Phu Quoc Island, located in the Gulf of Thailand, next to the mainland coast of Vietnam, today is one of the most popular vacation spots in South-East Asia. This is a fully developed resort with wild jungle, where no man has yet been.

Both those who love noisy parties and those who like peace and solitude will find beaches here. Young people and parents with children will also enjoy the island. There are places for romantic meetings, communication with children and calm contemplation of the elderly.

It will definitely be of interest to tourists who love the wild tropics, untouched by human civilization, or who prefer beach holiday. But the gigantic tourism industry is steadily encroaching on the island. Hurry up to visit Vietnam in Phu Quoc!

The most popular beaches in Phu Quoc

This is the most well-groomed and well-maintained beach, which is always popular with guests of the island. Along its coast are the best beach bungalows and hotels. Other hotels are located far from the sea, they get to them by bike or taxi.

This clean place with a gentle shore, where it is very convenient to sunbathe and swim with children. It is important to remember that here the scorching sun gently sets over the edge of the sea. If from the first day you do not take to the beach sunscreen, you can get badly burned.

The sun is extremely hot here, it cannot be compared with either the Crimea or Sochi. The first days it is better to hide from him in the shade of cafe canopies or under sprawling palm trees. Sunset in the High season on the island starts around 18:00 and can be very spectacular.

Long Beach (Long Beach) stretches along the west coast of Phu Quoc, it is the most visited. Most tourists on weekends and holidays. But even then, tourists can not be seen on a vast territory, because. the length of the beach is more than 15 km.

Long Beach has beige sand with large patches of fine white sand. Beach fleas live here, they are not dangerous for vacationers, but annoying. Hotel staff handle beach sand special preparations.

You can rent a sun lounger on the spot for 100 VND for the whole day. If you are staying at a hotel located on the beach, you do not have to pay for beach equipment. The prices are democratic, but compared to Cambodia it is a little expensive.

Due to the long length of Long Beach, you can fully explore it and choose the best place to stay if you have a vehicle (bike, scooter or taxi). They can be rented on the island for quite reasonable money.

The northern part of this beach is known to the Crimeans because here, near the Sunset Sonato hotel, in 2017, the famous music Festival"Kazantip - Episode" on great venue built by the organizers.

New buildings, decoration, design of this project today have become another modern attraction of Phu Quoc Island. Everything is allowed to be photographed or filmed absolutely free of charge.

It is located in the southern part of the island. Sao Beach can be reached by scooter or bike, renting them in the local capital. You should drive strictly to the south for about 25 km. If you take a taxi, then a kilometer costs 10,000 dong or 27 rubles.

The road leading to the Bai Sao beach is of quite tolerable quality, and a dirt road begins at the entrance to it. Masks are sold on the road to protect your face if you ride a bike or scooter, but it is much more comfortable to take a taxi.

Small on the beach White sand and magnificent seascapes in the style of "Bounty", large swings hang on tropical palm trees. The beach is filled with vacationers, there are hotels here, there are sun loungers with people sunbathing on them.

Here you can see tourists from all over the world who come to Bai Sao Beach to see and capture it on a camera or video camera. incredible beauty. To take a selfie on a swing, a huge line of vacationers line up.

Thanks to the white sand that covers the bottom near the shore, the sea seems perfectly clean and completely transparent, which is close to the truth. Swimming on Bai Sao Beach is a pleasure, although the sea is periodically worried.

The disadvantage of this beach is that it is poorly equipped, it has a single cafe. There are no water, sports, youth entertainments here, there are no shops or souvenir shops either. But you need to visit here only for aesthetic pleasure.

Bai Sao beach in Phu Quoc is suitable for those who do not really need noise and entertainment, who want to hide from the whole world for a couple of weeks, immerse themselves in themselves and live in solitude, communicating with their closest and dearest people.

The beach is located on the western coast of the island. It is extremely similar in quality and popularity to Long Beach, but much smaller. The sand on the beach is white, like snow, and the water near the shore is crystal clear.

