In addition, the beach is famous for its picturesque sunset landscapes, so in the high season after 17:00 it often gets quite crowded.

Specifications

The sandy coast of Jimbaran begins almost immediately behind the airport (to the south of it), from which planes taking off and landing are clearly visible. In the south, the beach ends at the resort hotel Four Seasons where the famous fish restaurants are located.

The total length of the beach is about 4 km, and the width reaches 70 meters.

The coastline of Jimbaran Beach is conditionally divided into three parts:

  • Pantai Kelan - in the north,
  • Kedonganan Beach - in the center,
  • Pantai Muaya - in the south.

There is no clear boundary between these parts, they flow into each other. Northern part closest to the airport, it is more rocky than the other two, there are not very many vacationers, but there are quite a lot of fishermen and fishing boats. On the central beach, located near the fish market, there are several restaurants specializing in seafood and hotels. The most popular among tourists is south beach, since it is here that most of the expensive hotels are located, which most closely monitor the cleanliness of their territory.

Waves off the coast at Jimbaran Beach are rare, and the entrance to the water is gentle, so the place is well suited for families with children, including the smallest. Seasonality of rest

Garbage is washed ashore, and although hotel and inn workers monitor the condition of their territory and regularly clean their beaches, the situation on public areas of the beach can be frustrating.

But lying on the beach, you see, is also a bit boring. Besides how, if not in progress hiking, enjoy the surrounding beauty and local flavor.

The village is the center of fishing, and it would be an unforgivable mistake not to look at all the amazing creatures that the locals pull with a net from the sea. The majority of buyers are representatives of restaurants, but there are also tourists. The best time to visit - early morning. You can try a lot of things, and it will cost less than in a restaurant.

uluwatu temple

Uluwatu Temple - this is one of the six most significant temples of Jimbaran located nearby, so you can get to the sights on your own by rented car or moped. What is good about one of the key temples of the island?

Firstly, its incredible location on top of a cliff, at an altitude of 70 meters above sea level. From here you have a stunning view of the Indian Ocean. If you're lucky, you can get to the magnificent festive ceremonies, which are held every six months, or to daily performances - "kechak" dances. According to the chronicles, the temple was founded a thousand years ago.

On the way to the temple, you should be careful. Monkeys who came from the jungle are very curious and without any twinge of conscience steal glasses and cameras from gaping tourists.

It cannot be said that there are any special attractions in Jimbaran. But here is what you should definitely see in this glorious Indonesian town.

1) Beaches

This, of course, is not a tourist attraction. And it is unlikely that someone will leave Bali without visiting the beach. And the beaches in this bay are some of the best in Bali. The sand is fine and white, and the calm waters make the beaches of Jimbaran suitable for swimming, including for children. The southern end of the beach, near the Four Seasons Resort, is the most quiet places, although the rest of the beaches are no less pleasant.

2) Sunset

These Jimbaran sunsets have probably already buzzed your ears. Come to the beach at about 5 pm, take a seat in one of the coastal restaurants, with tables right on the sand, order a cocktail or tea and enjoy a terribly extremely incredibly romantic sunset. Keep in mind that in the late afternoon, almost all the people of the village come to the beach, because this is practically one of the few entertainments in the town. So if you want a "front row seat," get there before the sun begins to roll into the horizon.

3) Jimbaran Fish Market

This is a traditional fish market, which is located in the northern part of the bay, right on the beach at the junction with Jalan Tukad Ayung. Vendors come here every morning to lay out their seafood. Buyers in the market, most often, most of Bali's high-end restaurants. But there are also tourists who want to taste delicious fish here on the cheap. All types of fish and shellfish are very inexpensive here, although the market sellers have a stupid habit of inflating prices. The best time to visit the market is between 6 am and 9 am when the goods are freshest. You can immediately grill your fish and taste it (why bring it home! Well, okay, if it’s a villa with an equipped kitchen, but if it’s a hotel? Yes, even if you settled in a villa, cooking is probably terribly lazy!)

