The safest airlines. Emirates Airlines is investigating an incident with an Airbus A380 at Domodedovo Emirates Airlines

All airline magnates, as well as companies organizing cheap flights, have one thing in common - they are now more reliable than ever. But there is still a difference if you look back a few years and analyze the statistics. Below are 10 companies to trust and the 10 most unreliable airlines (out of 60 possible).

Top ten according to JACDEC (Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre) statistics:

1. Qantas
The Australian airline "Oantas" has been carrying passengers for 48 years without a single incident ending in a fatality. Therefore, she topped the list of the best. The reliability coefficient was calculated based on the number of fatalities and aircraft failures between 1973 and 2007. The only shadow that falls on the company's reputation is the frequent recent times technical difficulites. For example, on July 27, 2008, a Boeing 747 had to make an emergency landing due to a hole in its hull.

2 Finnair
In second place is the Finnish airline Finnair, whose flight statistics since 1963 do not include a single disaster. The relatively small airline also prides itself on not having any dangerous malfunctions.

3 Cathay Pacific
The company of Hong Kong, a former British colony, can look back over 36 years and be proud of flights in which not a single person was injured. Also, no dangerous technical problems were recorded during the flights. The reliability of the airline is overshadowed only by the fact that a bomb exploded on board, which occurred in 1972.

4. "EL AL"
Israeli state-owned airline ranks 4th on the list top airlines. However, in 1992, an airplane crashed in Amsterdam, but since it was not a passenger car, but a truck, this fact was not taken into account when summing up the statistics.

5. "All Nippon Airways"
The last Japanese airline crash happened 37 years ago when a passenger plane collided with a military aircraft. There have also been technical failures of late: in October 2007, an All Nippon Airways plane landed on the wrong runway.

6. "Air Berlin"
The German airline "Air Berlin" is in sixth place. According to statistics, not a single death has ever been recorded. And also during its 30-year existence, the company has not lost any of its aircraft.

7 Virgin Atlantic
The company, founded by billionaire Richard Branson, has been carrying passengers for 24 years without a single fatality. English Airlines of this company are aimed only at long-distance flights.

8. "Emirates"
In eighth place is the Arab airline, whose statistics are also famous for flights without fatal accidents or car crashes.

9. "Air Europa"
The Spanish charter airline is in 9th place in the list of the best. This year she made it to the top 10 for the first time. Over the past 22 years, not a single case with a fatal outcome has been recorded. In October 2007, the Boeing 737 had problems landing in Kattowitz (Poland), but fortunately everything ended well and the plane was able to land. A year later, the plane of the same airline moved further than expected on the runway in Lanzarote. However, in both cases no one was hurt.

10. "EVA Air"
About 20 years without serious accidents - in the statistics of the Taiwanese airline. During this time, there were several technical failures, but no sad outcomes were recorded, so "EVA Air" is the last in the list of reliable airlines.

The ten most unreliable airlines, according to JACDEC (Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Center) statistics:

51. Thai Airways
The Bangkok airline, founded in 1960, is one of the most dangerous airlines in the world. According to statistics, eight incidents were recorded during this time, in which 428 people died. A whole series of accidents in the 90s. drastically downgraded Thai Airways' reliability rating.

52. Aeromexico
The most terrible plane crash Mexico happened to the aircraft of this airline 12 years ago, when the "DC-9" collided with a small single-engine aircraft. At the same time, 64 people died.

53. Philippine Airline
This airline is unfortunately characterized by a long list of accidents: one of the latest is the case that occurred in October 2007, in which "Airbus" jumped out of the runway in Butuan City. 34 people were injured.

54. "Korean Air"
The statistics of South Korean Airlines recorded one of the worst accidents in the history of air travel: in 1983, a Boeing 747, which had gone off course, was shot down by Russian missiles. The most recent crash happened in 1999.