Part of the province of Kien Giang, the Phu Quoc area includes the island itself and 105 wonderful islets of various sizes. The island is located at a distance of 46 km from the city of Hatien - the nearest city of the "mainland" of this province.
Most of the territory is occupied by beautiful sandy beaches, but there is also a mountainous area in which there are 99 mountain peaks; the highest of them is the peak of Mount Chua with a height of 603 meters. There are six major towns and villages on the island, such as An Thoi Town, Kia Kan, Duong Dong, GanhDau Village, Ham Ninh and RachVem. Each of these towns and villages carefully preserves its own traditions, features and attractions, which undoubtedly contribute to a great time on the island. The best beaches and attractions of Phu Quoc Island

FUKOCA BEACHES
The first, and for some, the only reason to visit Fukok is its pristine coastline with several heavenly beaches. They have not yet been fully explored, and this is what gives the coast of the island a romantic appeal and beauty that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

The beaches of Phukok Island stretch along the coast from north to south. You can only admire them and decide for a long time which one you will like the most. In order not to be tormented by the choice, we suggest paying attention to the best beaches of Fukok.
Truong Beach. This is a very attractive area with a white sandy beach stretching for 20 km: from Dinh Cau beach before Tau Ru beach. The coastal waters are home to many inhabitants of the deep sea, and the conditions for fishing are ideal. There is an opportunity to watch local fishermen and taste seafood right on the beach.
Ganh Dau beach located in the north of Phu Quoc island on the border with Cambodia. Starting at Duong Dong, the coastline extends north through national park Phu Quoc Islands - and all this is a beautiful beach with blue ocean depths and white sand. From Ganh Dau Beach on a clear day you can see Mount Tha Lon in Cambodia. Do not miss the opportunity to taste delicious seafood.
Sao beach located in the south, near the An Thoi pier and 30 km from Duong Dong. The beach is very quiet. There are few merchants here, so nothing will stop you from fully enjoying the magnificent views. The quality of service on the beach is beyond praise: from basic amenities (chaise lounge and umbrella) to a restaurant.
Vung Bau beach- an idyllic beach in the north of the island near Dai beach, 40 km from Duong Dong and will appeal to those who would like to discover an ecologically clean beach in Vietnam.
Bai Thom beach- a deserted beach in the north of Phu Quoc Island, 35 km from Duongdong. This beach is quite secluded, making it ideal for adventure seekers.
Bai Wong Beach located 8 km from Duongdong. It is a wide and shallow beach with white sand and a long palm avenue. Here good infrastructure and, as a bonus, it is on Bai Vong Beach that most people get the best photos.

TASTE THE ISLAND ATMOSPHERE
Phu Quoc is famous for two things: beautiful beaches And national cuisine. Particularly famous on the island is the nuoc mam fish sauce, which has become popular throughout Vietnam and the world in general. You can watch the process of making the sauce at the factory Phu Quoc Fish Sauce located near the market in Duongdong. Entrance to the factory is free for everyone, but it is better to take a guide who will tell you in detail about all the stages of creating the sauce. And be prepared for... the ubiquitous fish spirit. Opening hours from 8.00 to 11.00 and from 13.00 to 17.00. In addition, there is something else worth seeing and trying here: spicy black pepper, with a sharp, but rather original taste. Local farmers themselves conduct tours of their plantations for a small fee. You can arrange a walk through the thickets of black pepper at any time of the year, but still the best time to visit is from February to July, when the harvest takes place.
Phu Quoc Island has a huge selection of seafood, and they are not only fresh, but also delicious. Caught from the sea and immediately cooked shrimp, fish and shellfish are a real delight for travelers when visiting the island.
Three must-try dishes when traveling to Phu Quoc

Nhum
One of the most bizarre shellfish to try might be nhum, a sea urchin. It is brown and looks like a coconut. There are two options for eating this dish: raw, or after thorough heat treatment. If raw food does not cause discomfort, do not miss the opportunity to taste raw nhum. When you order "nhum", the seller cuts the whole nhum in half horizontally like a coconut. After that, sprinkle it with lime juice and take the meat out of the shell with a spoon, dip it in wasabi sauce and enjoy. Fresh taste and sweet aroma, combined with wasabi sauce and lime sourness, you will hardly be able to resist and refuse a second serving.