4) Jimbaran Center

Jimbaran City is a typical small Balinese town with lots of small streets and alleys: it's a great place to walk around. Just wandering around Jimbaran is an adventure in itself, especially since the locals are smiling and welcoming. The road along the beach and Jalan Uluwatu is an excellent choice, including for cycling. Well, do not forget about the small paths that branch off from these main roads.

5) Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple or Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of the six main temples that are considered the spiritual pillars of Bali. First of all, the temple is famous for its magnificent location (it stands on top of a steep cliff, about 70 meters above sea level).

Uluwatu Temple is definitely one of the most beautiful sights on the island, and this area is one of the best places on the island (what beautiful sunsets and stunning views of the Indian Ocean). "Ulu" means "upper" and "watu" means "stone" or "rock" in Balinese. Some archaeological finds found here prove that the temple dates from around the 10th century. There are two entrances to the Uluwatu Temple - from the south and north. Nice little wood in front of the temple. The mountain serpentine that leads to the temple is reinforced with concrete walls on the side of the cliff, so it’s almost not scary to drive. The ascent to the temple takes about an hour, and along the way you will find several viewing platforms, and you will definitely want to stop there and admire the beauties. The views of the waves that lick the rock are just incredible! Balinese Hindus believe that the three divine forces - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, united here in the main trinity of Trimurti. Because of this, the temple became a place of worship for Shiva Rudra. The temple is also dedicated to protecting Bali from evil sea spirits.

It is believed that the idea for the construction came from Mpu Kunturan, a monk who was also involved in the construction of a number of other important temples in Bali, such as Pura Sakenan in Denpasar, as well as in Lombok and Sumbawa.

That was about 1000 years ago. A monk from East Java named Dhang Huang Dvizhenrda felt that Uluwatu Temple should be the place of his spiritual enlightenment. Balinese Hindus believe that he reached the highest spiritual point - oneness with the deities, when he was struck by lightning. Then the monk simply disappeared. Dissolved in the air. Until the end of the last century, it was very difficult to get close to the temple, and moreover, in 1999 lightning caused a terrible fire in the temple. The temple went through a number of restorations.

Behind the main shrine in one of the courtyards of Uluwatu Temple is a statue that faces Indian Ocean- she is the embodiment of that same monk.

Two entrances to the temple are decorated with gates carved in the form of leaves and flowers, as well as a pair of sculptures in the form of human bodies with elephant heads. The legacy of the 10th century is a solid stone gate in the courtyard. Such gates are not commonly found on the island.

By the way, Uluwatu Beach, the beach below the cliff, is one of the best internationally for safing. Every six months, the temple hosts celebrations dedicated to the temple. Temple keepers, the Jro Kuta royal family of Denpasar, are regulars at the festival.

When you go to the temple, be careful with small items. Monkeys just love to pluck sunglasses and cameras from the hands of slow tourists (there are even special signs hanging there).

However, you can feed them peanuts or bananas instead of grabbing their attention with more valuable items.

What is even more interesting: the temple practically hangs over the water. But, oddly enough, there are no significant signs of erosion on coastline under a towering rock. Believers consider this fact a manifestation of the divine power that protects the temple. Unlike others tourist places in Bali, the Uluwatu Temple houses a limited number of sellers of all kinds of goods near its walls - and thank God. When you go to the temple, put on the appropriate clothes (best of all, a sarong, you can buy them right there). The best time to visit the temple is before sunset, when the temple turns pinkish. The traditional kechak dance is performed every day at the top of the cliff from 18:00 to 19:00 and is an extremely interesting sight. And all this for a small fee.
By the way, there is no public transport that would go to the temple and back, so it will be difficult to get there without sightseeing bus or taxi. A guide is not the most necessary thing to visit the temple, although it is useful.