55. Saudi Arabian Airlines
The reliability test failed to show the airline on the positive side: in 1996, 349 people died in a collision with an IL aircraft of the Kazakh airline Air Kasachstan.

56. Gulf Air
Since the founding of the company in 1950, there have been three terrible disasters. The last time, in August 2000, a plane crashed in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, killed 143 passengers.

57. "Air India"
The fourth place from the end, and therefore one of the worst positions, is occupied by an Indian airline. Over the past 30 years, 4 cars have been lost. The most serious incident was recorded in 1985, when an explosion occurred on board a Boeing 747, which claimed the lives of 329 people.

58. China Airlines
The Taiwan Island Airline (not to be confused with the airline of the same name on the mainland of the state) is one of the most dangerous in Asia: in its entire history, there are 755 deaths. So, in 2002, a Boeing 747 crashed into the sea, killing 225 people.

59. "TAM"
Brazilian Airways ranks penultimately in the statistics and is therefore the second most unreliable airline. The reason was a plane crash in 2007, when in Sao Paolo "Airbus" got off runway and crashed into nearby structures. In such a tragic incident, 186 lives were claimed.

60. Turkish Airlines
The most unreliable airline was recognized Turkish Airlines Turkish Airlines. For example, in 1974, 346 people died in a plane crash.

On Wednesday, August 3, a Boeing 777-300 airline owned Emirates Airlines, operated flight EK521 from the Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala state in the southwest of the country) to Dubai.

The destination is incredibly popular among Indian citizens who fly to Dubai for work. There were 300 people on board, including 282 passengers. Sai Baskar, one of the passengers, told the Times of India that there were no problems during the flight, as well as reports of technical malfunctions. But according to Mathrubhumi News, the pilot warned passengers before landing in Dubai that there were problems with the landing gear, so they would have to make an emergency landing.

“We felt that the plane first landed, then took off again and hit the ground,” says Baskar. - When the smoke began in the cabin, we realized that something had happened and it was taking a dangerous turn. Emergency exits opened with difficulty. Passengers began to evacuate under the direction of the crew, according to Baskar, some passengers were injured when they tried to jump out of emergency exits. The team left the plane last. Both passengers and the airline call the organization of the evacuation "impeccable" and note that they managed to leave the plane in a maximum of a minute.

“If we had stayed on board a minute longer, a tragedy would have happened,” Baskar said.

The pilot of the plane that happened to be near the scene told NDTV that the Boeing landed "with great difficulty, hitting the runway hard with its tail."

There are no casualties among the passengers and crew. One civil defense officer was killed while extinguishing the fire and carrying out rescue operations. 14 people were hospitalized, including four firefighters. Mostly they received burns and carbon monoxide poisoning. Earlier, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE said that "many passengers are in shock, but only one person from the crew was taken to the hospital."

Sarah Louise Sherwood, who was on another plane nearby at the time, said that the Boeing people were “trying to escape before the big bang happened, there was fire everywhere. Our plane stopped right next to

the passengers on our flight started praying and screaming to be let off the plane.”

A number of media outlets have published videos showing the moment emergency landing and an explosion, presumably, of the plane's engine. There, in particular, you can see how the plane rides along the runway, falling on its right side, columns of thick smoke rise above it. By the end of the 30 second video, the smoke becomes darker. Another video captures the moment of the explosion, after which some detail flies off the plane.

The aircraft came into the hands of the airline in March 2003, and the management of Emirates officially stated that its technical condition could not be the cause of the fire. The professionalism of the pilot is also not yet in doubt: at a press conference in connection with the incident, it was said that the pilot's experience was 7,000 hours. According to the official version, it is believed that the fire occurred "after the destruction due to a hard landing."

In connection with the incident, the airline canceled 42 flights at Dubai Airport, the work of the air harbor was paralyzed for six hours. The General Civil Aviation Administration (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates has already launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. In particular, they will have to establish whether faulty chassis could have caused the accident.