Nhong
Phu Quoc is also famous for its nhong fish dish. You can cook it in different ways: fried, boiled, stewed. Nhong fish is also used to make "cha ka" - a cake with fish. A slice of rice cake, vegetables and fish cake is a good combination for rolls.
Nhong fish will also serve as a good decoration for a salad. It is used to prepare "goi ka" - fish salad. The secret to a good salad lies in choosing the right fish and preparing the sauce. The fish must be fresh, and the fillets are cut very thinly. Before you eat the fish, sprinkle it with lime juice. Then place the fish and some vegetables on a slice of rice cake and dip in the sauce. The sauce is a mixture of garlic, chili, peanuts, lime juice, fish sauce and a small amount of sugar.

Bang kang
Bang Kang (a type of noodle) - takes on a completely different taste when combined with fish and is considered a feature of the traditional cuisine of Phukok Island. The dish is served hot: it is a bowl of noodle soup garnished with thu fish fillet. On your plate, you can find this fish in three versions: boiled, fish meatballs and pieces of well-fried fillet. The different ways of cooking and serving this fish give this dish a more whimsical flavor. Most best options bang kang you can try in a cafe Banh Canh Lady Phung located on a small alley not far from the street Nguyen Trung Truc.

What to see in Phu Quoc

SONG HYNG PAGODA
According to Mahayana, Sung Hyung Pagoda is one of the oldest pagodas in Phu Quoc. It is located at the foot of a mountain near the center of Duong Dong. There is no exact information about who and when exactly the pagoda was built. The old-timers also speak of two different pagodas, which were called "Sung Nghia" and "Hung Nhan" and were erected long before it; then these names merged together, and today it is all called "Sung Hyung Pagoda". According to rumors, it was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The pagoda was restored twice: in 1924 and 1960.
Sung Hyng Pagoda has a unique architecture among ancient pagodas. Its doors face north. The pagoda is surrounded by huge trees, and the structure resembles a staircase that gets higher and higher with each step. It has an impressive triangular-shaped gate leading to the statue of "Avolokiteshvara Bodhisattva" (the embodiment of the infinite compassion of all Buddhas or the Goddess of Mercy), located in the middle of the courtyard. Inside is a carefully decorated main hall. The altar of the temple is located in the main hall, in which three Buddhas sit on a dais: Amitabha is in the middle, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva is on the right and Avolokiteshvara Bodhisattva is on the left. Behind the statues is Cao Sanh's famous masterpiece, The Flying Dragon.
There are also many other decorations inside the pagoda, such as the "Dai Hong Chung" - a large bell, and many engraved quotes on the philosophy of Chinese Buddhism.
Visiting Sung Hyng Pagoda is quite easy as it is located near the center of Duong Dong. Free admission. The pagoda is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

KAU PALACE
One of the most famous attractions of Fukok is located on the west coast of the island. The palace was built relatively recently, in 1937, in honor of the goddess of the seas Thien Hau. It is worth getting to the palace at least for the picturesque views at the mouth of the Duongdong River. A special spectacle is prepared for those who enter the palace at the end of November (15-16 day of the tenth lunar month according to the Buddhist calendar), when the festival dedicated to Thien Hau takes place in the palace.

COCONUT PRISON
Coconut Prison, also known as Phu Kok Prison, is located in An Thoi. The name "coconut" originated during the Indochinese War and the rule of French colonists in Vietnam. Then there were four sectors in the prison: "A", "B", "C" and "D"; the prison is believed to have held up to 14,000 prisoners. However, at the end of the Indochina War, most of the prisoners returned home in accordance with the Geneva Accords.
With the outbreak of the Vietnam War, American troops built a new prison under the same name. The new prison had separate sections for men, women and the elderly. Over time, in 1966, another part of the prison was built, intended for Vietnamese soldiers serving their sentences. There were 12 separate sectors in the new part of the prison. Each sector was divided into four more sectors. The prison was very strictly guarded, surveillance was carried out around the clock.
Nowadays, since 1986, the "Coconut Prison" has been recognized as an object of national historical heritage and now serves as a place for excursions, being a living evidence of war crimes. Some of the instruments of torture that were once tested on prisoners are kept here to this day. For example, you can see the Katso Tiger Cage, in which the prisoner was in complete darkness for a long time, and after being released from this tiger cage, the prisoners most often went blind.

