Exceeding the dimensions and positions of hand luggage
It is forbidden to exceed the carry-on baggage allowance in S7. If for transportation in the cargo compartment it is allowed to purchase an additional item or pay for checked baggage at the current rates, when the size of the allowable bag is exceeded, then for hand luggage these conditions lose their relevance.
There are items that are not prohibited for carriage in baggage by S7 airlines, but for various reasons it turns out that they cannot be carried in luggage compartment. These are, for example, dimensional musical instruments. For them, you can book a seat next to you in the cabin. But first, you must call the Call Center (8 800 700-0707) to coordinate the carriage. An additional requirement is to pack the tool in a case that will allow you to securely fix it on the seat. The maximum weight of such cargo is 80 kg.
Important! With the purchase of an additional seat for a musical instrument, you will not be entitled to take one more item of hand luggage or baggage.
How to transport animals
S7 Airlines provides two ways to transport pets: in the hold and in the cabin. S7 establishes the following rules for transporting animals in hand luggage:
- Only cats, dogs or birds are allowed to be transported.
- The weight of each animal in the cabin must be limited to 8 kg (total weight with container). The maximum dimensions of the container for a pet is 115 cm with a mandatory height of up to 20 cm, which allows it to be placed under the seat.
- The pet carrier must provide fresh air and an unconstrained position for the animal. The cells are covered from above with a cloth that excludes the penetration of light. The floor of the carrier is lined with absorbent material.
- A cage with an animal is not included in the permitted carry-on baggage item and is always paid separately.
- You must inform about the desire to transport the animal 2 days or earlier before the departure of the aircraft and coordinate the transportation. Payment for the service is made at the airport on the eve of departure or at S7 representative offices.
Important! S7 has the right to refuse to transport the animal. A maximum of 2 containers with pets of non-antagonistic species are allowed in the economy class cabin. Pets are not allowed in business class.
- Keep the cage closed for the entire flight period.
- It is forbidden to sit with an animal on the seats in the area of emergency exits.
- In accordance with the legislation, animals are transported only accompanied by documents certifying their health and carrying out the necessary vaccinations.
Before traveling to international destinations, check the conditions for the import of animals that exist at the airport of the country of destination.
You will need to deal with the check-in of pet carriers that do not meet the weight and size limits, as well as if there is more than one cage per air passenger.
Guide dogs accompanied by supporting papers are transported without payment in the passenger cabin. These pets must be collared and muzzled and tied to the passenger seat at the feet. A traveler with such a dog can only sit in the tail of the liner.
The rules for carrying hand luggage at S7 are quite loyal compared to other air carriers, and if they are strictly observed, the trip will be comfortable.

Note! In some places (near emergency exits, in the front row), you can’t put things under the chair. Therefore, they need to be placed (at least during takeoff and landing) only on a special shelf above your head.
How is the size of hand luggage controlled?
As a rule, airline employees do not approach passengers with tape measures at the airport - this is not necessary. Special frames-templates are installed near the racks. If an item (suitcase, backpack, etc.) fits in such a frame, it can be transported free of charge.
The passenger can carry out the corresponding check independently, even before check-in. At the same time, it is not at all a fact that all those flying will have to go through such a procedure. Often the dimensions are evaluated visually, but if they already arouse suspicion (for example, a suitcase or backpack is clearly larger than 55 × 40 × 20), then they may already be asked to put the item in a frame to check compliance.

One piece of hand luggage carried on an S7 aircraft, according to the rules, cannot weigh more than 10 kg (for economy class fares - Economy Basic and Economy Flexible) or 15 kg (for business class fares - Business Basic and Business Flexible).

What can be carried in hand luggage in addition to the specified allowance
The rules of S7, agreed with the current legislation, define the following list:
- a handbag, backpack or briefcase, the weight of which does not exceed 5 kg, and the dimensions (according to the sum of three dimensions) - 75 cm;
- outerwear (type is not regulated);
- a bouquet of flowers (its size and weight are not specified);
- suit in a suitcase;
- goods purchased in duty-free shops at the airport of departure (including liquids) packed in a sealed (sealed) bag with a check attached to it. At the same time, the overall dimensions of such a package in the sum of three dimensions cannot exceed 75 cm, and the weight - 3 kg.
- crutches, canes, walkers, rollators, a folding wheelchair and other similar devices used by a passenger with a disability. During the flight, he will need to remove such a thing on a closing luggage rack (under the ceiling), or put it under a seat that is one row ahead;
- medicines or diet food. The quantity is determined by the passenger's need during the flight;
- a baby cradle, car seat and other accessories for a child under two years old, as well as a baby stroller or a child car seat for a child under 11 years old, if the dimensions of such an item do not exceed 55 × 40 × 20 cm and they can be placed on a shelf above the seat, or on floor, under the front seat.