Aviation expert David Learmont suggested that

one of the emergency factors could be the heat - at the Dubai airport it was almost 50 ° C.

“If you have a damaged wing and there is a fuel leak, it evaporates easily at such a high temperature, and these fumes are extremely flammable,” The Guardian quoted him as saying. It is also worth considering that it is often windy in Dubai, and the wind often changes direction and speed, and this creates potentially dangerous conditions for aviation.

Among the 12 companies with an impeccable reputation (the highest reliability index is 0.00) there are several "veterans" - founded in 1922 Qantas Airways Finnair (1923), cathay pacific (1946), All Nippon Airways(1953). Over the past 34 years (JACDEC, which investigates accidents during air travel, has been keeping its own statistics since 1973), these companies have not had a single accident.

A German company can boast of a reputation that has not been overshadowed by accidents (not a single disaster in all the years of its existence). Air Berlin, British Virgin Atlantic Airways, an Irish discounter company Ryanair, young Arab airlines Emirates and Quatar Airways.

Among other companies, eminent "Europeans" showed themselves well: british airways(the company has recorded 2 significant incidents and the last 30 years have passed without disasters) and Lufthansa(3 accidents and 13 years without incident).

The only Russian airline included in the Top 50 Aeroflot ranked 41st in the rating and received a score of 0.57. Moreover, the countdown has been conducted since 1992, when the main and, in fact, uncontested state air carrier became an independent airline. Since that time, 10 accidents have occurred with Aeroflot aircraft, the total number of deaths in which amounted to 182 people. However, the airliners of this company have been flying without incident for the last 5 years.

The largest number of accidents (12) was recorded in Philippine Airlines.

The largest plane crash with the highest number of victims occurred with the aircraft of the company Japan Airlines August 12, 1985, when a Boeing 747-SR crashed into Mount Ogura, 100 km from Tokyo. Due to improper repairs, 520 people died, after which several mechanics and engineers committed suicide.

The airline closes the Top-50 Turkish Airlines(score - 3.49): she recorded 10 major accidents, the largest of which in 1974 claimed the lives of 346 people.

Among the safest aircraft - Boeing 777: none of the 600 cars of this model produced since 1994 are listed in the accident statistics.

In general, as noted by Aero International, the results can be called encouraging: over the past year, major airlines there were no significant accidents. According to the magazine's experts, control is being strengthened, the so-called "flight bans", applied not only in the EU countries, but throughout the world, have become a formidable weapon. Globalization also plays a positive role, thanks to which large air alliances equally must maintain a high level of safety.

These are the 60 best airlines in the world. Even if the airline is at the bottom of the list, it still means the highest level of reliability.

Among Russian airlines only 2 Transaero (number 23) and Aeroflot (number 37). Now (with the departure of Transaero) there is already one left - it's a pity ...

Top 10 safest airlines in the world

At the beginning of this year, the German research center JACDEC published the traditional ranking of the safest airlines in the world in 2012.

It is noteworthy, and let's not hide it - it's nice to see two Russian air carriers in the list of the "most-most": 16th place was taken by Transaero and 39th by Aeroflot. A year earlier, they were ranked 15th and 35th, respectively.
We also note that last year's winner of the rating - the Japanese airline All Nippon Airways, this year became only 12th.
We present you the top ten safest airlines in the world according to the German research center.

1 Finnair- the largest and oldest airline in Finland (founded in 1923) became by the end of the year not only the safest air carrier in Europe, but also in the world. A year earlier, the Finnish airline was second in the JACDEC world ranking.

For several decades, not a single Finnair airliner has been involved in a plane crash in which people would have died. The last tragic incident was recorded in November 1963, when an American Douglas DC-3 aircraft crashed while approaching the Aland Islands (Finland). Since then, security for the company is not empty words, but round-the-clock work and every minute control.