MAGIC WELL
magic well Giếng Ngự located 2 km from An Thoi. Wonderful scenery of the lake and verdant mountain slopes The islands undoubtedly cause genuine delight among tourists. On the mountain is a small temple and a pink stone throne known as the "King's Throne". When approaching the Magic Well, one can see a stele at the place where the "King's Sword" entered, and from where a cool spring later gushed.
The Magic Well has not only historical, but also mystical significance, which should not be overlooked by travelers to Phu Kok. In the 17th century, fleeing from Tai-son's pursuing troops, King Nguyen and his warriors became exhausted from thirst due to lack of fresh water. To survive, the king had no choice but to raise his sword to heaven and pray to the Almighty: "If the Almighty still wants to see me as a king, then let him send us food and water." As soon as the king plunged his sword into the ground after this prayer, from under the ground, to everyone's amazement, a stream of pure water clogged.
Choosing the island of Phukok as a refuge to rest and recover from the defeat in the Tay Son rebellion, King Nguyen was able to defeat Tyson's troops and take control of the Saigon Gia Din region a few years later.

SOURCE TRANG
The spring, 15 km long, originates in Mount Ham Ninh and flows through the forest thickets, forming waterfalls. Sparkling waterfalls, falling into the green forest, undoubtedly complement the picturesque landscape, presented to the astonished gaze of the traveler. Perhaps the very name of the source, the name Tranh (“picture”, “view”) comes from the magnificent view of this source and the surrounding area.
A 15-minute motorbike ride from Duongdong town will take you to Tranh Alley, an ideal spot for a picnic. You can take food with you to rest at the spring, and then go into the forest and watch birds and other representatives of the local flora and fauna, following the winding paths and rocky steps along the stream. After a long walk, during which you will enjoy the singing of birds and the beauty of orchids, you will see Grotto Hang Doi(Bat Grotto), located in the mountains at an altitude of 200 meters. It is home to beautiful stalactites and can become another hospitable place for tourists. And after a fascinating walk, you can relax by plunging into the cool waters of the source. The cost of visiting the source is VND 30,000.
And be sure to listen to the story of a mysterious fish weighing 10 kg, caught in a spring by local residents in 2008. This fish has strange dots on its head, which makes its head look like a monk's head, and its tail looks like a float on the water. They say that this fish is so rare that the locals have not seen anything like it for a long time. Although one foreign tourist offered $1,000 for the fish, local tourism industry leaders still display it as an exhibit at the show. So, you can watch it yourself for free.

FISHING VILLAGE HEM NIH
Located 20 km northwest of Duong Dong, the fishing village of Ham Ninh is famous for its enchanting scenery and the quiet life of the local fishermen.
Initially, the inhabitants of the village of Ham Ninh were engaged only in fishing, but recently tourism and the sale of seafood and souvenirs have become the main source of income for the local population.
When visiting Ham Ninh, travelers get a rare chance to taste refreshing healthy drinks and seafood - for example, ginseng and algae tincture, Tram mushroom (a special island mushroom), seahorse tincture. And, of course, admire the enchanting sunsets, and before returning home, buy crabs, a bottle of seahorse tincture or souvenirs made of shells as a gift to family and friends.

DIVING IN THE WATERS OF THE ANTHOY ARCHIPELAGO
Archipelago An Thới, located opposite the southern end of Fukuoka, consists of 15 tiny islands, the largest of which is only three kilometers long. Fans of snorkeling and diving, fishing enthusiasts, as well as those who want to spend time in the image of Robinson Crusoe (small fishing villages are only on the largest of the islands, all the rest are uninhabited) should definitely visit the islands of the archipelago and plunge into the coastal waters. Boats to the islands depart from the pier in An Thoi, but you can always save yourself the trouble of looking for the right boat and book a trip to the archipelago by contacting the hotel administrator. It is important to remember that at the height of the rainy season - from July to September, it is almost impossible to get to the archipelago, boat traffic in Fukuoka is seasonal.

