this row have the same characteristics as the seats in the first row of business class A321 of Aeroflot.
There is plenty of legroom in front of the second row. This business class row is preferable, however, you also need to consider that it is close to the noisy economy class.
Economy class.
3rd row. As you can see in the A321 S7 cabin map, this row is located directly behind the partition that separates economy class from business class. The disadvantage of this series is that there is a wall directly in front of you, and you will have to rest your eyes on it for the entire flight. But on the other hand, no one will lean back their seat on you, and your knees will not rest on the seat in front of the seated passenger. There is enough space in front of you, but you will not be able to stretch your legs.
Among the shortcomings, it can also be noted that the folding tables are built into the armrests, which is why they become motionless.
The big advantage of the front rows of economy class is that food and drinks on the plane are served from the nose. This means that passengers sitting in the front rows will have a greater choice of food and drinks, and they will receive meals earlier.
We don't have yet detailed information about the location of seats near the escape hatches, so we will try to give general information and recommendations based on the interior layout of the A321 S7.
Places near emergency hatches. The seats that are located in front of the emergency exit have a drawback - usually the backs of the seats do not recline or recline to a limited extent. The seats that are located after the emergency exit are the luxury seats, as the distance to the front row is quite large, and there is a lot of legroom. You can stretch your legs calmly, get up from your seat without disturbing your neighbor. A slight disadvantage is that the armrests of the chairs are fixed, as the pull-out table is built into the armrests. There are also restrictions for these seats - you can not put hand luggage at your feet, passengers with children or pets, people with disabilities or the elderly cannot sit in these seats. In the chairs located directly it is a bit cold near the escape hatch during the flight, but you can ask the flight attendants for a blanket.
Places near the toilet. Please note that, unlike the Aeroflot Airbus A321, the S7 has toilets only in the nose for business class and in the tail for economy class, that is, there are no toilets in the middle of the cabin. This means that by choosing any seat, except for the seats in the last row, you do not risk flying in the vicinity of the toilet. The last, 35th row is in the immediate vicinity of the toilet with all the ensuing consequences. The flight may be accompanied by the sounds of doors, water drains, smells. Also, in the aisle near you, a queue to the toilet may form. In this sense, two seats in the 34th row on either side of the aisle are also undesirable.
All other places are normal. When choosing a seat, you also need to take into account the rule - the closer to the nose of the aircraft, the faster the food is served, and the richer the assortment of food and drinks.

There is much more knee room than if there were chairs in front of you, which is also an advantage. But on the other hand, the whole flight to look at this wall is probably not very pleasant either, it gives the impression of a closed space. Also note that the folding tables are built into the armrests, which is why the armrests cannot be raised.
2-9 rows. These are ordinary places, they do not have any special features. However, you need to remember that food and drinks on board the aircraft are served from the bow, so the farther you sit from the nose, the later you will receive meals, and the less assortment will be.
10th row. Seats in this row have a disadvantage. The 10th row is located directly in front of the emergency hatches, which is why the backs of the seats do not recline or recline not completely, so as not to block the path to the emergency exit.