It should be noted that Finnair is a member of one of the world's largest aviation Oneworld alliances, along with the Russian carrier S7. The services of the airline can also be used in Russia. Finnair aircraft operate flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Murmansk.

2 Air New Zealand- the national carrier of New Zealand is regularly ranked among the ten safest airlines in the world. In last year's JACDEC ranking, Air New Zealand was in tenth place. One of the leaders of the airline, David Morgan, commenting on Air NZ's second place in the safety rating, noted that this result is largely due to the "wide introduction of the principles of a safety culture in the airline." Here, by the way, we can recall a series of creative videos from Air New Zealand, in which boring information about the rules of behavior on an airplane is presented in the form of entertaining stories that are simply impossible to stop watching.

Note that latest plane crash with the loss of life at Air NZ happened 34 years ago. In November 1979, an American McDonnell Douglas DC-10 collided with Mount Erebus during a sightseeing flight to Antarctica. 257 people died.

By the way, this year, the airline's management admitted that two years ago, one of the Air NZ pilots fell asleep twice during a flight from London to Los Angeles. The pilot's sleep lasted a total of three minutes, and according to the assurance of the leaders, he did not conceal any security threat, since the co-pilot was in the cockpit, and he already kept everything under control. We will soon find out how this recognition will affect the company's rating next year.

3 Cathay Pacific Airways- Hong Kong's largest air carrier for the second year in a row closes the top three safest airlines in the world. In its history, and the company was founded in 1946, Cathay Pacific has had several unpleasant incidents and tragic cases, the last of which occurred in June 1972. Then, during the flight, an explosive device went off on board the American Convair 880 aircraft. More than 80 people died. Since then, about one and a half million flights of the airline have been calm and without excesses.

By the way, Cathay Pacific aircraft regularly operate flights from Moscow to Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Cambodia, as well as to Bali, Taiwan and the Philippines.

4 Emirates Airline- one of the world's largest airlines was founded in 1985 in the United United Arab Emirates. Emirates began its history with two Airbuses and one Boeing, which were leased. As the leaders of the carrier said at the time: "Our goal is quality, not quantity." So, thanks to its increased requirements for the quality of transportation and safety, the airline immediately gained popularity among passengers around the world. As far as safety is concerned, not a single Emirates aircraft has been involved in a fatal crash since the company was founded. Moreover, extremely rare and unpleasant incidents with Emirates aircraft.

I remember only the case when in 2010 a Boeing 777 flying over India, got into a strong turbulent zone and began to fall from a height of 7 thousand meters. Only when one and a half kilometers remained to the ground, the pilots were able to level the plane. Due to strong shaking, 17 people received minor injuries. In total, there were 361 passengers on board the ship. Perhaps this is the only serious incident that has occurred with the aircraft of the airline since its inception.

By the way, Emirates Airline planes operate three flights to Russia daily: two to Moscow and one to St. Petersburg.

5. Etihad Airways - the national air carrier of the UAE was founded only 10 years ago and during this time there has not been a single tragic incident involving the company's aircraft. True, there were several forced landings of liners due to false reports of a bomb threat. So, for example, in 2008, in the toilet of a plane flying from Abu Dhabi to Islamabad, passengers found a note where an unknown person said that the liner would be blown up.
The pilots landed the plane at the airport in Karachi (Pakistan), but the sappers did not find any explosive devices.

And in January 2011, a drunken Briton, who was flying from Abu Dhabi to London, began to threaten the crew that he would detonate a bomb. The pilots landed the plane urgently, and the "terrorist" was arrested. The bomb was not found on him, but this did not prevent the British from being sentenced to three years in prison.

Note that from Moscow, Etihad Airways planes can go to Thailand, India, Malaysia, Australia and Sri Lanka.

6.EVA Airways is the second largest airline in Taiwan. It was founded in March 1989, and during this time none of its aircraft not only did not get into a plane crash, but also did not participate in the slightest degree of serious incidents. Note that in last year's ranking of the safest airlines in the world, EVA Airways ranked 14th.