Top Travel Agent. This does not oblige you to anything, various travel agents will send you answers and you will get an objective picture of prices. It also makes sense to contact Top Travel Agent for those who do not have time to organize their trip.

(aka Starfish Beach or StarFish Beach) - one of the most picturesque and sparsely populated throughout Fukuoka. Almost devoid of entertainment infrastructure, it is attractive numerous starfish that live on the coast. Among other advantages of the attraction - great scenery, cleanliness and privacy.

Description of the beach with starfish

Or, as it is also called, starfish beach spread out in northern part Fukuoka. He is quite hard to reach and located at a considerable distance from the main tourist places islands: travelers look here seldom, more often - as part of excursion groups.

Rush Vem- this paradise , covered small like flour, white sand. The sea is shallow, incredible warm and transparent, beautiful here azure colors. Entering the water - flat, flat, without stones and sharp shells. The beach is suitable for bathing, but more for contemplation natural beauties And photo shoots. Its main advantage and feature is a huge number of large and small, bright sea stars. They are scattered right next to the shore, at shallow depths So, it doesn't take much effort to see them. It is still worth taking a mask and a snorkel with you: undersea world It is also represented here by other representatives of the marine fauna.

There is practically no shadow on Bai Rash Vem: the greenery here is not very dense, and there are few awnings from the sun. The beach will delight travelers idyllic landscape, it can safely be called one of the the best on the island. Its main drawback is the mud that has accumulated on the left side of the coast. Vacationers must observe the following rules of behavior:

  1. Don't leave behind trash.
  2. Do not pick up with starfish.
  3. Don't take them out of the water do not touch And do not advance.
At the end of the tourist season, starfish become much more less, this is also due to the fact that some travelers take them instead. This big trouble Bai Rash Vema, because because of the irresponsible guests of the island, the beach can simply lose its “chip”.

Where is the starfish beach

Beach with starfish on the map of Fukuoka:

From the administrative center of Fukuoka - Duongdong city, "Starfish beach" is 20 km away. Getting to the beach is not easy. First, tourists need to find highway No. DT 973. You need to drive along it for about 10 km, until a clearly visible turn for gravel road. On this path, travelers need to follow the same amount. Almost near sea shore, to the right, near the fishing village, another path leaves - bumpy, uneven I. You should not be afraid: you only need to drive along it for about 600 m.

The main thing is not to miss the second branch, this will help signs and locals, which often prompt travelers the right way. If the guests of the island decide to overcome the road on bikes, they need to stock up masks or bandages on the face: dust from unpaved roads flies in all directions.

Important! Tourists who have little experience in driving motorcycles need to be as neat: the road here is very complex, beginners may not have enough skills, because of which the trip will turn into trouble and injury. The driver and his passenger must be in helmet X.

Price motorbike rental in one day: order 250,000 VND (750 rubles or $10). On average, the trip on motorcycles takes about one hour. Drive your own car or get out a little faster.

Attention! You will have to pay approx. 500,000 dong (1420 rubles or 21 dollars).

Tourists can also cooperate and rent minibus for 10 people- it's more profitable. The company will cost 1,000,000 VND (2,820 rubles or $42).

Some tour companies offer, the program of which includes a check-in to the beach with starfish. They usually include visiting a fishing village, a Phu Quoc pepper plantation and an eco-farm. A visit to Starfish is provided by the popular Fukuoka Sunset Photo Tour.

What entertainment is on the beach, prices

Bai Rach Vem is attractive primarily for its not crowded and savagery: not every tourist decides to overcome the difficult and confusing path to unique beach . Better food and drink bring with you: the cost of snacks in a few local stalls is much higher due to the lack of competition. Open on the shore "floating" that was erected right in the water on stilts. The restaurant's menu includes fish, seafood and some national Vietnamese dishes, the price of which is also several overpriced.

There are no other entertainments here: this place is unpopular, there are no large groups of tourists, respectively, the infrastructure is poorly developed. On the other hand, this can be considered the "highlight" of Starfish Beach.

Photo gallery:

Vacationers visit the neighboring fishing village, also built on the sea: here are traditional designs Vietnamese houses on the water. This authentic a place where you can fully enjoy local color, chat with the locals and see other than tourist Phu Quoc.