Note! Baby carriages, seats, cradles and other restraint systems can be taken with you on an airplane free of charge only if the child for whom they are intended is traveling on the same flight. In the case when the stroller is transported without a child, the standard requirements for hand luggage and baggage apply to its carriage.
Transportation of liquids
Liquid in this context is understood not only as a substance in a liquid state. These are equated to objects (including food), the consistency of which is pasty or creamy. These are sauces, creams, pastes, gels, aerosols, canned food and much more. That is why, for example, you can freely carry hard cheese in hand luggage, but if the variety is soft (camembert, brie, ricotta, mozzarella, feta and others), appropriate restrictions are imposed on it. Or you can put olives “on their own” in hand luggage, but if the package contains oil or other liquid in addition to them, then the following rules come into force. The same applies to cosmetics.
So, you can carry liquids in your hand luggage, but following certain requirements.
- The volume of each container cannot be more than 100 ml. That is, if the toothpaste is in a 125-ml tube, the airport security staff will most likely take it away at the control;
Note! Packaging does not have to be original. With an aerosol deodorant or shaving gel, this will not work due to the pressure inside the bottle, but, for example, shampoo can be easily poured into a container of the allowed size (up to 100 ml inclusive).
- The containers must be placed in a transparent bag with a zipper (usually a zip zipper is used). Its volume is also limited - it cannot be more than 1 liter;
- If the passenger does not have such a package, it is damaged (torn) or does not meet the requirements, then the airport employee can issue it free of charge, or offer to purchase it for a small amount.
- This package must be removed from the main piece of hand luggage (bag, backpack, etc.) and placed on the tape at the security control separately for scanning.

Additional Information! Baby food (if the passenger is traveling with a child) is not subject to the 100 ml limit per container. But there is no need to take water - the stewardess will bring it upon request.
What can not be carried as hand luggage:
- piercing objects. Any, without exception. Even such harmless, at first glance, as nail scissors, or a nail file, will be confiscated. However, plastic disposable knives and forks without pointed ends are allowed;
- toxic objects, as well as poisons;
- explosive and combustible substances;
- corrosive, oxidizing substances;
- weapons (there are separate requirements for their transportation);
- radioactive items;
- other things that the security officer considers dangerous.
The general criterion in this case is clear - you can not take on board something that can injure or kill other passengers or crew members, as well as arrange a terrorist attack on board (make an explosive device, etc.). Hence the very stringent requirements for liquids, which many passengers perceive with hostility. But in modern world additional precautions are not superfluous.

Excess carry-on baggage cannot be booked with S7 Airlines - even for extra money. Everything superfluous (that is, that which does not fit into the established norms) must be checked in as luggage. Depending on the tariff, an additional fee may be charged for this - the cost varies accordingly. Therefore, it is recommended that a passenger, even when buying a ticket (especially at a basic, baggage-free fare), decide whether it is possible in a particular case to meet the requirements for the weight and size of hand luggage, or whether he should immediately buy additional luggage and be calm. Indeed, according to S7 tariffs, the fee for baggage at the airport is much more than directly in the process of purchasing an air ticket. Therefore, trying to save a relatively small amount can be costly in practice.
On a note! S7 Airlines imposes fairly loyal requirements for passengers' hand luggage. This follows from the fact that even those who bought the ticket at the cheapest fare are allowed to take a bag, backpack, or other object weighing 10 kg into the cabin. Whereas some competitors have already lowered this threshold to the minimum allowed by law of 5 kg.
For this reason, the number of those who choose Economy Basic is increasing. Indeed, with certain tricks, a suitcase or backpack 55 × 40 × 20 is quite enough for a vacation lasting a week or two, or even more.