7. TAP Portugal - national airline Portugal has significantly improved its position in the ranking of safe air carriers over the year, rising from 16th to 7th place. TAP was founded in March 1945, and during that time only one tragic incident occurred with the airline's aircraft. In November 1977, a Boeing 727, while landing on Madeira Island, ran off the runway and crashed down a steep bank. 125 passengers and six crew members were killed.

Since then, there has not been a single serious accident in the history of the airline and TAP Portugal is rightfully considered one of the safest air carriers in the world. In addition, there were events in the history of TAP that the company remembers with pride. So, for example, in 1982, the services of TAP Portugal were used by none other than Pope John Paul II, when he flew from Rome to Porto. it historical event had a positive effect on the reputation of the airline. Subsequently, the services of the Portuguese carrier were used by the king and queen of Sweden.

Note that TAP regularly operates flights from Moscow to Lisbon. In addition, a code-share cooperation agreement has been signed between the Portuguese carrier and the Russian S7.

8. Hainan Airlines is a Chinese airline founded in 1989. In its almost 25-year history, plane crashes and serious accidents that would have affected people have bypassed Hainan Airlines.

The services of one of the safest airlines in the world can also be used in Russia. Hainan Airlines regularly operates flights to China from Moscow and St. Petersburg.

9 Virgin Australia- low-cost airline of the "green continent". In its 13 years of history, Virgin has had no plane crashes or serious incidents. According to the carrier's management, the airline undergoes strict security procedures on a daily basis. The airline is working closely with the investigating authorities, as well as the Australian federal police.

Note that the airline staff is so vigilant that in 2003 they removed a disabled passenger from the plane. The person had impaired coordination of movements, and the crew considered that he was either drunk or a terrorist. Subsequently, the man sued the airline and won.

10 British Airways- the national airline of Great Britain closes the top ten safest air carriers in the world. She was 13th last year.

British Airways was founded in 1974, and two years later there was an accident in the skies over Zagreb. biggest plane crash in the history of the company. Due to a controller error, two Trident 3B aircraft flying from London to Istanbul and a Douglas DC-9 collided. All passengers and crew members were killed.

Since then, British Airways has been impeccable in terms of safety. Every year, the airline's liners carry more than 30 million passengers, including those from Moscow and St. Petersburg.

But I would like to recall another story, when only thanks to the professionalism of British pilots it was possible to prevent a serious disaster.

In June 1982, a Boeing 747 crashed into a pole. volcanic ash. As a result, due to damage by abrasive substances, all four engines stopped in turn. The pilots stopped the fuel supply and hoped only for the aerodynamic properties of the aircraft. According to their calculations, the liner could hold out in the air for about 23 minutes. It was then that the captain of the aircraft, Eric Moody, took the microphone and delivered to the passengers, probably the most optimistic address in history. civil aviation:

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the captain of the ship. We had a small problem on board. All four engines stopped. We are doing our best to launch them. I hope this doesn't bother you too much." Passengers themselves would later call this "the biggest understatement".

Whatever it was, but the pilots managed to restart the engines and land the plane. None of the passengers and crew members were hurt.

The Aviation Herald portal clarifies that the incident at Domodedovo occurred on September 10, but it became known about it only now.

According to an industry resource, the pilot Airbus aircraft A380, flying from Dubai to Moscow, made a mistake while landing. The A380 airliner, which is considered the largest passenger aircraft in the world, approached the ground to a height of 120 m at a rate of 600 m. After that, the aircraft began to climb, and then went into the second circle. The pilots again failed to land it, so the liner went on another circle. He managed to sit down only on the third attempt. None of the passengers were hurt.

Emirates confirmed the incident to Reuters. The airline stressed that the flight is being checked. They declined to give details, citing an ongoing investigation in the Emirates. According to the agency, the Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE (Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA), considered the incident "serious".