Nearby are the following Attraction:

Hotels near the beach, cost

No directly on the sea no accommodation facilities. The closest to Starfish are the following hotels:

  • Phu Quoc Country Side. Represents small farm y, on the territory of which there are rooms and a small, cozy cafe - its cuisine is invariably praised by tourists. The rooms are decorated very modestly, but quite suitable for short-lived accommodation. Cost: ≈ 500 rub. per night;

I am sure that all those who leave for Vietnam from the harsh Russian winters will not only spend all their time looking at and studying local attractions, but will also want to bask in the sun and swim in the sea on the best beaches of Phu Quoc.

And for those who have already been on this island or are just going to go, I did below short review, in my opinion, all the main beaches .

You can choose a hotel on an excellent service, he searches for hotels on all major booking systems, such as Booking, Agoda, Hotels, etc. and will immediately give you the cost of the hotel in these systems. I also wrote a review about .

#1: Beach Long beach(long beach)

It is located on the west coast of the island washed by the Gulf of Thailand. Since it is located on the southwestern coast, you can, of course, watch beautiful sunsets from it, as the sun does not just set over the horizon, but seems to fall into the sea.

The beach stretches from Duong Dong and stretches south for almost twenty kilometers. The sand has a yellow tint and is bordered by a grassy edge of the coast lined with rows of coconut palms.

Central and Northern part is the most the best place for relax. There are numerous hotels, cafes and bars along the road leading to Duong Dong, where you can have a delicious lunch and a glass of wine. Clean beach, a lot of sunbeds, compared to Thailand, it is not crowded here.

The most South part The beach is mostly deserted, with lonely fishermen's shacks made of palm leaves in the distance. Slowly, construction is increasingly covering its southern part. So soon there will be hotels and other developed infrastructure here.

Bai Sao is not inferior to Long Beach in its significance and beauty. Its length is about two kilometers, and it is located in the southern part of the island, 25 kilometers from the capital Duong Dong. Bai Sao is a rather secluded beach with soft and white sand - one of the few on the island.

You can not only passively sunbathe on it, but if you prefer whiter leisure, then here you can rent a jet ski, go scrolling or just ride a banana. Also near the beach there are several hotels and restaurants that offer European, Vietnamese or Russian dishes.

Here in the ocean you can see starfish, if you're lucky, small squids. In the most northern and southern areas of the island, there are places where you will find corals.

Adviсe:

  • From May to October, the sea in this place is calm, as the winds go to the western part of the island. And from October to May the sea will be restless, especially in the middle of the day.
  • Bai Sao is a popular beach and it gets crowded from time to time. But if you are looking for privacy and peace, then come to it either early in the morning or in the evening to admire the amazing sunset.

Bai Ong Lang is located on the west coast of Phu Quoc. It is located between the town of Ganh Dau and Duong Dong. Bai Ong Lang is not continuous, but consists, as it were, of a series of small sandy beaches separated by ridges of stones.

All recreation areas in the resorts are well maintained, they are regularly cleaned from the debris that the waves bring to the shore. It's wonderful quiet place, not crowded with tourists, fine white sand, with crystal clear water.

There are no shops on this one, so it's best to buy everything you need in advance and bring with you. But if you want to drink cocktails or beer, then you will find a bar or restaurant next to the hotel. If you are not satisfied with the food here, then you can always go to Duong Dong, which is located a 15-minute drive from the beach.

A vendor sometimes walks along the beach and offers you to buy fresh pineapple, mango or watermelon. Sun loungers on this beach can be rented for about 50 VND per day.

#4: Beach bai Khem(Bai Khem Beach)

Bai Khem (also known as Kem Beach, Bai Kem, Bai Khem, and also called “Cream Beach”) is another white sandy beach in Fukuoka, located on southeast coast south of An Thoi Town, 24 kilometers from Duong Dong.

Bai Khem is beautiful coast shaped like a crescent. Wet white powdery sand creaks pleasantly underfoot. The sea here is calm with a greenish-blue tint. In connection with which it received the name - Emerald Bay.

Although the beach itself is not as big as Long Beach or Bai Sao, it also attracts tourists with its romantic scenery. A fishing village nestled near the beach.
